This was my first time in a long time visiting Willy's. Willy's is a diner that serves really good menu items from locally produced farms. It's a small, busy establishment, so there's never hardly any seating there when I go, but the staff is really nice, and I always call in my food ahead so I never really have to deal with much of a wait, although standard wait times range from 15-25 minutes. I got the big boy breakfast, they didn't have the coffee crusted flank steak so I settled for the ribeye, with cheese eggs and home fries. My meal was ok. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium but it was medium well, and lacked seasoning and flavor. Not bad, just not what I was looking for. We also got the Challah bread French toast, turkey bacon, and although we ordered grits, with this meal, we got home and realized they weren't packaged with our food. My three year old enjoyed his Mickey Mouse pancake and sausage a lot. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience at all. Willy's just used to be my go to, and today didn't live up to those old standards.

My husband and I went to this restaurant for the first time this morning. We love locally owned, small businesses. However, this one disappointed. The restaurant is small, but that is fine. It was packed. Obviously there are a lot of people who are regulars. The decor is dark and a little outdated. However, they are festive. There were already easter decorations. As soon as we walked in one of the weight staff hollered over to us that we could see ourselves. Not long after we sat, someone was by to take a drink order. Our food order was taken a few minutes after our coffee arrived. Our food took quite some time to come out, but it looks like they have a skeleton crew, so we weren't very surprised. I ordered a Belton waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, and it came out plain. No strawberries or whipped cream. My waffle also came with bacon and eggs. My husband ordered the sausage and gravy and it came with aside of home fries and bacon. My husband said his food was OK, but it was nothing to write home about. Despite the fact that my waffle did not come with strawberries, the waffle itself was OK. Again, nothing to write home about. For what we got, the meal was also very expensive. We were very surprised when the check came. This seems like a nice neighborhood spot, but it's not somewhere that we will be going back to.

The place is un-assuming it is on a corner with parking, once you arrive seat yourself. The server comes over and is extremely pleasant and funny. My recommendations would be the Habanero burger it was delicious and the COLESLAW (yum).. I tried the blueberry crumb it was delicious and the cherry crumb was good. I suggest you drive over to WILLY's and check it out yourself.

Willys is Farm to Table as much as possible

Organic comfort food served pleasantly by nice staff. I almost didn't want to write this because I wanted to keep it my little secret. But, if you're in northern Anne Arrundel county at any time, there is no way this place is a secret. Everything here is locally sourced by the owner because of his great relationships with local organic suppliers It's great to taste fresh orange juice, milk, fresh off the farm, Every entree is tasty and imaginatively prepared. His staff doesn't seem to turnover either. That says a little to me. And it's nice because I always feel like I am walking into a friends house for a meal.

My husband were out and about one morning and drove past Willy's Kitchen, so we decided to stop in. Boy, am I glad that we did. We have a great experience and cannot wait to return. The venue is really tiny, no real waiting area, so after placing our names on the waitlist we sat in our car. The restaurant was completely packed, but the service is fast and efficient, so the tables are turned around quickly. My husband and I were seated at the bar, which was kind of out of the way, it also allowed us to chat with the staff who were all friendly and personable. My husband order the The Breakfast Sampler while I had to the Farmer BLT. My husband practically devoured his food! He is a big fan of sausage gravy, but can never seem to find one that he likes. But he really enjoyed the sausage gravy at Willys! As for my meal, it was so flavorful, I didn't even add any condiments to the sandwich. It is amazing that such a simple dish could be packed with so much flavor. Best believe, Willy's Kitchen will see me and my husband again real soon!

Second visit for breakfast (last was probably over 5 years ago). Just as busy as last time! When we entered, we wrote our name and party size on the paper near the door. There are only two chairs in the waiting area and an extremely small foyer, so if your party includes guests with limited mobility, you might want to have them wait in the car until your table is ready. They have counter-seating and tables available. The dining area is small, and they work to clear tables quickly so people can be seated. When we were seated, we were offered beverages and menus quickly. The food was very good, but not hot (biscuits and gravy had to be eaten first, and it was lukewarm at best. Don't care much about pancake temperature). Refills were provided as needed. Condiments were ready to go on the table. I liked how the three front-restaurant staff worked together to keep everything running, and expressed appreciation for each other. It was also nice to see a notes/tip box that was designated for kitchen-staff only. A bit loud with happy guests, so don't come expecting to have a quiet conversation.

This place has the absolute best food and customer service, that I've received, in MD. I had the chicken sandwich on Monday -- BOMB!!! So, I went back for the chicken and waffles on Wednesday!!! Again -- BOMB!!! And the ladies, on both days, were very welcoming and super friendly! Anytime I visit this area, I will visit Willy's Kitchen!

Farmer Sample Breakfast - Farm Scrapple was outstanding

Went to Willey's Kitchen for breakfast on 10 July and really enjoyed it. Hole in the wall breakfast place that served up large tasty portions. Service was excellent and the ambiance was, well, hole in the wall pleasant. Need a hardy breakfast in the Ferndale / Cromwell Light Rail area, go to Willey's.

I Willy Like It Willy's Kitchen has been bringing housemade, locally-sourced/produced ingredients and goods to this little suburb of Baltimore for over twenty years now. We were only in the Baltimore area for a short while and knew that we couldn't pass up getting some fresh Chesapeake Bay Crab--even if it was for breakfast! The Good: *Fairly large menu with a nice variety for anyone and everyone. *Supporting your local area when dining here as most of the main ingredients are sourced locally--even the bison! *We both enjoyed our crabby breakfasts: the Crab Explosion Omelet and Chesapeake Crab Cake Benedict. They were both full of crab with perfectly cooked eggs. *Great prices as Crab-filled dishes like this would fetch twice the price back home in The Bay. *Cozy location with pleasant and understated décor. The Meh: *Coffee was decent. Nothing spectacular but your run-of-the-mill diner cup o' Joe. The Ugly: *Service was a little gruff, but that's almost to be expected in this part of the country, as "Charm City" isn't exactly a fitting moniker. TLDR: Tasty home-cooked grub with a side of sass.

The food was great! This place is so charming and unassuming. There's so much to look at when your there. There's even a wall that the regulars can bring in their own coffee mug and leave, isn't that just so great. Plus they buy local. The service was great, even though our server claimed she wasn't on her A game. I will definitely return AND spread the word. read more

This was one of the best experiences I've had from the time I walked through the door until I left. Not only is the waitstaff very hospitable but the food is amazing and fresh. I decided to try the softshell crab BLT that was suggested to me, and wow was it a burst of flavor. One of the staff even shares the same name as I do, wonderful coincidence. I will be back with company! If you get the opportunity to stop in, do yourself a favor and do so! read more

The food is good. I came for breakfast on a Sunday. Very busy so be prepared to wait. The only thing the potatoes were not cooked well. I would order something else next time instead of this side. read more

Pros: Got take out. Food was ready when i arrived They gave us a generous amount of syrup With the exception of the kids french toast, the portions are good. The "mickey" pancake is big for a kids meal. My wife liked her gritz. The bacon wasn't shriveled up and tiny. Cons Flavor was pretty meh for most things we got. I got the sweet potato pancakes. They tasted like whole wheat. I should have known since it was in the "healthy section". My daughter's pancakes were pretty bland too. All in all, it wasn't bad but there are better options for breakfast in the area for similar prices or less. I would like to try their Bison Burger though so I may be back read more

Honey (or I mean "Amanda") was very pleasant and prompt. To much to compliment. Had the French Toast and sausage links. Both very tasty! Really like the Maple Syrup. Was going to go with the "regular" but decided to go with Maple instead... great decision. read more

The best thing about Willy's Kitchen is its service. It's been a long time since we've left a restaurant feeling like we just left momma's kitchen and her embrace. We found this place based off its great reviews and proximity to BWI airport. We came on a weekday mid-morning, so we didn't have to deal with a weekend breakfast/brunch crowd. The joint is cozy, so I'd be curious to see how insane it is on a weekend. The premise is simple - fresh, locally-sourced goods, farm to table. From the moment we came in, we were warmly welcomed. The menu has a huge selection. When we placed our order, our waitress practically lit up with a huge smile and got excited as we made our choices. I was taken aback by how genuine and enthused she was. She also made suggestions on what went well with certain dishes, while another staff member teased her to lay off the customers. While we waited for our food, our coffee mugs never went empty. We watched as the staff said farewell to regulars by their first names and gave out hugs - "See you next Thursday!" or "We'll see you on Friday!" The staff would also playfully crack jokes at eachother - you can tell they enjoyed being there. When our waitress found out it was our first time there, she was genuinely pleased. She'd point out different dishes that some regulars were eating, highlighting her favorites. She had an absolutely infectious cackling laugh as she moved around the restaurant, cleaning up or tending to customers. It was evident, for both new and old customers, they treated everyone like family. I enjoyed my Crab Explosion, but I loved my husband's Special more. He had the Softshell Crab BLT. It was a giant sandwich with crab legs sticking out from the sides. It was an entire fried soft-shell crab topped with a fried egg that drizzled yolk over the entire sandwich as you bit into it - divine. I definitely plan to stop in again when I'm near BWI. I'll give the food a 4 for now, but the service is definitely 5 stars. We left positively glowing with the generous and warm attitude of the restaurant. Definitely recommend! On a different note, parking lot is small, but I'm sure you can find parking in the neighboring area/streets. read more

This tiny little diner like restaurant is quaint and very popular among locals. Home town folks and great food. Willy's is known for Farm to Table dining and a few things are available for carry out like free range eggs. Really inventive and unique french toast recipes. Peaches and cream, captain crunch french toast, berry compote french toast all very yummy. Most things are made from scratch so be prepared to wait a bit. The fried green tomatoes are good. Farmers BLT is excellent. Service is usually great with a smile. On the weekends the wait can get long. Clean but small restrooms. Front door could use a good cleaning. read more

Man! I had high expectations. However, I've been sitting here going on 25 minutes waiting for a grilled chicken salad!! A salad!! They got 4.5 stars for a reason and why I came here but damn...so far no good. The waitress is friendly though. The pics are on point. Nice, little quaint place in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Already thinking if I would come back and I would like to but with the service being as slow as it is...probably not. I'm basically here by myself, no one else waiting. One other couple sitting across from me and they're done with their meal. Another 3 person party just walked in. So seriously, why the wait????!!!! Update: Salad finally came out when I was finishing the last paragraph. The chicken was good. Nobody's perfect. So no hard feeling towards this place but this one is a one and done for me. read more

"... this tastes like a nap..." It really did! This was another place that I stumbled upon thanks to YELP. It's the cutest little kitchen counter diner complete with caricatures of the employees! My friend and I sat at the bar and enjoyed the banter from the waitresses and lusted over the dishes that pushed through the pass through. We ordered the breakfast sampler and the chicken and waffles. Everything was delicious . . . hands down . . . but the chicken and waffles??!! . . . AMAZE-balls! We truly had a great time from the ambiance to the customer service and topped off with fantastic feel good food. read more

I love this place! They pride themselves on using only local, farm-fresh ingredients and it's obvious. The specials regularly change, but the regular menu is pretty fantastic. You have to try the Fried Apple and Granola French Toast (it's one of my favorites)! It's got an old-time theme, which is a nice touch. Great option for good eats if you're in and around BWI (it's just a few minutes from the airport). read more

This is a wonderful diner with lots of organic and local farm to table options serving traditional American breakfast. The service is great and the customers are friendly. April and Noah took care of us, and they did an impeccable job, refilling our coffees and getting us whatever we needed in a timely manner. I love that the food comes from local, humanely raised sources, and that the servers knew most of the patrons by their first names. Willy's is a small place, you may have a wait, but it is totally worth it. I would recommend them for a delicious home cooked breakfast to anyone. read more

Found this place on a list of 15 best places to eat in MD so I decided to try it out. I got the #4 which is French toast, 2 eggs and choice of meat. The French toast was really good, but the bacon was amazing. Super crispy and fresh tasting!! Food is all locally sourced with the farms actually written out on the back of the menu, clearly they care about quality, local, fresh ingredients. Place has a large bar area so easy to sit with 1-2 people without waiting for a table. Popularity with locals is evident in that the place is almost packed on a Friday mid morning!! read more

Basic average diner fare. My eggs were a bit undercooked. Nothing particularly wowing. The rye toast, which I had with orange marmalade, was quite good. Still, the toast should not be the best part of a meal. read more

Stopped in for breakfast and got a daily special - a crab and chorizo omelette sprinkled with a little bit of Old Bay. It was a sweet/spicy/savory treat. The side of grits was worth waiting for as they had to make a fresh batch. So creamy! Wendy, our server, was friendly as she kept up with the mostly full dining room engaging in friendly banter while keeping the orders moving. This is a great little spot right off the highway near the airport (BWI), and worth visiting! read more

Breakfast is awesome, check out the creamed chipped beef on toast! The sampler platter is great, too, with sausage, biscuits and gravy AND creamed chipped beef on toast (don't tell your cardiologist)! Dinners are great and the prices are reasonable. Fresh food! read more

This place came well recommended and I have given it 3 chances. All fresh local food should make for excellent dishes but everything I have had so far fell short for me. Someone told me they had the best burger of their life from Willy's, mine tasted no better than a burger I've had from many diners before - and this one claimed to be using top notch meat, I didn't taste anything above par. I want to start by saying I really enjoy this breakfast spot but today was a little disappointing due to the fact it took 50 minutes to get our food and my husbands chicken and waffles was skimpy with a very small piece of chicken. Now we have ordered chicken and waffles before here and it was a hefty serving to support the $14.99 cost. I do want to point out that the waitress was great and there are no complaints there. read more

Willy's is that local favorite, home town restaurant with good service, great food and that country diner feel. This cozy haunt serves fresh local meats with breakfast and a darn good cup of coffee. This was my first time here and likely not my last. I was hooked when I entered the place and couldn't open the door due to the patients waiting for a seat. I thought to myself, this must be the right place if all these smiling people were glad to wait. I was greeted by Kathy as I wrote my name on the waiting list whiteboard. She jokingly told me I was the next host. I choose the Farmer Sampler. The fresh from the farm meats were delicious. Good people, good food and good atmosphere don't pass this one up. Meet the Business Owner: Nicki H.

As a graduate of Baltimore International Culinary College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Nicki decided that in 2002 opening her own restaurant was the next step in her life. She decided to name the restaurant after her grandfather who opened Hubers Bus Service in 1961, which sits next door to the restaurant, she jokingly said "he had more friends than I did, that's why I named it after him"! After 9 years of success, she decided to go back to school this time for an M.S in Nutrition & Integrative Health, and is anticipating graduation in August 2013. She has since incorporated many of the teachings from her current studies into the restaurant. Many of which include serving food that is as close to mother nature as intended, as well as LOCALLY sourced meats, dairy & vegetables. She feel this has improved upon what was already good quality food.

I don't question a restaurant's right and need to be closed on Mondays. I am used to that. I just need to know if they are or not without actually facing the locked front door.

When I asked a staff member if the lights could be turned on, she explained that the owner prefers to keep them off. I hope they reconsider, as better lighting would make the arcade much more enjoyable. There are single-occupancy restrooms near the arcade that were much less busy than those by the main dining area. Since our last visit, we also learned that the former liquor store next door has been converted into an overflow dining room when the main restaurant is busy, and it's also used for private events. Despite the wait, Angie, our server, was excellent. She was personable, attentive, and even happy to take a group photo for us. The food was great. I especially enjoyed the Old Bay wings, rockfish tenders, soft shell crab sandwich, and waffle fries. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal, and we look forward to returning.

Little gem! Love farm to table restaurants! Willy's truly is, and they don't "just say it" like so many others do nowadays. They advertise farm to table and it is reflected in the quality and taste. The food, staff and atmosphere are why we go. We most often go for breakfast, and have enjoyed everything we order. And they have the best coffee, too! We would rather support a local business than chains, especially when the food is fresh, healthy and sourced from local farmers. It doesn't disappoint. The vegetables and fruit are fresh and always changing. It's small and cozy inside... love the atmosphere. Another thing that stands out is the friendliness and good spirit of both staff and the regulars. We've made some friends here the past few years, and had many conversations with the other regulars, who also carry on a humorous rapport with some of the waitresses. Willy's Kitchen always puts us in an even better mood than when we arrived. We don't write many reviews, and a lot of places don't warrant the time and effort. I almost didn't want to write this review because Willy's feels like such a hidden treasure -- but it's too good not to share! If you're ever in northern Anne Arundel County, you have to stop by. Willy's serves organic comfort food that's both fresh and imaginative. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, and you can truly taste the difference that locally sourced ingredients make. The owner has built strong relationships with local organic farmers, and it shows -- from the fresh-squeezed orange juice to the creamy, farm-fresh milk. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff couldn't be nicer -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely proud of what they serve. Since our first visit this past spring, Willy's has definitely become our breakfast favorite spot. We're not locals, but we still try to visit there at least a few times per month. Our favorites are the bacon and provolone omelet, sweet potato pancakes, and banana/walnut french toast. There are two types of locally-sourced bacon, and don't forget to ask for real maple syrup if you'd like a real treat. Also, the Pfefferkorn's coffee from Locust Point Baltimore is perhaps the best coffee I've ever had at a breakfast shop. Now we just need to try them for lunch and dinner. read more

I absolutely loved my experience at this restaurant. It's so small, yet cost and warm. Everyone was very welcoming when my friend and I arrived. We sat at the counter. We were immediately greeted. The menu had many healthy options which is right up our alley. And it was presented so beautiful and it was yummy. We had the avocado toast. Haven't been there for several years and I'm glad we decided to go back. Breakfast was very good. A lot of choices for everyone. The sweet potato pancakes, with cinnamon were very flavorful. Chipped beef with homefries was quite tasty. Prices were reasonable for the amount and food and they buy local! Definitely going back to check out the dinner -- we looked at that menu and it left us wanting more. read more

The food was really good and the portions were huge! The staff was very friendly and you can tell they have a lot of regular customers. The only down to it was the waiting time to be seated, although once we were seated on our table the food did not take that long. read more
