Friendly service in a small town cafe, across the road from a stream. Comfort food served with a decent alcohol selection, I had a very nice bloody mary and a denver style skillet. This place is the best spot in Evergreen. I grew up coming here because it was my mom's favorite restaurant. Now as an adult, I have formed my own experiences here. The staff is wonderful and the food is consistently delicious. It's small for sure but it makes it that much more special and homie. Penny and Josh are here today holding it down and are both incredible, but we have had an amazing experience with every person on staff. This place made us feel the most welcome when we moved back to Evergreen and we will always be repeat customers whenever possible. Love this place!! read more

I love Wildflower. I'm an Evergreen local and this is my favorite breakfast spot in town. I've recently been here a few times for lunch and it's been great. I've recently had the "Mt. Evans" burger, served open faced and smothered in green chile. I've also had the grilled chicken sandwich topped with bacon and again, smothered in green chile. Damn good stuff! Whatever you get, order the breakfast potatoes. They will change your entire outlook on tubers. Wildflower is tiny, so it's prone to a bit of a wait. Unless you're about to gnaw your companion's arm off, get on the list and hang out in downtown Evergreen. On Thursdays the Wildflower hosts sushi night, perhaps surprising for a small mountain town. But the sashimi and nigiri is very fresh and delicious. The sushi rolls - if you're into that kind of thing - are also really good. The service is always friendly, attentive, and prompt. Stopped here for lunch based on the Yelp reviews. I really expected something special. It was at best, mediocre. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was mostly flavorless, and pretty dry (better than being undercooked). However, as I looked around the dining room, I was amazed at how filthy is was. Thick, black grease and dirt in every corner and traveling up the chair legs. If the public dining room it that bad, I hate to imagine what the kitchen is like. There are several reasons why this restaurant is my number one choice for food in Evergreen. Here they are, in no particular order 1) The staff- everyone who works there, including the chefs, servers and owners are extremely approachable, hard working and kind. You certainly don't find that everywhere. 2) The food- do you like breakfast, lunch or dinner (if you don't then my next question would be, are you a human?) Well you can find all three with delicious options. My personal favorites are the eggs benedict florentine for breakfast and sushi night on Thursdays (it's the bees knees.) 3) The ambience- it's just freaking adorable inside. Well decorated and cozy, Evergreen has been a popular vacation spot for my family and I for years and I can't imagine taking a trip there without (at least) two stops into the Wildflower. Drove up from Denver on a Sunday morning around 11AM to try this place out. It's very very small inside, but the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food came very quickly. I'm visiting a friend in Black Hawk, and we found this cafe via Yelp and all of the great reviews. I'm very happy to say that it lived up to its reputation! We arrived around 11:30 AM and were promptly seated at the bar in front of the kitchen. I had the Double Scramble (eggs, cheese and ham over an English muffin) with the Wild Potatoes...yum! The waitresses were in the weeds a bit but were very friendly and we were happy with our service. The downtown strip that this cafe is on is so cute. A long wait on Memorial Day, as you might expect, but service was friendly and prompt once we were seated. The space is small, but light-filled and clean. I had the smothered skillet, and OH MY GOODNESS it was seriously delicious! The potatoes were exactly what I want all potatoes to be like- crispy and well-seasoned, more like chips than fries but with a sliver of softness in the center. I was nervous that the mild chili verde would be bland, but that was an unfounded fear. The chili was exceptionally flavorful, and generously ladled on top of the heavenly potatoes. Finally, the delightful skillet was topped with melted cheese. So, so good! My husband had the chicken fried steak skillet, which was also pretty good, just not exceptionally like the smothered potatoes were. I have no idea why I have waited so long to write this review. My husband and I have been going to the wildflower for breakfast once a year for our anniversary. I think is been at least 5 years now. We talk about it all the time just How wonderful it is to our friends and now we get to go more often. Its tiny, cozy, packed, fabulous!! The food is so fresh and high quality and most delicious! We love to get a breafast appetizer of a bluberry pancake. Crispy on The edges perfect in the middle. Lots of fresh berries. It doesn't require syrup its so perfect on its own. Omelots are delicious, heavos rancheos is amazin. I just Cant say enough...except one small thing...the friendly, knowledgeable staff that pulls it all together and makes it an even more fantastic place! One of my top 5 breafast places in all of CO. I work just a few doors down from them, so I head in there whenever I can. The service is always exceptional, the food is always delicious and I always leave in anticipation of my next visit. Huevos benedict came out smothered in a butchered hollandaise sauce that had way too much lemon juice in it. So lemony and overpowering I couldn't eat my breakfast. Driving through the mountains, demands a lumber-jack inspired breakfast. This local favorite was nearly filled on a random Monday morning. With a full bar menu, and cheap breakfast I can see why. For about 25 bucks you can get two cocktails, two meals, and two sides. Although the ciabatta bread french toast was good, it was nothing magical. Though thanks to a healthy side of bacon and an avalanche of syrup, it was good enough. It's dinky and rustic, but does capture a commanding view of Evergreen's life downtown and it's constant parade of freshly waxed motorcycles. We love the food here!! I love this place. If you time it right, the wait for breakfast or brunch isn't bad. But it is a popular place and there are very few tables. Either way, it's worth the wait. The food is fresh, delicious and tastes like your relatives are in the kitchen cooking just for you. They have some great drinks to go with breakfast. I took a friend from Cincinnati recently and he had to go back (twice) for the Bacon-Infused Blood Mary. He still raves about it from afar. And just when you think they can't top the early morning experience, there's Sushi Thursday. Some of the best sushi I've ever had is made at the Wildflower on Thursday nights. I'm still a sushi newbie, but they've really made me a convert. If you're "down the hill" it's worth the drive. Enjoy a meal and wander around Evergreen or take a walk around the lake. Great little eatery in the old town center of Evergreen. No dedicated host so it was a bit confusing to get on the wait list and then seated. I don't care if they have 3 people and we only have 2. If we are there first, we should get seated first. So, I had to ding a star. Anyway, the menu had a good variety. The portions were excellent. We ordered the protein breakfast and a side of sausage. Eggs and veggies were good. The fresh fruit was strangely a favorite thing. Bananas, apples, pineapple, strawberries. Quality! We did not order these, but their house potatoes looked amazing. Thick potato chip style fries. Our neighbors kept commenting on how good they were. The coffee was nice a strong. A lot of folks were sipping mimosas and bloody marys. Very tight seating indoors.
