Charming Spot with a Cozy Vibe Wimberley Café is a charming little spot that was packed when we arrived--which usually tells you it's a good place! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was friendly. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and absolutely loved them. I went with the French toast, which was just okay--nothing special, but not bad either. Overall, it's a cute, busy café with a hometown feel. We went for brunch on a Sunday. It was busy. We waited around 30 minutes to be seated. We sat outside because I had my dog. They do have inside and outside seating. The outside seating has a covered patio. They will text you when your table is ready, so you can walk around and explore the shops. Parking is very limited. There's parking in front of the restaurant, but very few spots. You can find parking on the side streets. I ordered the breakfast plate with two eggs, a biscuit and hashbrowns. I also ordered one blueberry pancake. It was so fluffy. Everything was delicious. No complaints here. I took home a slice other Keylime pie. Our server was Nolan G & he was great, really friendly & attentive. We both ordered the liver & onions which came with/ gr beans & garlic mash potatoes. Hubby swapped the gr beans for balsamic Brussels. Those sprouts were slightly undercooked for him. Shredding them w/the balsamic might work better & I might try that when we return home! The Liver & onions were perfection! The garlic mash was just okay. I was disappointed that apart from a tuna melt/salad there was no fish on the menu at all. It seems they only serve that on Fridays. We've been to this cafe many times over the years whenever we are staying in the area as we just love the feel of the place, whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner, it just exudes friendliness! read more

This place is super cute and seems like the go to breakfast spot. It's giving grandmas kitchen vibes. Friendly staff bustling restaurant with indoor and out door seating right in the square. We had an omelette French toast bacon and fruit with coffee. The water tasted a little funny so I got some lemons to fix it up. We have loved this place for years. We live in Austin so whenever we have a staycation or are in the area it's one of our go to spots. One of my favorite things was the menu prices, so sad to see them going up, but what's not these days. The servers and staff are all so sweet though it's hard not to love it. $10 for an Electric Jellyfish, I can get that cheaper in some spots in Austin. Cest la vie read more

We've passed by the Wimberly Cafe multiple times but there was always a long wait. We stopped by on a Saturday just after 12pm and managed to snag 2 seats at the bar. There is a little tic-tac-toe game to play while you are waiting for your food. We got the Santa Fe Tuna Melt and the Rueben Sandwich. Both were melty and cheesy and the bread was very soft. For my first visit to Wimberley, I thought it was fitting to have lunch at Wimberley Café! Although many people were in town visiting from other cities (tourists like myself), this restaurant had a hominess to it and made me love the quaintness. The regulars of the restaurant even have a wall with their designated mugs that they can grab when they come in - so cute! On to the real details... the food! Here's what we ordered and my thoughts: - Fried pickles: Arrived piping hot and were served with two small ranches which was perfect. They were a bit on the thinner side than I typically like but good nonetheless. - Mushroom swiss burger: The patty was similar to a Freddy's steak burger (smashed style) and was covered with mushrooms and cheese. Overall, it hit the spot and was absolutely delicious! - Fries: Not much to say... fries are always a win - Rio Chicken Salad: My friend ordered this so I just took a bite to try. The chicken was well seasoned and super tender which was nice. Unfortunately, I didn't love the dressing that came on this salad... not something I would reorder (nor would my friend) As for the staff/ service.... AMAZING! I really wish I could write the woman's name who helped us today. She was such a hard worker, hustled to help all the tables she was waiting on and was incredibly friendly. THANK YOU JAY! your dedication is very much appreciated. met family for dinner here, party of 5. lunch specials available til they run out, so possibly avail for dinner. we went on friday, so they had shrimp (5pc), catfish $13 each or combo (2 catfish & 3 shrimp) all $15. all came with coleslaw and fries NO sub. i asked about the catfish - im picky - waiter who was pretty "abrupt", said he didnt like fish, so not the person to ask. hubbie ordered combo, i ordered shrimp and asked hubbie to add a piece of catfish to his plate for me to try ($1.50). MIL ordered a burger, SIL had catfish and BIL got chicken and waffles. i added salt & pepper brussel sprouts since i wanted neither side my plate came with. MIL enjoyed her burger, SIL said she liked the catfish - i did not care for it. in my experience if the catfish is rounded - looks like a chicken tender - the "mudline" is left on. their catfish fell into that category. i prefer flat fillets - usually dont have that problem. i also didnt really care for the shrimp. it was tough - if shrimp can be tough, and the clunky breading fell off. BIL cut into his chicken & waffles to find he had a chicken fried STEAK instead of chicken on his waffles. when asked, the waiter said that was the way they made it. brussel sprouts were pretty good, but cut large & still pretty crunchy at the centers. overall, nothing outstanding, all just passable except for maybe the burger. waiter asked about "chicken" and waffles again when he brought the tab. when we verified it was steak - he said thats on the kitchen. no apology, no offer to take it off the bill or get the manager. with so many places to eat in wimberly, this experience does not have me wanting to rush back to wimberly cafe. but maybe we caught them on an off night as reviews on yelp are mostly positive. read more

The restaurant was spacious and had lots of seats. The hostess was rather not the friendliest, but that's okay because everyone else was awesome. We got 2 pancakes and bacon on one plate, and then 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrown, biscuit. Pancakes were really not good, they had a plastic taste. Pretty crowded for lunch and parking is pretty limited so be prepared. Not a good place for parking if you are in a large vehicle. Ordered the grilled chicken with green beans and sweet potato fries. Arrived about 12:20 pm. Seated quickly and my drink and entree order was taken quickly. My lunch took a few minutes to arrive. Metal utensils, ceramic plates and real utensils. Inside decor is kind of country kitchen. My chicken was very good as were the beans and sweet potato fries. All tasted home cooked and fresh. Cleaned my plate! I would come here again. read more

Wanted to try this place out on a Sunday - not a bad idea because it's really busy in this area on the weekends especially on Market days. Anyhow, you walk up to the hostess to check-in and they take down your phone number to text you. We got to sit down within 15-20 mins. Not bad of a wait. They have both outside and indoor sitting. Very spacious. One thing I do like about this restaurant is that they have a menu serving variety of dishes. Vegetarian? No problem, they have a section dedicated to the vegetarians out there. They have everything from soups, salads, burgers, chicken & waffles. And much more. So why a 4/5 rating? Although I loved the ambience and variety of items to order from. There was a few things that lowered my review. We wanted to order the fried mac n cheese, but they didn't have it. I also overheard someone ordering a meatloaf, and they had to be told that there wasn't anymore available for the day. I came here specifically try the "Sweet Hot Mess", the local favorite. And it was just ok to me, it didn't knock my socks off, the jalapeno sauce was good and it is messy to eat, but other than that it just tastes like a normal burger with a little spice. The Chicken & Waffle are average too, I've tasted Thai dish all over the states, and the waffle is just a little too thick and chicken was a little dry. Not a bad place to go for brunch. Sherie Lee at the bar is a sweetheart, I don't come here often, but when I do, I like to come here for food and the service, I ordered really reluctantly liver and onions because not everybody knows how to make it. Sherie informed me that that dish is an award-winning dish here in Hayes County I had to try...OMG! This Liver and onion it's outstanding!! is better than my mom's! The wife and I stopped in the quaint little cafe in Wimberley on New Years Eve afternoon. The place was only about 1/2 full and would probably have been full based on the crowd walking around outside but the time was odd. The waitstaff and greeter could not have been nicer and attentive. The food we chose was ok. I had a cheeseburger with homemade chips and it was pretty good (about a 3 1/2 based on my experience with good burgers) and my wife had a grilled chicken plate. She gave it a 2 (hence the 3 overall score) because it was just a plain piece of pressed flat chicken. Not very tasty and a bit cold. Her sides were fine though. I assume this place got real busy later that evening and maybe they brought out the good chicken. It's been around a while. read more

A local favorite! My boyfriend and I came here after a recommendation from a local shop owner - so glad we came here! It was such a quaint, local spot - perfectly captured the charm of Wimberley. The staff were so friendly and gave so many good food recs. We started with the fried pickles - the portion size was HUGE! But the pickles were well fried, perfect tangy flavor! I got the veggie platter. The balsamic sprouts were crispy and flavorful. The sweet potato fries were tender and hearty. The green beans were soft and delicious. Also a very large portion size. Be prepared for crowds on a Saturday, especially, with nice weather. Our table of four was on a twenty minute wait time. They did get full for breakfast and didn't allow any more guests until the lunch seating. It's a well-oiled machine. Our server took great care of us. Food was delicious! I ordered a little of everything rather than an entree. I ordered a biscuit with sausage gravy, one slice of French toast, and a cup of grits. My stomach was full, and my heart was happy! read more

Couple of breakfasts here during covid; couple of beers visiting with friends in the evening before. This review is gonna concentrate on breakfast offerings. Start with lovely outdoor dining when the weather allows. First breakfast visit I ordered the Tejas omelette. Green chilis with avocado, sour cream (in a packet), salsa, and cheddar. Eggs were nicely cooked; could have used onions. Bacon was not cooked to my requested doneness. Next visit pork chop and eggs. Yard bird turds again cooked nicely. Chops although super thin had great flavor. Soy sauce an ingredient in the marinade? Gravy for my biscuit ordered w/wthout sausage showed similar consistency. Three stars and here's why: Hash browns looking at all the pictures including my own are extremely inconsistent. Biscuits are the made in a factory variety. Yet, I'd give more stars for service over the last few visits if the food matched. read more

Every time we come to Wimberley, this is our go to place for lunch and dinner. Tonight we had turkey/avocado sandwich, chips and pickles, plus a bacon cheeseburger with chips. The turkey avocado didn't have much flavor but the chips were warm and excellent with the pickles. Our waitress was the sweetest and always gave the nicest staff! It's no surprise that this has been the classic go-to spot since its opening in 2005. When I came here 10 years ago, it was awesome. Back in 2024 and it's even more awesome. I took my girlfriend here and she tried her first ever chicken fried steak, and she loved it! I'm glad this was her first experience. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was immaculate. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts appetizer! RIDICULOUSLY GOOD! I'm not a dessert guy, but the waitress convinced me and we got pie. Amazing way to finish the meal. Delicious food, great service, and a good price! They even have mimosas!!!! So, it's comfort cooking, it's hashbrowns, eggs, biscuits and gravy goodness! Our food took a while because they had an issue with their gas stove and the propane guy had to come out, but they were very transparent and that made us more understanding. It's dog friendly patio and it's covered with heaters and fans! Perfect for any weather! While out traveling the highways and byways of San Antonio today, work spontaneously brought me out to the quaint little town of Wimberley Texas. My stomach was growling, and I had a few minutes to spare, so I whipped the ole jalopy into the parking lot and strolled on in. I walked along the patio and initially walked into the wrong door. Ooooops. I exited the adjoining coffee shop, walked around, and found the entrance. I opened the door, and saw my esteemed colleague at the bar, so I walked over and bellied up to the bar. A friendly lady behind the bar handed me a menu and asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered my drink and perused the menu. Lots of great breakfast items on the menu. Pressed for time, I ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon. This plate comes with hash browns and toast, so you get a little of everything. For the price, it was a deal, and just what I needed. My colleague ordered the same thing, but with chocolate chip pancakes. In good time, the food came and my colleague and I got right to it. Having to keep an eye on the clock, I scarfed my meal down. I don't remember tasting most of it (ha! just kidding). Overall, the meal, the service, the price, and environment was perfect. I do plan on a return visit with the wife, as I know she would love this place. I highly recommend this trendy little nook of a cafe. I will definitely be back. This was our first time at the Cafe. We've always driven by it but this time we actually stopped to have lunch! The place itself has ample seating but good luck trying to find parking. There are a bunch if little lots surrounding the shops nearby, but if you can't find parking, you are better off parking in the neighborhood streets. The restaurant has a great system. They post next seating times when you go to check in so that way its not a guessing game! They also take your number to text you so you can leave and come back when your table is ready. Thats so convenient! When we got seated, we sat inside and you'll see a big diner. It was awesome to see the regular's coffee cups hanging on the wall. The food was def amazing The sweet potato tots were sweet and crunchy, the hot mess burger was definitely messy, but the ingredients mesh well together. The chicken and waffles were a bit on the dry side and yes it was a filling portion (good enough for 2 people). Syrup really helped it go a long way. Overall, loved the place. Customer service was top notch (friendly staff). I would go back to try more food items and see what it takes to get a coffee mug on the wall of fame! Great food stop when in town! read more

WOW! If I could leave those 3 letters as my whole review, I would! We were in town on a recent visit & we're totally impressed with this tiny cafe! Though the seating time quoted was about 20 min inside, we were quickly seated on the patio, which was warm and cozy even with wind! The brunch was amazing from the mimosas to coffee to meals. If you're looking for full breakfast cocktails, keep walking. But the do have mimosas!! The Huevos Rancheros were so tasty! From the salsa to the main dish, this was good.
