The space was super cool, they were setting up a dj set as we were leaving. I got the 3 piece tenders that were tasty and a generous serving, I ended up having leftovers. Review #929 Posted on 9.15.25 I stopped in for late night takeout around midnight on Friday the 12th/Saturday 13th. This place is cracking basically. Nola, Friday night and they've got trendy food, mainly fried chicken & slushie drinks, great combo at your fingertips right around the corner from Bourbon. The chicken strips honestly were awesome, really quality food for something that quick & late. The breading wasn't too thick/much, it was done excellent, the fried perfectly too. This is a worthy spot for lunch, late night snack, etc. read more

Every time I'm in New Orleans, Willie's Chicken Shack is a must-stop! Last time, I had the fried fish, which was amazing, but this time, I had to try the chicken--and it did not disappoint! Crispy, well-seasoned, and fresh, it might just be my new favorite.Fast and prompt is the service. Ready to get my drink on I stopped at Willie's to get a daiquiri but instead discovered the crispiest chicken ever!!! I mean ever... I didnt know that chicken could get crisper then Church's chicken but NO it's Willie's. And the meal came with a biscuit and that right there is the BEST BISCUIT IVE EVER HAD. After a lot of walking in the area, this chicken place is always a great place for good well seasoned chicken and a biscuit. The chicken is hot, a little greasy but good. The fries are delicious and crisp. I would not recommend the fish. It tasted really fish and wasn't good. read more

The biscuit was very good. The red beans and rice where the fried chicken was fine. The overly sugary daiquiris in the "cockcup" fit the ghetto environment and hillbilly ghetto clientele... Fairly low brow, executed pretty poorly for a fast food restaurant. However, in New Orleans, it is par for the degenerate crowd passing through looking to get black out drunk! Oh Hellll Yeaaaaa! From a Texas Girl, I'm just gonna tell y'all, this place does it right!!! BISCUIT, BISCUIT, BISCUIT!! Just buy an extra!! You'll be glad you did! They are the perfect blend of savory & sweet!! Melt in your mouth delicious! Buy a whole damn box if your trying to sober up! The Buffalo drumettes were amazing but I didn't care for the flats! The chicken breast was flavorful, juicy, and had a perfect crust & crisp!! It could've been a meal by itself! OMG!! Tenders were large and juicy! This rating is for the frozen margarita since I can't really eat here due to being gluten-free. I was waiting in line forever at this little stand in the French Market for drinks that looked pretty tiny. I got tired of the long wait and wandered down the street to Willie's . Esmelvin was working and was very friendly. They have a ton of flavours of the frozen alcoholic slushies. I got the 20 oz frozen margarita and it tasted very good and packed the punch one expects from a margarita. Very satisfied with the quality of the frozen drink and will definitely return on my next trip to NOLA. read more

This location is right by the French Market. I stayed in the French Quarter the week I visited so I stopped by to give me a try. My immediate thought was how funny the staff was. They really made "waiting for chicken" fun lol. We got our food to go since we were about a minute walk from our hotel. Now, the chicken was good, but the sides were not the greatest. In fact, I stopped eating the sides about 2-3 bites in. Chicken went down just fine though lol. I wouldn't stop by again when I head back to NOLA. There are way better options out there. read more

I really wanted to go to Willie Mae's Scotch House for my first trip to New Orleans, but unfortunately it's closed. Came to the Chicken Shack instead. While the chicken was juicy, everything was pretty disappointing from the sauces to the biscuit. And while I expect things to be expensive in the French Quarter the price was a bit much. read more

Great interiors, awesome fried chicken and good selection of draft beers. Eye catching walls. Good southern beers. Both Vuddoo and New Orleans urban south beers were good. We took dark chicken fry and it tasted good, lot more better than KFC. Fries are crispy and tasty too. Overall loved the food and drinks. They are one of few restaurants on Frenchmen street who don't have live music. It more like fast food experience and actually they don't dwell along with local restaurant on same street. Although they play such a loud music that hearing to next person becomes difficult. read more

So small, so unassuming, so delicious~ My mom and I were trying to find somewhere to stop for lunch and check some things off our NOLA bucket list and the chicken was one of the things we wanted to try. We got 3 pc of the chicken tender, the biscuit ,and the jambalaya! We should have ordered more because the chicken tender tore like a piece of paper and was juicy on the inside and crispy. The jambalaya is thicker and drier than others we have ordered but the taste was pretty decent for the price! We didn't try any of the drinks and the service is pretty curt, pretty standard from what I'd expect from a more fast-food chain-style restaurant. Food came out pretty fast so we didn't really have a problem, we did our own thing mostly, so that seems like the vibe. The biscuit was savory and sweet so I nice 'desert-ish' end to the meal. When you order food, you get a reciept, and on the bottom is the bathroom code. The bathrooms were pretty clean in comparison to some of the more public bathrooms in NOLA. Overall, great stop! Come here for the chicken, I probably would go to Voodoo chicken for the drinks but next round of NOLA I'm definitely gonna do an all-out taste test to determine the king frozen daiquiri spot between Voodoo Chicken, Willies Chicken Shack and Fat Tuesday. 2.5 stars. Ah man! I saw these chicken joints everywhere I turned while staying Downtown New Orleans. Our tour guide even said there were around 7 in the area. While exploring we decided to pop in and try them out since we wanted a snack. We ordered the 6 piece chicken combo with a side of cheesey fries and regular fries to share. The chicken was ok and at times too salty. It tasted like the batter was the only thing seasoned and that the chicken was not marinated at all for flavor. The fries were fries, you usually can't mess that up. The bisquits that came with the chicken were so basic. I think the Philsburry dough boy could have done a better job of producing more calorie worthy biscuits. In all, it seems like the drinks are very popular here but I can't speak to that. The plus, was that the place was clean, service was consistent and attentive, and the food was fresh and piping hot when it came out. read more

After having so much fun on Bourbon street, my friends and I decided to walk to the chicken shack to see what the hype was about. When walking in, they have 2 sides, one for pizza and one for chicken. They were packed to the max and it was 2 am! We were in line for about 20 minutes. I ordered the 2 piece white with fries and a side of red beans and rice. I don't remember the price because I was still a bit tipsy from all the shots I took on bourbon. They give you a number and you place it on your table for them to bring it out to you. The chicken arrived hot and crispy, like I like it. Some people in line were asking us how it tasted and what we ordered. The chicken was juicy and seasoned all the way through, the biscuit seemed to be only the biscuit top and it was really soft. The fries were seasoned well also. The red beans and rice weren't as good as the ones I had tasted earlier in the day, but they were hot as well. If you're ever in New Orleans, this should definitely be on your list of places to try. read more

Came round with a local friend as the hankering for fried chicken at some dreadful hour beckoned. I could only watch being Gluten Intolerant and all but I was a good friend to my friend who had to have fried chicken. My trip to NOLA was hilarious 1st of all. Randomly running into my cousin at the airport, only to find out that he was also flying to NOLA. So I then spent the whole day exploring the city with him. A friend of his texted him about the biscuits here. Mind you we just had a big lunch, some beignets and yet we pursued more food. Luckily it was walking distance from where we were. We actually walked by it a few times because it wasn't really apparent that this was the chicken place. They have drinks/slushie/daiquris type in the front and the chicken place is more towards the back. The biscuits- I thought they were okay. Def not want I expected. They were a bit too soft and moist for my liking...def too moist. My cousin, however, thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. LOL and he ordered more. So I would suggest you go and try the biscuits out for yourself. They don't sell individual chicken pieces which is also what I wanted, just to try the chicken without buying a meal. read more

The chicken. Hot, crunchy, juicy, tender delicious fried chicken. Honestly some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. My only critique would be they could use some more spices in the batter. The Mac and cheese was meh. Forget able, plain and uninspired. The biscuit was definitely on the sweeter side and not as flaky as I would of liked. The fried were just off for me. My dinning partner liked it. But to me they were too sweet and lacking seasoning. The sauces on the table I'm told were good I didn't try any. The place was packed. Service was a bit slow but the staff was friendly and accommodating. Over all the chicken is fab but you can skip the rest of it. At least from our experience. read more

Gumbo hit the spot; I was a little sick and needed something soup-like. I prefer gumbo with shrimp, but everything else about it was great. I wish I had ordered more of the chicken. It was mid morning during festival season and I wanted something different to drink. Coming off an 8 day party cruise I wasn't ready to dry up especially in NOLA. Lots of venders were out but I wanted a staple that's in the area. Walking in it was cool and inviting. The girls behind the counter smiled and were eager to take our order. Before I ordered I took a moment to look around; the other patrons in there were enjoying chicken baskets, biscuits, fries, wings, and of course the Tito's Vodka Daiquiris. I can't speak on the food flavors but I can definitely tell you the daiquiris were AWESOME. I don't need a Hand Grenade which I've always had. The strawberry and Piña Colada mix was just perfect with the vodka. I'm a Tito's Vodka girl and this really hit the spot. Looks like I'll be trying to replicate this at home in Florida! read more

Definitely a must-go-to stop when in NOLA. They have delicious frozen drinks and I suggest picking one up on the way to the market. It will be refreshing and delicious all at the same time. My personal favorite is a mix of strawberry and piña colada. If you are in the mood for a quick snack or if you need lunch or dinner or even a late night snack this is the place! They have delicious chicken and the biscuits are the best I have ever had! The food is ordered at the counter and then they give you a number to take to your table. The food was delivered to our table and it was super fresh and piping hot. They have very clean bathrooms (for customers only) and you need a code to get in. Very smart! The food is good, the drinks are better, and the service... ugh the service! They need to get a system that works. We were told to go this cashier and then no go back there to order... which is it?!? Then the guy frying food was going order by order which made for a very long wait. He literally brought wrong food out to my fried and try to force her to take it lol! Of course she wouldn't bc it wasn't what she ordered... then the cook replied well it'll b fifteen minutes?!? What? So I've already waited for ever for you to make something I didn't order and now I've got to wait some more for you to make my actual order? Ok! Ugh! We waited and waited... finally all of our food was delivered. Again, everything was good. I'm giving them one star bc they need to figure out how to give us the food without all the extra craziness. Great place, the staff wasn't super fun. But Mardi Gras did just end and perhaps they are wore out. Fun area and the food was pretty good. The food came out in just a few minutes. You order it at s counter, they bring it to your table. The pina colada's were good. The fries could've been better. The bacon would have better if the bacon were crispy! Everything else about them was great. The fatty chunks of under cooked bacon...not so much. The hubs enjoyed his shrimp. The music was great, and apparently they serve pizza on the other side. We will go back. It was worth it. Don't order the Mac and cheese was meh. Not much better than kraft in a box. Knowing that this place is a chain here, I'm a little disappointed that when asked why would I enjoy the $5 small bowl of Mac and cheese they couldn't answer it. This place is like a one stop shop for food, drinks and music. The slushies are only $15 and you can mix the flavors if you want or just go for a simple drink they can make at the bar. You can order food in the back. There's bar seats and actual dining tables. Cool on a hot night considering the front entrance is open. Went here to get a quick bite before going out for the night. We ordered Cajun crispy wings and fries. Both were really good! Both were well seasoned. There was also a sauce on the table that we assumed was like a chipotle sauce that was very good. Took off a star because we also ordered huge frozen drinks with an added shot that were literally slurpies with a shot and a waste of my time and money! You'd have to drink an excessive amount to feel the effects of the alcohol. A major plus was there was a battle of the bands right outside the door that as a tourist was very exciting and an additive to our trip. Andre makes the best damn Bloody Mary in NO if not Louisiana. The Vodka is infused with peppers, lime and other items that I have forgotten from the buzz I got. I was there on a Monday night and the beers are 2:1 so I killed a lot of brain cells that night. This guy is jumping back and forth making his concoctions. He has Hurricanes that use Bacardi 150 proof and another with Everclear, holy cow! I got to taste the Hurricane and it was really good but with a price of 2 for 1 and the first Monday night game, it was XX x 2 [confused, I'm sorry]. I had only planned on having 1 or 2 but with the girls shopping the praline stores outside, well lets just say that I am NOT going to state how many beers I had. The food is pretty good too. Chicken is tasty and so is the catfish. I was a little disappointed that the online menu states that you get 3 pieces of fish but we only got two. I mentioned it to the cook and she told me that we only get two pieces. We were sharing so it kind of screwed up our plan [again, with all the beers I could no longer divide; dont judge]. Also, the chicken is good as I mentioned but really pricey. This is a counter joint not Maison Cluck! I would defiinitely visit again. We saw these chicken shacks every block or two on our trip to NoLa so felt like we were missing something if we didn't stop. This fried chicken was not only finger-licking good but also saved my life while bar-hopping in the French Quarter. The meat was so juicy that my hands were covered in delicious chicken juice. The flavor and the crunch were on point! I didn't expect the chicken would be this good this late at night. Full disclosure, I did have a few drinks in me by then. read more

So fried chicken at 2am after drinking so much might sound like a great idea. It's not. Don't do it. I give it to them that the chicken is great. The flavor and crispiness of the batter is superb. The fries are perfect. Just my experience after I tried to sleep with this combination in me was not great. Not your fault Willie! You keep making that chicken right! read more

Ordered 3 piece catfish with fries and 2 BlueMoons. Wifey had to use the bathroom and they would not give her the code for the bathroom until I paid the bill. We got one tartar sauce for three pieces of catfish and they wanted to charge us $1.25 per packet. They were exceptionally rude and condescending and I would recommend you never come here.
