This was a lovely and cozy spot in Glen Burnie. Interior space is a little small, so you could be waiting if you come a little later. We arrived around 8am on Saturday and it was already full, but a table opened up when we got there. The menu boasts supporting local farmers. One ordered the steak and it was excellent and perfectly medium rare - which is hard for many diner-type places. We had to try the crab balls since it was a seasonal special. To me, it was ok, but apparently it's a crowd favorite. Only disappointment was the pancake - it wasn't completely mixed so some bites had an overwhelming baking soda taste. All the portions were quite large. Flavor is what you'd expect from an American Diner type restaurant. The staff was friendly and willing to help. Be ready to wait though. Everything is made to order, so the food doesn't come out right away. But you'll have to remind the servers, because we saw our plates waiting at the counter and the food had cooled down by the time it got to the table. read more

Willy's is our typical breakfast go-to-take-out spot; ordering out many-a-times, previously warned dining in could have long waits (both for seating & food)- all previous visits we've enjoyed the ease of ordering to-go and the delicious flavors of our meals..but during this particular visit, our first time ordering on a busy weekend, we learned the chaos of a busy weekend can really impact the quality of the meals. We ordered our normal favorite dishes: two ham & cheese omelettes w.rye bread, a breakfast sampler, two short stacks, and a crab explosion omlette w.grits & rye bread Receiving a text my order was ready, I arrived to discover the noted chaos inside-a quite long waiting list, with impatient diners in the waiting area, pointing out it seemed none of the seated diners even had food at their tables. I felt lucky to see my order packed & ready to go. But due to the busyness, it took quite a while for me to be able to check out. I was asked by multiple staff if I needed to add my name to the waitlist, but when I said no I just need to pay for my to-go & go, they said someone else would help me, and the wait continued When finally stopping someone, by practically begging can I interrupt you to just pay & grab my food, I began to check the bags- the friendly staff member took over, holding up each container, listing what was inside-realizing they forgot a few items-adding to our bag, and ensuring me I was "good to go"..only to get home and discover they forgot items they said were actually in the bag already. I will say, for what was in the bag- everything was packed well for to-go travel- the syrups, butters, sauces, gravy, and more traveled well. As for the taste; a toss up between what same delicious quality & very underwhelming quality compared to previous visits Pros: The Breakfast Sampler had great flavor-fluffy moist pancakes, thick french toast, hearty juicy sausage, well-cooked crispy bacon, flaky buttery biscuit well-sauced w.peppery gravy- Short stacks are LARGE pancakes w.unique tangy buttermilk sweetness- wonderfully fluffy- melted butter keeping them moist Cons: The omelettes were inconsistent & overall barely stuffed; the two ham omlettes-one had large ample chunks of ham- the other was probably 90% cheese w.barely any ham- the home fries were undercooked, oily, and barely seasoned. The crab explosion (cost wildly went up due to market price-which wasn't advertised)-disappointing because for a higher price it was very barely stuffed-mostly melted cheese-definitely not as 'explosive' as we've had in the past. and well they forgot the grits so can't comment on their anticipated taste. (I normally give Willy's 5 stars, took a star off for the quality of this visit, but if I rated this visit alone it would be a 2.5) Again, we do frequent Willy's because we typically enjoy the hearty dishes, having out favorite go-tos- but this visit was very disappointing. We resolved to avoid weekend breakfasts because the chaos seemed to really impact the quality. read more

Quick find a few minutes from our hotel. Came here for the crab cake Benedict and it didn't disappoint!! The menu had several options but we knew what we wanted when we came in. There were quite a few patrons in the restaurant already taking up majority of the tables so we sat smack dab in the middle. An older lady waited on us and was very attentive and had great service. In town to drop off someone at the airport bright and early ... so we rewarded ourselves with breakfast. Yelp didn't disappoint with Willy's. Looks a little rough from the outside ... it's basically an old house with an awning or tent out front (not open now) with limited parking. Just the way I like it! Inside was more of the same, but super clean, cozy and friendly. The staff was most generous and engaging ... if Cheers was a breakfast spot, this would be it (though they are open for lunch and dinner also!) The menu is extensive ... but not in the redundant diner sort of way ... in a creative, unique and tasteful sort of way. Specials for the day were posted on the chalkboard over the bar ... Snickers French Toast ... Fried Oysters and Grits etc. My wife got the special French toast w/ a sausage patty on the side. My son always gets a BEC on plain bagel ... but opted for Willy's version on sourdough with habanero cheese (not spicy) and he loved it. I got Willy's omelet w/ homemade grits and fresh rye toast. I asked if I could add 2 fried oysters and they obliged ($3 each). Everything was FANTASTIC. Coffee was typical diner style ... and while tasty, wasn't super hot, my only complaint. Well, that and they didn't have any form of corned beef hash on the menu ... which is my go-to at any breakfast spot. It was a quiet day, but our waitress said it's usually packed on the weekends ... our lucky day! There were tons of regulars sharing a meal with us ... and everyone was super friendly. One of the best this kind of Crab cakes here in Maryland that means = in the world. I ordered "Maryland Crab cake Lunch" this can be as plate like mine or sandwich. Very pure crabby texture and flavor from the cake ball and they broil it. I actually love fried one as well but most restaurants recommends broil and Willy's don't give choice just broil and that is good too. As you may know, some place use too much mayo or salt and spices but this is mostly chunk of crab. Dipping sauce is a mayo based tar-tar sauce and it's not strong but just enough spices and chopped veggie. It's $20. For the lunch plates with one side, I took French fries both came toasty hot hot hot!!! In the counter there was a glass door cooler with pile of glass bottle milks and I wonder. She said that their favorite breakfast menu such as Pancakes, French toast etc uses a lot of it. Visible, Fresh local glass bottle milk, cream and butter milk are used for that morning favors. GLEN BURNIE, Md. - A big step above your typical diner. Wife and I went around 830 on a Saturday morning. Small place of just a handful of tables and counter space. Be aware you'll wait. But the food and service are worth it. My pulled pork, scrambled eggs, black beans and salsa atop tortillas ($17) was tasty snd and a big portion. Wife's French toast w/ fried apple and granola ($16) was similarly big and sweet but not cloyingly so. No skimping on the apple. French toast had a slight crunch on the outside but soft inside - really well done. Very reasonable prices. Just be aware you don't go for a quick bite, between the wait for a table and the time for good prep. At least on Saturday mornings. But again, worthwhile. We shall return. read more

I've been wanting to check Willy's out for almost a year, and I'm so glad I finally made it! Any time I can support local family businesses is a win, but it helps when everything is delicious too! I came here with a group and enjoyed some of the outdoor parking lot seating (it was the best spot for 6 of us to fit). It was a beautiful day out and I loved the bit of shielding from the wind. The staff was so kind and accommodating and always made sure to check on us. I am not usually a "salad as meal" kind of person, but the strawberry goat cheese salad looked too good to pass up. I asked if I could sub the steak for grilled chicken, and they had no problem with that. The grilled chicken was incredible, as was the salad itself! Clean plate club! In the area this morning so I decided to find some breakfast. What do you know a 4.5 star joint on Yelp so here I go. When you walk into the place,m you feel like you've entered a restaurant in a small town or something ... it's cozy with about 9 or 10 tables and a bar area. There are definitely regulars there, but I was glad the waitress while interacting with them didn't ignore the newcomers such as myself she was really nice. I got a breakfast platter. I had platter that included bacon which I swapped out for turkey bacon and a biscuit that comes with pork gravy, which they were nice enough to swap out for the chip beef gravy instead. It came with two pancakes that were as big as my face and a slice of challah French toast, which was really good. The turkey bacon were nice thick pieces and the biscuit was pretty good. I ordered the fresh apple cider because I'm a big fan but In my opinion this didn't taste fresh it tasted bottled who knows?!?! From the time I ordered to the time I sat down on a Sunday morning was about 20 to 25 minutes not too bad. read more

Leaving Baltimore and I was searching for a brunch spot. I'd never seen or heard of Willy's so I decided to give it a shot. It's a small roadside diner that has a lot in the front and rear of the building. I went and was seated at the counter. They were only serving lunch and dinner at the time. I opted for Mom's meatloaf, apple sauce, and French fries. The fries were perfect. Crunchy exterior, soft interior, seasoned well and the meatloaf gravy kicked it up a notch. The Apple sauce was chunky (which I LOVE) and not overly sweet with a touch of cinnamon added. The meatloaf was cooked properly but was kind of bland. The gravy was excellent, though, and once I added ketchup it was quickly devoured. I really like the fact that all the food is locally grown and sourced.. Customer service was pretty good, too. I'll be back because I really want to try their breakfast menu. read more

Solid breakfast place close to the airport. The service is efficient and closely mimics a dinner atmosphere. There used to be outdoor seating but that is cancelled now and I can understand. There is a kids menu and a decent amount of indoor seating...coffee was average so if you are going for a cup of Joe (pass on it). Positives include their Omelette's, pancakes, and quick service. Prices were adequate to what one would pay for home cooked breakfast. An assortment of sausages (pause)...head straight for the pork links....thats the best advice I have for you. read more

I was surprised that the place actually got emptier after that. I guess they cater to an earlier crowd. I ordered the fried chicken and grits, and my boyfriend ordered the banana nut French toast. My dish was good, especially the breading mix on the chicken. No ketchup needed. They put alfalfa sprouts on top of my meal for garnish that I didn't like the texture of, but it was easy to move them to the side of the plate. He liked his French toast and I agree based on the bite I had. Glad to see they use challah for their French toast. I will warn that the place is small on the inside. There's very little room for parties to wait for a table by the door, so I'm not sure what they do when it gets really busy. read more

I was on my way out of the country but was in need of some good food. I decided to stop at Willy's. The place is small but a hidden gem. I was able to be seated quickly. The staff were pleasant and you could tell they had been working there for a long time. I will say this much the food was so good! I caught the itis before I paid my bill. Ms. Kathy made my visit feel like I was sitting with my grandma. My only reason for 4 stars is that I saw an unpleasant exchange between a host and a cook. The host lied to Ms. Kathy stating the cook made her drop a customer order. She then came to the counter and vented with seemed like family members. Totally not cool because she was throwing stuff at the cook between orders. Food wise I would come back but the host need to be more professional. read more

My second visit to this little hole in the wall (which automatically means it's glorious), Willy's is wonderful. The size of the menu means this farm to table joint is serious about options. You won't leave hungry or dissatisfied especially if you visit for breakfast. I tried the number one - Spring Chicken - which for me was scrambled eggs, 2 sausage patties, multigrain toast and grits. Every bite was outstanding and the service was friendly, quick and frequent. Seating can get tight for large groups but there's a big counter to accommodate singles and doubles. read more

At work I kept hearing the name Willy's for over an hour. I went to Yelp immediately to see the reviews. It had great reviews so when I was asked if I wanted anything I jumped to it. I'm so glad that I did and that my company was paying (made it even better). I ordered the crab cake which was a nice size with no filler it was delicious.
