Great pizza joint that ALWAYS has a steady stream of clientele. The Palace was converted from a McD's to Wilson's ...and they cleverly spun the decorative "M's" ti "W's". Nice recycling! The food is addictive. The Greek salad is big enough to split by at least 3-4 people. The pizza is amazing. Seriously. The crust is even delicious. They even offer eggplant and basil, among other ingredients. A medium serves at least 3-4 hungry folk. No actual designated access parking, but plenty of parking is available, with zero point access to building. Interior access, including toilet room access, is spot on - love this place!!! read more

I don't think there is a better pie out there. I grew up in Brooklyn and thought I knew my pizza until I came to Hartford on business and my host took me out to lunch there. I didn't even want to try pizza, so I ordered a roast beef sub, which may have been the best sub I ever had. So on my next trip to Hartford, I had to go back and try the pizza (just a simple pepperoni and sausage) and it was amazing. I think this a family business but this place could open at more locations and do some good business. There are a lot of places I've visited on the east coast where the pizza pickens is a little slim. You won't go here for the decor, but it's good eatin'. read more

A part of me feels like his pizza is very overrated . I try to give them multiple shots at impressing me but I'm never wowed . Pizza is decent (sometimes a little more crispier than desired) . NEVER AGAIN!!! DONT DO IT!! THEY ARE DIRTY!! I experienced clear racial profiling from the manager/owners son. I have gone to this place for years, grew up in Windsor but tonight I came with my husband and nieces/nephew and we got a large pepperoni pizza. For starters there were little black things in our cup and brown smudged spots on some of plate that I just prayed was just chocolate. There was stuff all over the floor and seats including hair strands. Nevertheless we didn't even complain just asked for new plates and cups. Then, with about a quarter of the pizza left my niece points out that there is a piece of hair under the pizza when she lifts it up a slice. My husband and I looked and sure enough there was a long black straight piece of hair. Coincidentally my family and I are black with black hair but our hair is short and curly. When I nicely brought it to the workers attention. He proceeds to YELL that "it's not our fault, you placed it there, you put your fake hair on it (none of us have fake hair), of course you bring it up with only a few slices left, etc" I of course was offended because I gave them my service for years and never experience this and clearly because we were black with black hair he assumed I did that. I get my husband and he continues to legitimately yell at us and said he was calling the police on us and that he would make us a small pizza but we would have to get out of the restaurant and WAIT OUTSIDE for it with the children in the 15 degree weather... we did not go outside nor did we even want the free pizza after that. They said it was none of their hairs but as filthy as that place was it got in there somehow and I should not have been insulted the way I was tonight for something he assumed I did. First Post, I am being pro-active against the saying that people are more likely to post a bad review than a good one and giving some of my favorite establishments a nod. Grew up in Windsor since the age of 5, my grandfather and father before me swear by this place, and so do I. I am what you would call, a human ninja turtle. My favorite food is pizza, I can polish off a large pie from anywhere I have been single-handedly. It's freakish, I only weigh about 170. I eat Pizza EVERYWHERE I go, I have been to Italy, Greece, Chicago, all the boroughs of New York. The only pizzas to rival Wilson for me were Lou Malnati's in Chicago, the ORIGINAL Frank Pepe in New Haven (The expansions are lackluster), and a spot that had no name I could see in Rome (It was close to the Vatican). I would call it an even tie between Frank Pepe's since if you aren't a fan of thin NY style pizza Pepe won't be amazing for you. Me, personally, I love ALL pizza. To anyone who complains about the health factor of a pizza, seriously? If you are such a carb counter then a place called "Wilson Pizza Palace" should be off of your radar. The pies are bursting with flavor, and they are very generous with toppings. Their grinders are enormous and best if eaten on the spot. Their other food I have not explored, the Pizza / Grinders are just too darn good. But some friends tell me everything they make is good. I know the family that owns the place, they are good people and keep everything very fresh and very clean. Arguably some of the best Pizza in the state of CT. Some will like Pepe's in New Haven, various places (Maple, etc.) in Hartford, and there are favorites in other cities but for most in Hartford's North End, Windsor, Wilson, and Bloomfield, Wilson was the premier Pizza Place. Some may not like the sauce or the cheese or the grease but Pizza is supposed to be GREASY!!! One of the top 3 Pizza places I've frequented (along with Yogi's Grinders and Pizza on Barbour Street in Hartford, R.I.P. Yogi. and Roma Pizza on Burnside Avenue in East Hartford) during my time living in CT. read more

From the outside this hardly looks like a palace but the pizza was great...surprisingly so. The regular pizza has a Sicilian crust which is house-made. We had sausage, pepperoni, onions and extra cheese. It was done perfectly with crisp bottom crust. Worth the ten minute diversion from I-91. Wouldn't have found it without Yelp! read more

I've going to Wilson Pizza for close to 50 years. It is still one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I've traveled with the military for 30 years and don't live in the area any longer, but they are my first stop whenever I get in town. I grew up going to Wilson's. Over time the quality of food and service has decreased significantly. My grandmother, mom and I sat down to eat a small cheese, steak grinder, french fries and wings. My mom went to the bathroom and noticed that it was not clean and very untidy. When our food was ready, my mom asked for a flimsy big paper plate so she did not have to eat all her food on a small paper plate that they had given. The guy at the front told her that she could not have a larger PAPER PLATE (mind you the plate that was given to her couldn't even fit a slice of pizza securely on the plate) My mom was very disappointed that they would not give her a paper plate to comfortably eat her dinner that she graciously paid for. Back in the day, this would of never happened. What ever happened to that nice lady that would take your order? They also do not take credit cards, only cash....I think it is time to find another establishment that caters to its customers and gives them a large paper plate to eat their food.
