This place is very good and worth the short drive Into the mountains! We came here after visiting red rock amphitheater and Dinosaur Ridge! Plenty of roadside parking. Drinks are in cans. The vibes here are so cool! It's a house turned into a Mac shack and it just has a fun vibe to it! There isn't a bad seat! Eating outside would be wonderful! We chose to go upstairs and inside and that was also great! It feels like going to your aunt or grandmas house when you were little! Just such cool vibes! I saw they have some merch, but would love to see some stickers!! The service here was very friendly! Understand they are making everything from your order, so it does take time! Don't come here if you are in a major rush! You can't rush perfection! But these guys felt like coming to visit with family! My boyfriend and I got the Mac and cheese flights! A friend from Canada is in town for a visit, and we thought Mac Nation would be a fun choice. We arrived at 6:05. The "hostess" met us immediately and gave us the schpiel about how they're a scratch-made kitchen and the wait time for food was 40 minutes. That we could "eat-in" as long as we were finished by 7, closing time. It felt really odd and unwelcoming. So basically, shove it down your throat in 15 minutes or get the food to go. I feel like a better approach would be after 6pm, all food is to-go. We're hurrying, deciding on a dish, and choose the 3 Flight, only to be told they don't serve that on weekends (then note that on the board!). Then, to top it off, they don't take cash. Sheesh. And I would like to choose my own tip amount, thank you. By the time I paid for my food, I was wishing I had chosen another place. My friend asked for an extra container to split the food portion. The same hostess was kind of a smart Alec about it. She must have had a date at 7:30. By the time we got our food, it was, indeed 15 minutes to eat what we could. The same hostess was cleaning and stacking chairs while we ate. The Mac was delicious. But the experience wasn't. It's been a few years since we ate at Mac Nation. Very disappointing experience. I stopped while riding my bike on an extremely hot day and simply asked to buy a bottle of water a few minutes before opening. Even though the doors were open, I was immediately told "No" and the employee walked away before I could even speak. It's grown quite a bit, and changed of course, but still has delicious mac and cheese in many varieties. Most of the original combinations named for states are gone (except Colorado--with their house-made green chili--is still a favorite) but I'm sure you can order them as Make Your Own (starting at $10) if you recall the ingredients. The menu also has sandwiches, wraps, salads, and a few starters. There's beer, and cold canned pop. Also coffee drinks. I enjoyed the Indiana ($15) and hubby had the Big Italian ($18). If this sounds pricy, know you get about 1 lb of made-to-order food. We had a lot left for another meal, or 2. Most of the seating is outside, very casual, under umbrellas. There is some indoor seating. Pets are welcome! You order at a counter; expect a delay of about 35-minutes for your fresh order. You can order ahead, if you need a briefer wait. Stopped by Mac Nation after a hike near Mount Falcon Park and it was the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon. This place is a hole in the wall roadside spot with a ton of outdoor seating, ideal if you're coming off the trail and want to relax for a bit. When we visited on a Sunday afternoon, they had live music going and the weather was beautiful, which made the whole experience even better. A heads up: everything is made from scratch, so it does take some time. We were quoted a 30-45 minute wait and that ended up being pretty accurate. Honestly, we didn't mind at all, it was great to grab a drink, hang out outside, chat, and enjoy the music while we waited. The portions are huge. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak mac and cheese and it was both filling and really tasty. You can tell they bake each dish fresh, which definitely explains the wait. It's a quirky and interesting place (hence 3-stars, rather than 2-stars), but it doesn't deserve the hype and raves it gets from other reviewers. We had a Sacramento baked macaroni and cheese (40 minutes or so waiting) - OK, but not worth the wait, a Caesar salad (bland), and water (which we had to pay for). Ordering was a nightmare - one had to use the web-based app, but it was finicky - you have to enter your table number but it turns out that the page requires a specific form, and if you get it wrong ("7" rather than "07", then it doesn't work. I had to ask a server for help, but then he wouldn't take my order, just helped me use the app (but getting his attention for that took a while). We will not be going back. read more

Great Mac and cheese, great service, reasonably priced, and such a cute location. Great place to stop by before a Red Rocks show. I've gotten the flight and tried many of the flavors and my favorite is the Wisconsin especially for any cheese lovers. The soft pretzel is another recommendation not for the pretzel but mostly how great the cheese sauce goes with it. It can get a little bit busy and the wait times become a little bit long but just be prepared depending on what time you are going. Recommend for any pre Red Rocks shows. read more

I've been wanting to try this location out and I finally went yesterday! The location is really close to red rocks so it would definitely be a good spot to eat before a concert there. I unfortunately went during one of The hottest days and I sat in the inside area which was pretty toasty but they had a fan going. But again, I went on a scorching hot day. I had the panko Mac and cheese and I added bacon and Parmesan on top. It was delicious! I wasn't able to eat it all for lunch but I finished it off for dinner and it was still as delicious. The great cold beer also helped with the heat a little. The service was great and I was checked on a few times which was nice. I would highly recommend if you're in the area. Mac Nation was a lot of fun because it was so close to where we were staying with a friend and going to a Red Rocks show. The people here were all friendly. The food was yummy. Our friend had found this place from a tik tok so it was neat to try a place she had saw online that was so close by that we had never seen before! I tried their buffalo chicken one and thought it was a solid choice Buffalo chicken and blue cheese with cheeses spiral noodles. They are baked and it's a unique dish. My husband Ryan and my friend Danielle each tried a different one. (I don't remember the names but u can see how delicious they look in the video) We all enjoyed it and it was a lot of food... we all had leftovers! It's a little pricey but they are each specially made and baked individually which is also why there is a long wait. They put a sign out warning how long the wait for the food will be. Ours was a little over an hour so just a little longer than the sign said. I didn't know the wait time thing until we arrived there but now I would know for the future. The seating outdoors is close to the road on a corner and cars speed by here so quickly and there's also a lot of deer crossing so be careful everyone... especially with the littles. Solid four and almost five type of place. Loved the ambiance and variety of choices. The coolest thing is they have a flight option that allows you to choose three different kinds. Food is good. Lady who opened the joint this morning, rude as hell. It was one minute before "opening" I walked over to look at menu and she came out and literally yelled that it doesn't matter if they are one minute or 30 seconds from opening - stay off the property. We visited the first week of October, so the plenty of outdoor seating was nice. The indoor seating was very cutely designed and the bathroom was clean. However, there is only one way to get to most of the seating so trying to navigate through this place is a bit of a hassle. The way to order was very confusing. We ended up talking to others seated around us to ban together to figure out how to place an order. After about 15 minutes of being unable to solve it, I went to order inside, but they told me I must order through the QR code. After finally figuring out how to order (you select the first number as the table, the second as the seat) it took another 35 minutes to get our order. The drinks only arrive with the food too, so we were waiting for those for about 35 minutes too. My husband went out to the car to bring us a bottle of water and was quickly snapped at for going the wrong way to get out of the restaurant (no signs were posted that you couldn't walk that way). Once our food came out the food runner was also very confused about where to take it, along with all the other tables as well. The Mac and cheese was totally fine, but I was expecting the flavor/meat to be mixed through out and not just a thin topping. I also wished we could have ordered smaller sizes. I saw this advertised on IG, and knew immediately that I had to take my wife. She's a Mac n cheese fiend. Easy quick drive not too deep in the mountains! I was surprised parking wasn't really hard to get on a Sunday afternoon. Nevertheless I fell in love with the mountain feel of this place. With outdoor seating and being a dog friendly establishment you'll be able to bring the whole fam bam. We were seated quickly and turnaround was pretty quick. They have all kinds of gourmet Mac n Cheese', I had the Michigan chicken bacon ranch with fresh jalapeño while my wife got the Colorado pork green chili. They were so good and you can order to go, take and bake style. But the coolest thing we couldn't indulge in was the Mac n cheese flights. Available only and week days.
