I came here the other week with some friends and we had some of the best coffee and baked goods I've had in Charleston so far! I had a large coffee and a double chocolate cookie. I liked the coffee because the beans weren't roasted into burnt charcoal oblivion like in many shops - so the beans were actually high quality enough to just lightly roast them and it brought out all the flavors in the beans. I finally came here! My friend had a custom almond passion fruit cake made from here and it has been on my to visit list for weeks. I had their mushroom & Gruyere quiche, ham and cheddar scones, breakfast casserole, and raspberry and nutella turnover. My family prefers savory baked goods and they definitely delivered a great variety of options. If I had to pick I think I would forgo the breakfast caserole only because it was so filling I didn't have room for much else. The hot and iced coffees were strong and delicious. All in all I will be a regular here I'm so happy I was introduced to this place. My only request is they bring back some of their more custom cake options! I stopped by here on the way to work to pick up a coffee. It wasn't busy, so I was served immediately. On their menu, they have different coffee options and then on a stand next to the register, they have the flavors you can add to the coffee/latte/etc. At the bottom of the flavor list, it said that the flavors were made in house. I tried caramel in my latte and ordered a sweet potato muffin and a chocolate banana muffin. The thing I like about going to coffee shops as opposed to say.. a gas station for coffee, is that coffee shops tend to make coffee the exact right temperature to drink it right when you get it. However, here, the coffee was piping hot, to the point I had to wait a little while to drink it, and by then my tongue felt a little burnt. The muffins were delicious! The sweet potato muffin was not overly sweet for those of you sensitive to sugar. It did have a cinnamon taste to it, like sweet potato casserole! The chocolate banana muffin was my favorite. It was like banana nut bread - minus the nuts add chocolate. I even found a big chunk of banana at the bottom of the muffin! Overall, I think this is a great little shop for pastries. I pass by this bakeshop everyday and finally decided to try it. The inside is filled with boxes everywhere and the lighting is very low. This place doesn't look like much from the inside or outside, but I will say that their dessert was really good. If you are a fan of very sweet, the salted caramel tart is perfect. I could only handle two bites, but the taste was great. I ate the ginger molasses cookie right away! I loved the different textures from the cookie, soft frosting, and crunchy sprinkles. This gem is a delight to the eyes with their cases full of pastries. I had pumpkin bread with cream cheese frosting. It was fabulous. Horrible experience ---again. Been going to Wildflour since it was downtown before it moved to its current location. Loved their Sticky Buns, Cinnamon rolls, muffins, etc. However, the last two visits have been problematic. Their service is just crazy slow. Yesterday however was unbelievable. It was "Sticky Bun" Sunday so we stopped in, ordered two buns to go, and waited, and waited and waited. Thirty minutes later, we were still waiting. Was the line incredibly long? No. Four people in front of us. They simply have no concept of how to accept and fill orders. It's almost as if they wait to bake your order only after you place your order. Again, our order was to go. I can understand if your intent is to go there, spend time, enjoy the pastry, your coffee and basically have an experience. But we were there solely to take out a couple of buns and move along. What if you actually have someplace else to go----like to church, or to see friends or family? Thirty minutes to wait for a sticky bun? Never again. We'll simply go to Sugar Bakery. My only complaint would be about the atmosphere. It isn't really a pleasantly comfortable place to sit and enjoy. Lots of signs on the door with instructions and not too clean, haphazard tables inside, etc. While efficient, the person who took our order wasn't welcoming or particularly helpful. Overall, great experience. Service was lovely and there were lots of great options to choose from. There are breakfast goods, quiches and frittatas, and many types of baked desserts. Prompt and attentive service. We tried a bunch of things including: croissant, lemon poppy seed muffin, sweet potato coffee cake, and a bacon and Swiss quiche. The croissant was flakey and buttery and the lemon poppyseed muffin had a really nice lemon zest flavor. I wish the muffin wasn't frosted though, they also added sugar to the top and it was too much so I just took the whole topping off. The quiche had a ton of flavor as well. We also got a blueberry vanilla latte- this is not a very sweet drink so if you are a sweet coffee drinker ask for a little extra sweetener. The coffee had a nice subtle flavor though and I would get it again. It was nice to get a full breakfast from this bakery and not have to wait for a table for brunch somewhere in downtown Charleston. The bakery is kind of off to the side in a strip mall and doesn't look overly impressive but they make wonderful food. read more

Everything looks amazing at Wildflour, but since I couldn't get everything in the display case I decided on 3 things: a mushroom and cheese quiche, a chocolate croissant, and a pecan croissant. The quiche was delicious, but the croissants were on another level. They were so flakey and were stuffed on the inside. The pecan croissant was stuffed and topped with candied/caramelized pecans. First off the cupcake was tasty, but a bit undersized for the price and had WAY too much frosting on it. There was actually more frosting than cake, but once I scraped the majority of it off, it was pretty yummy. I was disappointed by the quiche, it wasn't very flavorful and I felt like it had too much cheese. That's a statement I never thought I'd make because I love cheese, but man, the quiche was basically drowning in it. WildFlour is one of my regular places for breakfast of treats. I used to go downtown before this location opened. It's so close to my house that it's both a blessing and a curse :). The combo roll is delicious, and is probably one of my husband's favorite foods ever. I gravitate towards savory, and love the quiches (especially the tomato or fig) and scones. I've been a fan of Wildflour for a while but was just able to stop in for the first time this past week with my sister. We were picking up some cupcakes for a dinner party that evening. This location has a few places to sit and enjoy your food, which is nice if you're free for a quick bite. The staff is bubbly and happy to help recommend options. We got a red velvet, peanut butter, salted caramel annnnnd... I can't remember the other kind, but split between a handful of adults and one toddler I was able to try them all. What a great pastry shop just outside of downtown Charleston. They serve all the traditional baked goods like muffins, scones, turnovers, cupcakes, etc. I gave the sweet potato muffin a try, and it was delightful to eat. The muffin was big, yet moist and baked perfectly inside. It had the nice sweet potato flavor I expected and it was topped with a delicious crunchy brown sugar oatmeal topping. The muffin was great and if the quality of it was representative of all of their baked foods, then I would definitely come back. There was also a big selection of small baked breakfast pies. I decided on the bacon pimento cheese tomato pie and it definitely hit the spot for breakfast. The bacon gave it a nice salty crunch on top of the warm gooey pimento cheese. The fresh tomatoes offered a refreshing bite, and the crust was baked nicely with a great flakiness and crunch. Overall, Wildflour was a really good bakery outside of downtown. Read multiple blogs recommending this pastry shop. They all said the Sunday Sticky Buns were the way to go and they did not steer me wrong! The pecan loaded cinnamon roll with glaze, which is essentially what it is, was a perfect luscious texture of caramelized sugar, roasted pecans, and cinnamon. They are ONLY served on Sunday and are limited in quantity so get there early. Mine was a perfect stop before morning worship services and was still fresh out of the oven hot. They are about five-six inches in diameter. They also serve quiches, croissants, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice. read more

Went in for some french macarons. They had a 4 pack christmas box for $7.50. Got to the car and tried one out. Awful! It shattered all over my clothes. The shells were all hollow, hard and dried out. Not a quick stop - only one counter person and one coffee maker, so if you walk in behind a group of 6, as I did - have a seat, it will be awhile. Coffee was ok. I ordered an oatmeal walnut cranberry cookie and it was very hard, over cooked too almost burnt so the birds had oatmeal for breakfast. I also ordered a few scones, both savory and sweet to taste. I love a scone, not everyone gets their dry texture, but with coffee or tea, I like that. I did enjoy their combination of flavors in the savory ones. read more

This was our first stop after driving 6hrs from Florida. The staff was super friendly and they had so many delicious looking options. My first pick was a doggie biscuit for the pup which he approved of 110%. The I got an apple turnover 2 cookies and muffin. The staff warmed up the muffin and the turnover which was perfect for the slightly cooler morning. The turn over was very flaky and buttery.
