This place was great. Our server Jessica was fantastic, she really made our dining experience a great one. We were in Dallas for volleyball nationals so we were eating out every night, and most of the other places we went to left something to be desired in the service department. Not here! I will ask for her specifically if I ever go back. The food is really good here and they have lots of authentic options. The chips and salsa, (one of the measures of a good Mexican restaurant), were great. They have different options for the salsas and both were tasty. Their 3 tacos for $9.00 is a great deal and you can mix and match and try different kinds since they're the same price. Great idea! I tried three different ones and they were all very good. I thought it was a little odd that beans and rice was not included and was instead a $1 side item for each, but whatever. I got the black beans and cilantro rice on the side and I liked both. I had a margarita on the rocks and it was just the house marg, but I liked it. (Another measure of a Mexican restaurant). It wasn't too lime-y and I like their glassware they serve it in. Overall our whole group had a great experience here, (thanks Jessica!), and this is one of the few places we went that I would want to go back to. read more

Discovered Wild Salsa on a foodie Instagram, and it was walking distance from our hotel, perfect! I was excited to come here, but was a bit underwhelmed as I expected the place to be more crowded. This only meant that we ended up getting more attention from the waiter, who was very nice and knowledgeable on things to do in Dallas. Not only that, but other waiters also came over to talk to us and thank us for our patronage. Ok, let's move on to the food. Yum. It was a bit spicy for my tongue, but that was expected. We come to Dallas from uptown for the stocking stroll and stopped in here to get warm and eat. David, our waiter, was AMAZING!! ExplaIned all the dishes, everything about happy hour, history of the area and was delightful! The food wasn't your typical Mexican place... presentation was beautiful, I could drink the queso and the margaritas are fresh & homemade (not the gross mix). Highly recommend. I liked this place!! Good food, reasonably priced, convenient downtown location, good service and cute inside. I came to Wild Salsa with a group of 10 people and had some tacos and the pineapple Fresca to drink. Really yummy food! Much better Mexican food than Enchiladas which is a couple blocks away. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The bar area is nice. JuSt one tip: the traditional guacamole they serve here is sort of different, sort of sweet. Not too crazy about it. I went here for the very first time yesterday with my group of girls &' David was our AMAZING server !! He was so friendly &' throughly explained the menu for us &' answered all questions asked. The food was AMAZING! Definitely beyond my expectations. A suitable alternative for an after work gathering or to come with a group of friends for a meal. I like the layout of the place, drink choices and flavorful appetizers, like the generous, shareable nacho plate. I know it's summer and it's hot, but I was expecting it to be cooler inside and it was pretty warm at our table. Like a lot of places with happy hour specials, it was pretty busy right after work. Tried this place out on a night out in Dallas. Everywhere else was packed so we went here instead. There was no wait and plenty of seats open. The interior was dark to match the style of the restaurant. However, i felt the lighting may have been too dark. The server we had was a bit awkward and she didn't seem very nice towards us. The food came out and everything tasted okay but could have been better. And in my opinion, the pricing was not worth the quality of the meal. It was nice to try new things and check this place out, but I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

Ok first of all let me start with the staff, they are great not really fast but I cannot complain they were "fast" for a fully packed place ‍ Second of all the food, for real I got lost in my dreams when I had the lamb chop like for real And the pricing is really good, maybe I didn't like the table cuz it was annoying and shaky but over all great I don't think a table will let me give the place less than 5 stars, if u don't like waiting or you have a big group I would suggest calling and reserve a table, if ur fine with waiting, then let me tell you the place is located downtown so you put ur name and walk around I don't think they call but just try I like downtown read more

We've been here twice recently, and we absolutely love it! We've tried enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, quesodillas, and tamales. All fantastic and beautifully presented. The bartenders make some seriously good drinks, and if someone is walking around with the pineapple and jalapeno Agua Fresca samples, do not say no. They are amazing, and my son has ordered it both times because of that sample. Get dessert. Just get it. We've had all three options, and they are all so tasty! My favorite is the flan, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Thank you to Genesis, who was our server tonight! She answered all of our questions and made us feel at home. I think that's one of the things I also like about Wild Salsa. From the hostesses, wait staff, managers, bartenders, and bussers, they are all friendly, and it feels like an intimate, family restaurant in the middle of Dallas. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. To top it off, we saw two large cockroaches around our table, which was especially noticeable in the dark dining room. The cocktails were the highlight, but overall, the service, food, pacing, and cleanliness did not meet expectations. One star. Very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll be back.

I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Overall, I'd be tempted to give it another try, the ambiance and overall feel is awesome - then hope the food is great again and make it a perfect Friday night spot, but for $275 for the 4 entree's, 2 appetizer's and 2 drinks we got last night? I'd argue it wasn't worth it.

It started to fill up with people (mostly guests from the hotel) after about an hour. We stayed and had one more cocktail each before leaving. Someone suggested coming on Friday or Saturday for the live music and livelier crowd. We'd go back for the drinks, not the food. We spent $145 with tip (food and four drinks).

For entrees, Dry-Aged Delmonico, Pomme Puree, Crispy Brussels, Honey Truffle Chicken and Whole Lobster Spaghetti. All the food was divine! To wrap it all up we of course ordered the 24 layer strawberry cake. The cake was bought out with a candle and 4 glasses of bubbly which was a very nice treat. When strolling through downtown Dallas there are quite a lot of choices for restaurants. I had heard positive things about this place called Wild Salsa. Being from San Antonio I'm always very picky with Mexican Food so I was ready to critque. However, I found that everything was really enjoyable. I arrived to a pleasant atmosphere with extremely friendly service from the get go. The hostess sat my two friends and me at a nice private and quiet corner table with a great view of Main St and the Comerica building to the north and a park with a scenic fountain to my east. Our server came over immediately to introduce himself and tell us about the menu and when I asked about Fajitas he explained why this restaurant was so unique over others, joking "that's Tex Mex, this is authentic Mexican cuisine." He recommended a dish that would serve my interests but still offer me something different and healthier. A nice way to handle the situation instead of making me go through the menu and find something else to settle on. The food came out shortly after we finished our chips and salsa and was very good. I was happy to see corn tortillas and black beans as opposed to heavier alternatives such as flour or refried. The portions were nice, leaving me full but not uncomfortable or stuffed. Following the tab was free ice cream and Canal gum at the door. Such a great way to end a nice meal. I will definitely be back. read more

The good: The food was solid and Abriana, our server, was fantastic. Super sweet and helpful. Got the surf and turf fajitas because I was hungry (but the special was birria tacos, which I almost ordered). They also have tacos al pastor, my favorite. Fajitas were tasty but the flour tortillas tasted bland, like basic supermarket tortilla. Drinks were aesthetic and really tasty. The wild Rita and El Flamenco were awesome. Not too sweet and not too weak. The coco azure was heavy on the tequila flavor - I recommend getting with casamigos. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. They have a DJ who was playing reggaeton bops. The bad: They were understaffed. One waiter kept taking chairs from tables to put at the bar. They had two bartenders tending to all those people. The host was incredibly disorganized. Despite many open tables we had to wait almost 20 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Drinks took a long time to come out. To be fair, it was a Friday night and they just reopened and I'm sure they've had a rush of business from social media. Wish they still had valet. I had to block a couple of blocks away in the Texas heat. Overall, had a good experience and will definitely be back. read more

My friend had the beef tacos, and he said they were amazing. The meat was seasoned well, and the tortillas were fresh and soft. We also shared a bowl of queso, which was cheesy and spicy. Came here first time several months ago, upon advice of a friend who also resides downtown. To put it nicely,I was less than impressed with service and food. That being said, boy am I glad I gave it another chance!! Me and my husband were hungry one evening and it was convenient,so we stopped in. Talk about a totally different experience. The chips and green table salsa were scrumptious!! Our server recommended white queso, which is different than most mexican restaurants yellow queso. It was delicious! My husband and I have had the tamale carnitas (huge!) , steak fajitas (great meat) and tacos. You can choose 3 tacos along with rice and beans, our faves are beef barbacoa and mushroom! We first had Viry as our server and in our last 2 trips (its a weekly spot for us now) Tracey and Raul M.ask for any of them as All 3 are extremely knowledgeable,helpful and downright Texan friendly!! Ladies and gentlemen, make way for the new player in the Mexican cuisine scene in Dallas: Wild Salsa. Dallas has scores of good restaurants, and many of them have attempted to adopt the culinary flair of Mexico--often times unsuccessfully. In the end, the easiest way to distinguish a good restaurant from a spectacular one is the attention to detail. The menu at Wild Salsa had an impressive mélange of authentic Mexican dishes and the execution of the dishes was superb. I brought five of my favorite [and hungriest] mates to help me test-drive the menu and everything ordered was outstanding. From the queso fundido to the tacos al pastor, all of the dishes that we ordered tasted like home. Originally from Mexico City, it was fresh air to encounter a Mexican restaurant where the chef actually did his homework. After ordering a Modelo (the Negro Modelo was the only one on the menu) the waiter rolls his eyes and says Especial? I could barely hear him and wasn't clear what he was asking, then my husband says I'll have the same. The waiter then very condesendingly gives us a dissertation on the types of Modelo beers (which we were already well aware of) even as my husband is pointing to the Negro Modelo on the menu - the waiter was a complete jerk! Once our food arrived the waiter did not once check to see if we needed anything. Half way through our meal my husband's beer is empty, he's trying to get someone's attention, then as we're almost done our waiter finally shows up to ask if we need more drinks!! The prices may be high but the design and the service not our server, was darn-near perfect. We were walking in looking at the patron wall and an asian guy saw this and showed us a skeleton statue! The ceviche was not very good but the queso was the best ive had. Now for the bad: Our server was complaining to the manager about us and he came back and apologized for the server and gave us free queso. I think he knew that she was being loud enough. I have been to Wild Salsa on various occasions, and have finally found the motivation to write a review for this wonderful place. Right from the beer bottle chandeliers (I'm obsessed with lighting!) to the blaring reggaeton/Latin music, this place is one minute away from taking me right into the heart of Mexico! I always order the Queso Blanco which comes with unlimited refills for chips! What a lovely deal, I'm usually almost full before I even look at the menu again to order my main course. The last time I went, I decided to stick to something safe, tried and tested: the Chicken Tinga Quesadilla. These quesadillas are nothing like I have ever tasted before; they taste authentic, but have an interesting twist to them. The worst restaurant experience of my life, ever. Our waiter was an absolute jerk. But according to the only manager we could find he was there best waiter. This guy goes to our table and immediately starts trashing the bday boy. Then he starts with his sad story as to why he's having a bad night. I could go on and on. Bottomline save your money and go where it's appreciated. I will never go there again. I pray he was fired.. The atmosphere can only play so much of a role. If anyone rates this restaurant higher than one star. Then they must work there and believe in aliens. Again this place is trash. If you want to spend money then donate it or go buy some lame tv dinner thats about the same quality. It will save you xanax and heartburn. read more

I went there a couple weeks ago. I got the chicken fajitas. They were well prepared and looked spectacular. I also had the salsa appetizer and enjoyed every single one. What gave this restaurant 3 stars was the service. The food was on par, but when I counted there were only 7 other people in the restaurant (it was Wednesday night), my water was never filled and had to ask twice. The chips were never filled and they never came and asked if I want another drink, I had 1 beer and probably would of gotten 3 if they actually asked. I do not know if this is expected of downtown, but like I said the food was good. The service is downright deployable! Better service equals better tip! read more

I'm here from out of state and stopped into this restaurant today for lunch since I heard good reviews about it. One server was great and had great conversation however, on the way out, a different server (not sure if he's a server or not) thought it would be funny to crack a racist joke to my husband and I about our stay here and said "Try not to get arrested while you're out here" I don't find anything funny about racism or stereotypes being that we were the only African American people in the building. Bad look on the business end. Won't be back if I'm visiting Dallas and definitely won't be recommending this racist establishment. Not a good way to treat paying customers read more

So far I've had their Wild Queso, Salsa Trio, Chicken Milanesa, Sonoran Enchiladas, and Neapolitan Flan. Wild Queso had some nice flavors that I didn't expect. I was there for lunch with a group of ladies and all of us were truly pleased with all the food we ordered. David was or server and he went above and beyond to make our experience true delight. He thoroughly explained the menu to us explaining all the items. Ate here over the weekend, and have eaten here once before. Ordered the fajitas both times. Their Salsa is definitely different than traditional Salsa, but it's still very good. We ordered the combo fajitas with shrimp and chicken. They had a great taste but were a little dry. The waitress was very attentive, and we were able to get right in on a Saturday night. We probably wouldn't go out of our way to go to Wild Salsa but if we are in downtown Dallas again we will probably stop back by and grab another order of the Fajitas. read more

We sat in the bar for dinner. The bartender ignored us to chit chat with male customers and co-workers, She didn't tell us about any happy hour specials. We had to ask for menus. It took way to long to get drinks on a slow night when she wasn't busy. The food was just ok. I had my credit card out for awhile ready to pay but once again was ignored by the bartender. I probably won't go back. I canget better tacos for cheaper at fuel city and don't have to tip someone that could care less if I was there. read more

A welcome break from the Tex Mex restaurants that are on every street corner in Dallas. Instead, they have unique recipes full of flavor and the presentation is very nice. I'm a fool for the white queso, fish tacos and black beans, but it's all delish. The service has been consistently good every time we go but even more so today - when 6 of us skipped in unannounced at 1230 and Veronica never missed a beat! I suggest asking for Veronica when you go - I'm told she also works Wednesday happy hours. read more

A server immediately came over and yelled "nice try, get up, I do all the seating around here." Then he sarcastically asked "ever heard of a reservation?" This was the bar area, and we watched people walking in looking for open seats the whole time, so that made no sense. I was so caught off guard that all I said was "oh." He then said "why are you looking at me like that?" I told him "because you didn't have to yell at me." I asked for his name, which apparently set him off further. Instead of just answering, he snapped "I already know what you're going to do" before finally telling me it was Eddie. Then he called me "high maintenance" and said "get out of my bar". The guests around us looked as stunned as we were, including the women waiting behind him to be seated. Before we left, I verified his name with another server, and Eddie yelled at us for doing that, too. Then we walked straight out. I later learned the owner of this bar is named Eddie. If that is who screamed at us, then there is no manager to complain to and no reason to expect anything to change. This was our second visit. The food the first time was honestly bad, but we gave it another chance since everywhere else was full. Now I understand why this place had open tables on a game day. It was also uncomfortably hot inside, the AC did not seem to be working. No customer should be screamed at for sitting at an empty table. We will not be back and I would not send anyone here.
