(How about a couple of heirloom cherry tomatoes to at least provide some color.) Now on to the big disappointment- the Wagyu hamburger! There was so much stuff (lettuce?or possibly another handful of spring mix, tomato, some kind of sauce) piled on top of a thin little wagyu beef patty, my wife could not taste the beef at all. She shared a piece of the burger with me and I'll have to say- not at all impressed. Her fries were excellent, however, but when one pays $23 for burger, it should be an allstar. For $12, Chilis makes one of the best burgers in town and you can dress it how you want.

Every course was outstanding, and the portions left us perfectly full. We also splurged on the wine pairing, and Zac, the wine director, absolutely nailed it. Every pairing elevated the meal. The most surprising part? The tasting menu hasn't gone up in price since they opened in 2017. They could easily charge three times as much, and we'd gladly pay it. Randomly I thought about them and was shocked they had gluten free bread now. My kids were difficult, saying nothing sounded good, acting all picky over everything but they gave in trying something new. Apples and cranberries on a sandwich, the horror! And she hates mustard but left it on, guess what, it's her favorite! Everything was just as we remember. It will be back on our regular rotation. My only complaint is the sides. I have never been a fan of the sides and they haven't changed lol. I wish there was a less adventurous side option, like fruit or a simple salad. But I think I am alone in the complaint lol. I went with the bang bang burger and kale salad -- a side comes with the lunch sandwiches. I was hesitant on kale but she mentioned it gets great feedback and I am glad I tried it! The kale salad has citrus and other goodies in it (sorry, I forget what!) and the kale wasn't tough at all. The dressing is lightly sweet and refreshing. Definitely recommend! The bang bang burger was delicious and filling without being overly heavy. They also had cans of local beer - Huss Blonde and Papago Orange Blossom - and a couple of speciality cocktails, along with various canned and bottled non-alcoholic drinks and fountain drinks. Its a cute shop with a patio and one side was open to the nice weather. A woman stopped to check in - I think she was the manager - who was really nice. Looking forward to coming back for a breakfast sandwich! (And more kale salad)
