Me and my friends went in last Friday, excited to try a new restaurant. Unfortunately, this was the absolute worst service I've ever received in my life. I wish I got the name of our server but frankly he was too busy flirting with the hostess than to care about our table. It took 15 minutes for anyone to even approach us to get drinks. After that it took another 30 minutes to order chips and guacamole and another 30 minutes for them to be brought to our table. I would love to give him the benefit of the doubt but it was hard to ignore how truly awful the service was. What made it worse is he didn't even care, he was off on the side chatting about the dodgers. I usually don't complain but in this case I had to walk up to the bartender and ask for our sever. The tacos are some of the best I have had in OC and right next to the beach so you can take your food to go with the best view in town. I was very happy to stumble upon this little eatery. They have a nice patio area and a small dinning area inside. It's nothing fancy but the food is really good and the staff is very friendly. It's a low key atmosphere but clean. I sat at the bar and got to watch the cooks work their magic. I had the fish tacos with rice and beans. First time trying the cute little Mexican casual restaurant on balboa peninsula. Emma was our server and she was very helpful. She told us that this place is owned by Bear Flag that has a store next to it and is the location of the original bear flag. We ordered their nachos with carnitas, the red snapper skillet and their steak fajitas with a pint of cerveza. They were all amazing. Good size. This particular location doesn't have much seating and it can get packed. We decided to do takeout and I got the cheese enchiladas and my husband got shrimp tacos. Both items were such a disappointment. The ingredients just didn't taste fresh and it wasn't worth the $40 we paid. The Mexican rice had no taste and the black beans were a bit watery.
