One thing to know before you go: unlike many chicken spots, you can't order individual pieces. The menu starts with a 2-piece meal for $14.99, which includes fries and a biscuit. Not exactly a bargain, but portions are fair for the French Quarter where everything comes with a tourist tax. The atmosphere is loud, colorful, and over-the-top New Orleans. Neon lights, daiquiri machines, and a cotton-candy-cloud ceiling make it impossible to miss. This review is strictly about the chicken. I'm not a fan of the super-sugary daiquiris, so I can't speak much to the drinks. The name is basically the gist of this place. Their wings were pretty good and their drinks are what you'd expect. Some are stronger than others and you're allowed to sample before making a choice. I'd suggest you do that before committing because some of the drinks are way more sugary than others. For me? I got them crispy, and they were decent, but for that price I definitely expected more. There were three people behind the counter, and unfortunately, none of them were very friendly. It gave off the vibe that they just didn't want to be there. I do want to give a shout out to the COOK, though--he was very friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. My boyfriend ordered a frozen daiquiri in their signature cup, and it was $28--geez! I asked for two flavors swirled together, but instead of swirling them, the guy just layered them. Small detail, but still disappointing. They're definitely getting all the church's money during Mardi Gras lol. Overall, I probably won't be back. The restaurant was small which was understandable given the many locations I found. I ended up getting the 4 piece chicken meal. The waffle fries hit the spot but wasn't spectacular. The chicken though was fire. It had all the southern heat you could want. I was very happy with the chicken. The meal also came with a biscuit which was very dry for my taste. Came here for a quick bite to eat and drink before hitting up bourbon street. Went with a tenders meal with voodoo sauce and a cold beer. The first two beers I tried to get were both out of tap, but as they say third times the charm! Chicken and the fries were both hot and fresh and made for a very tasty meal. I went to New Orleans for a conference last month and ended my final night with Voodoo Chicken & Daiquiris. I was with a stalwart late-drinking crew, walking back to our hotel after closing out Bourbon Street, when we came upon this place. It was still open at 4AM, the neon lights inviting us in. Sarah T. stopped and said, "I could have one more drink," and all five of us went in, no one willing to go to bed before the party officially ended. I'm a middle-aged mom in my regular life, and I was a little drunk but also high on this singular gift of a night: the hours of merriment with this crew of old and new friends, the first, but for all we know only time we'd hang out in this configuration. I was feeling expansive, is what I'm saying, and bought fried chicken, daiquiris, and commemorative T-shirts for us all. I think we were the only customers early on that Sunday morning, but the place still felt fun and festive, lit up in Mardi Gras colors. Service was quick and competent. We got our daiquiris right away, pulled from giant slushy machines into colorful half-yard plastic cups with skulls on the bottom. When I tried to order fried chicken meals from the menu, the cashier point to the mostly depleted display case and said that was all they had left. I told her to give us all the remaining fried chicken, and that's what arrived at our table. The daiquiris were delicious, like boozy Jamba Juices. The Blue Bayou was tropical and electric blue, with "tropical flavors of pineapple and island coconut" (the wording leads me to believe that actual fruit never made it in) blended with vodka, gin, rum, and blue curaçao. The Jazz Funeral had "flavorful notes" of orange, peach, and mango. I'm not sure what the alcohol was in that one, but it was there. I don't remember the fried chicken that well. I think it was fine, if not the freshest at that hour. We got maybe ten pieces, split five ways, and I can't say whether we finished them or not. I can say everything was astonishingly expensive. Three daiquiris and the dregs of the chicken warmer cost over $180, and that's before I went back for the T-shirts. I almost called the "next" day, when I stopped to think about it, because I thought there'd been a mistake. But I guess with each daiquiri going for $25, I only had to buy about $60 of chicken before tax and tip, which seems stupid but plausible. We left after 5:00, when the place closed, exhausted but still giddy, wearing our new shirts. I fell asleep in mine then woke up four hours later, brushing my teeth and running out the door. I had two panels that morning, in front of hundreds of people, and I did them looking crazy, with the Voodoo Chicken & Daiquiris mascot staring out at the audience. I love the T-shirt, which is comfortable and well designed, and I've worn it several times since coming home, writing on my couch or doing school drop-off. It's a nice memento from this wonderful night in New Orleans. read more

I beg you, if you want a Po" Boy, do not go to this establishment. I had several Po" Boys on this visit. Today I got the chicken tender version. .Literally on each half of the sandwich there were two tiny tenders (cut in half, I assume to make it look more substantial). Basically it was just bread with a tiny bit of tender and some lettuce and tomato . By far the worst I've had in my entire life. I showed an employee, and all he said was "I'm sorry you had that experience." Please do not visit this establishment. I hate leaving negative reviews. But this one deserved it. I could not figure out how to leave Zero Stars. Gumbo Kitchen, about a block away on Canal Street is FAR superior. The restaurant was empty so she took her time breaking different meals down and I appreciated the time she took with me. Food was decent at best, actually disappointing if I'm being completely honest. I had the Voodoo wrap, Natchitoches Pie (meat), and the honey butter biscuit. The rice in the wrap was really hard, I felt like I could have chipped a tooth biting into it. We also got a side of the red beans & rice, because why not since you are already going to carb town. It took a little bit for our order to come up, but that was because they had to cook the chicken right then and there. While they were doing that, I ran down to Popeye's real quick to get some mashed potatoes and cole slaw, because I need cole slaw and mashed potatoes with my chicken. That killed some time and in he meanwhile, we were grooving to the tunes. We didn't do the Daiquiris but we saw quite a few people coming in to get them, so I guess they were made right. The chicken had a nice flavor and was juicy. The meal came with fries, but I didn't eat them, so I can't speak to them other than to say that The Doctor finished his wit no complaints. The biscuit was always nice and I have to say that it paired perfectly with the Popeye's cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The red beans & rice were also good...not too spicy or soupy. While the food was good, it is not good for value. Chicken and wings are on the high side and I mean higher than what I pay in Chicago. I would have liked to have tried the wings, but the price was too high for me, even more than what is being charged in Chicago. But if the chicken is anything to go by, they most likely will be good too. While we had a nice quiet evening in our room, I am not sure if we will spend that kind of money on chicken and biscuits. read more

Sunday,  I was highly disappointed with my hand grenade from  the popular tropical isle (but that's a different story for a different review). I passed by this spot a few times over the weekend, so yesterday, I decided to slide on in and give them a shot.  Cute spot; it was empty when we walked in. Clean and open area. The young lady working may have been on her break when I walked in. The way she was chowing down that chicken made me feel guilty for the interruption. She was able to assist me with narrowing down my flavors - blue bayou & voodoo punch hit the spot for me. I was thrown off because the prices displayed on the board were different from what she rang me up for. I wasn't ready for the upcharge. Nonetheless, I was very satisfied with my drink.
