I did a catering order for the 4th of July!!!!! and all the food was good we will definitely order again from Wilma's

This is some finger lickin' good BBQ here! It's been awhile since I had some decent BBQ so this place stopping by was a good chance to celebrate good tidings. Staff was friendly and helpful, promptly getting me what I ordered. The portions were filling for $9. I got two pork links, rib tips, two slices of bread and some "ism" vegan (the irony!) cheesecake. My hat goes off to whoever makes that cheesecake because that was the best cheesecake I've had in years. You couldn't even tell it was vegan. It was nice and sweet as well! The BBQ looked good and tasted great. Wilma's opts for more of a glaze type of BBQ sauce (kind like the sauce you get on Korean BBQ.) While not better than something like sweet baby ray's, it was superb nonethless. You can tell whoever does the recipes for Wilma's has a major sweet tooth as there is a strong, distinct sugariness to the sauce which coincided with the cheesecake's sweetness. The meat was cooked well, my only gripe being the rib tips seemed to be mostly fat and bones! My husband and I seen this restaurant on a content creator instagram post and decided to visit on 2/14/24 . My first impression when we went in was nice and clean. I order a cat fish dinner and my husband ordered their famous turkey tips. We were so disappointed when we got home! My fish was fishy and his tips were old and dried out! The other thing that was bothering me was the fact that I had to pay for their bbq because I wanted it on the side to go with my fish. The girl at the register mentioned that they don't offer sauce on any fried items. I thought that to be crazy because I couldn't even get hot sauce. By the way my husband tips were dried completely out with just a drizzle of sauce on it. I will NEVER go to this restaurant again. I have a very strong pallet for taste and smell so I know when something is off especially food! FYI these content creators need to be totally honest when visiting these food places because a regular person like me gets disappointed every time. Where's the love ? So far just waiting to see what the buzz is about here in Dolton. Caught the smell of bbq as I was passing and when I returned back to the restaurant it had quite of fresh people going in it. So went grab a menu and order 2 large turkey tips and a small turkey link. I was told 15-30 minutes which isn't bad. So I will return with the verdict people. So my rate is solely base on smell and appearances. It's a small clean space. read more

Today I purchased 2large tips and 1 large catfish totaling 64 dollars. The ribs were tough and cut in big chunks and bones. Very poor quality. It's seems like they are trying to save on the tips because it was so little in the large suppose to be order. The fries and catfish was so greasy. They did not drain it before preparing it to there customer. The last 2 times I've been here were Terrible but I thought I would give them another try today. Not ever again. I was here on 01/21/23 I ordered a bucket of ribs 2 large fries and 1 small link all extra sauce that the cashier was so Nicely to let me know was $1.00 each. After waiting 32 min for my food I got home to no sauce on my fries the 2 large orders that ate really 2 small orders and very little to no sauce at all on the link dinner. I went to Wilma's for the first time yesterday 12-29-23. I order a slab of ribs, a large tip and 2 hot links online. The order should've been ready between 335-340pm. I walk into Wilma's at 405pm. The young girl behind the counter told me I have to wait 5 more minutes for the links. So I sit and wait another 45 minutes, only for the young girl to tell me they don't have any more ribs. By this time, its 5pm. I asked for a full refund. The young girl chose to give me a partial refund and dropped the remainder of my order in front of me and walked off. By that time she was off work for the day. This is a horrible first impression. That young girl was very rude and unprofessional and she is the reason why Wilma's will never see a dime of my money again. I've been coming here for a few years now they have great chicken wings, and there Barbecue chicken is tasty too and the Barbecue tips are full meaty and they give good portions for the price point. The only thing is you should call your order in ahead of time especially on Fridays and Saturdays because there always bussing. read more

I got there at about 6:30 pm it was like 5 people ahead of me the line was moving pretty quickly cause they ain't have shit . Called here to place an order for a small pan of rib tips along with several other things. However, the person who answered the phone was very rude. I was told that they wouldn't be able to accommodate my order. I then asked her the price for three large tips. She told me the price and told me that it would be ready within an hour. To gain further understanding, I asked if I ordered the small pan of rib tips could it also be accommodated within the hour seeing as though it would be about the same amount of food. I was put on hold while she checked to see if my order could be accommodated. When the call resumed, I overheard her telling her coworker or boss, "I told her but she wasn't listening". I found this to be very rude and disrespectful. This was in bad taste and exhibited poor customer service. Well...my grandmother always said if you can't smell the smoke from a bbq place then it's not good. I didn't smell any smoke until I stepped inside the establishment. I ordered a large tip mix sauce.
