Not a place that would normally interest me, but my friend chose it for our monthly meet up mainly because we wanted to walk around the area. We came in for an early lunch and to try their buffet. It's an older establishment with lots of wood accents. I think the bar is the main focus and they do allow smoking inside. The dining area is nearby so keep that in mind. The food was just ok. Salad bar was nice with quite a few options. There's a few hot entrees and sides that I think changes daily. They have banana pudding as well as a few other desserts and a soft serve machine. The price was cheap so that's an advantage. The wait staff was very welcoming and our waitress checked in on us often. Very friendly and personable. $15 AYCE buffet you can't beat it! Especially on a day during grapefest! Plus my littles eat free. Winning! Best deal on the block. Not the fanciest food but not bad all American faire. It's very Smokey with cigar and cigarette smokers at the bar next to the dining area. Live music is nice to have. If I wanted a whole nighttime experience with friends this is it. Ok this is strictly for the service...always top notch!! Tonight was the best so far; we had Cassie...easy going, attentive and funny! The staff is always pleasant here. This place has been here forever and he had been awhile since I'd eaten here. You walk into a bar like area that leads into restaurant seating area. We decided to try the lunch buffet and it didn't disappoint! Their salad bar area is everything to make an awesome salad. Their hot foods were so good. We had roast beef with gravy, pork chops, fried chicken with mixed veggies, mashed potatoes, green beans. They had jalapeño corn bread and it was very good. Went here during the Christmas Capitol of Texas Weekend. Had the buffet, it was very good. Wide variety of sausages, beef, lasagna, salad, and sides. The overall theme is a classic, renovated garage. They have live music most weeknights. Smoking is allowed in the bar area, but the dining room is smoke free. Staff is friendly and attentive. When we handed the bill they charged more than the stated price on the posted menu. Finally checked out the buffet, I was a little hesitant due to the smoking option, but I was pleasantly surprised to not smell any smoke for my first visit. I was so disappointed with my experience here. I came into town and the hotel staff where I was saying and told me that this would be a good place to come. I came and the staff was completely rude. They ignored us for the longest time. And when they finally did come over it was very clear that they did not want anybody from out of town that did not look like them. Disgusting.! read more

We came on a Sunday Jan 26, 2025 evening to meet up with some out of town work friends. It was fairly quiet and empty but there was a good game on and plenty of TVs to watch it on. First impressions- dark, old and somebody was smoking. Idk why anyone allows that anymore. Our server was absolutely amazing though. She was running the bar and tables. She made us some fried okra per my request as our out of towners had never had any. She also brought some pickled okra and green beans to sample. Honestly we had never heard of this place or thought about it. Today my wife and I ate here at Willhoite's in Grapevine. They had a buffet for lunch, all you can eat for $15.00 because of the Festival today and this weekend. The buffet was good, restaurant clean, waiters nice but the restaurant allows smoking in the restaurant. Really surprised us but it was too late. We had already been seated and gotten our food from the buffet line then the smokers started. I asked the waiter about the smoking in the restaurant and she said that the smoking was grandfather in to continued for smoking in the restaurant. This might be good for smokers but terrible for nonsmokers. It will be my last time and only time we will eat at Willhoite's . So, just want to give a heads up to all the nonsmoking people, that this is a smoking restaurant. read more

Went into the dive bar to see some music from Ashmore. The place is a real dive bar. Not clean and lots of smokers. WTF???!!!??? I thought that was not allowed anymore. Kind of ruined the visit. I hosted an after-party for my husband's birthday at Wilhoite's and reserved a private room by the dance floor. It turned out to be such a special night! Beforehand, I met with Sarah, the manager, to go over my plans. She was patient, kind, and incredibly helpful. She even let me drop off decorations early so the staff could have everything ready when we arrived. When we walked in that evening, the room looked just as I had envisioned, and I was so grateful. I have been coming to Grapevine for years, but had never tried this place. Now I have and am glad I did! When you walk in you feel like you are going back in time. I loved the vintage vibe of those place! The service was great and attentive. I was here for the lunch buffet so they did not have to do too much, but they were good at what they did! There were several items on the buffet, from soup, salad, meatloaf, roast beef, chicken, chicken pot pie, and a film array of veggies to accompany those items. This place is only a 2-3* place as a restaurant. Its mostly set up for bar service. Most of the place is smoking, with a small dining area in back designated non smoking. This restaurant is located down town on Main Street in Grapevine. This was our first time visiting Texas so we decided to eat here. It was the first place that popped up on Yelp for buffets. It was a bikers atmosphere. Customers were friendly to my family. We were a party of 6, 4 kids & 2 adults. When we walked up, a gentleman gave us a weird look like why were we there. He proceeded to seat us in a back room next to the dance floor. I assumed it was because we had kids. But I realized it was because there was inside smoking!!! WTH, inside smoking...really! Thank God he sat us in a different room! Our server was Camila. She was absolutely great. We came to this restaurant because of the all you can eat buffet. But we were about 3 minutes late. It closed at 3 but the salad bar was still open. We gave Camila our orders. I really liked the jalapeño poppers. They were filled with cream cheese. Yum! My youngest daughters ordered the kids chicken tenders. They ate it all. They said it was one of the best they had. My 2 preteens had a bacon cheese burger and BLT. They could only eat half but they said they were delicious. My husband had the chicken fried steak. He wasn't a fan. It didn't have flavor and it was tough. I myself, enjoyed the soup and salad bar! The chili was perfect. Camila came to our table just enough times. Always checking to make sure the kids were good. She was very sweet. I had gone to the restroom and noticed a young man (tall, skinny with blond hair) that worked there that did not speak or acknowledge me. He just kept walking in circles around the restaurant. Weird vibes. Even when I looked right at him, he still never spoke to me, he just kept walking around the restaurant. Not sure what his deal was. My friend and I were visiting from out of state and this place was recommended . We went on a Sunday night and it was kind of slow there. We were on vacation and just wanted a couple drinks before heading back to our hotel, after having dinner out. We were not driving, and were using ubers. We ordered our drinks while my friend sat and talked to a local guy and I was mostly just quietly scrolling on my phone. Neither of us were inebriated or acting unbecomingly or inappropriately in any way. Yes, we did have just a few drinks earlier but it was over the course of several hours at an amazing restaurant that we love to go to when we come to Dallas. We were celebrating my birthday and just enjoying the day. I am not a person who even drinks that much at my age and it's very rare for me to be intoxicated as I don't enjoy being in that state and am unable to even consume enough to be incapacitated that way. My friend wasn't impaired either but much to our shock and suprise the bartender told us he couldn't serve us any more drinks and that we were cut off! We couldn't believe it ! We had only ordered one each there and he even asked if we wanted another one but we weren't ready yet and waited a bit before ordering one last one before heading out . Kinda strange that's he offered us another which we didn't take prior to cutting us off !! I just turned 68 and never in my whole life has that ever happened to me, being cut off in a bar!! We racked our brain to understand why and still don't understand what his issue was nor would he explain. My friend was very confused as well and asked him what we had done and she graciously apologized for whatever it was he thought we did, even though we hadn't done or said anything wrong that we could think of. Could it be he didn't like Californians ? (We are conservatives and love Texas by the way!) It was rather humiliating and we left and went to an amazing establishment up the street named, Chill whose servers were amazing and had no problem serving us our ONE cocktail before we headed back to our hotel. Well, we won't be going back or recommending this place . ***Update** After writing this review the bartender messaged me and completely fabricated what happened. He claimed we were stumbling and falling all over each other and slurring our words and using profanity which I would never do in a public place like that and anyone who knows me will vouch for that . Kinda odd no one else we encountered thought we were inebriated like that or being inappropriate . Most people we encountered in Texas were great, really liked us and vice versa !! He also lied and said he saw us stumbling to get in our uber which is interesting since we didn't even leave that establishment from an uber . I was shocked when I walked in and smelled smoke, but I get it they are a bar and that's probably what makes the owner his money so why change things. So we thought we could get through it it was mid day on a Friday. Food wasn't bad on the buffet. I thought it was good value for the money. Service was nice. But the smoke got worse so we had to leave. Would I eat here again? Probably not, unless i sat outside. A few changes (non smoking) they can smoke outside like everyone else does.
