We decided to start our day early by visiting the town square and grabbing breakfast, and Wimberley Cafe was exactly what you'd hope for in a small-town diner--classic, comforting, and full of local character. I ordered the Tuesday special: pancakes with two eggs cooked over easy, plus a side of sourdough toast. My wife went with the biscuits and gravy. When my plate arrived, one of the egg yolks was already broken--not ideal--but I wasn't about to let that ruin breakfast. After all, I was planning to break them anyway. The toast was clearly meant for yolk-dipping (something I've done since I was a kid), though it arrived unbuttered, which slowed things down a bit. And with pancakes this large, I had to unwrap several pats of butter to get them properly dressed. That said, the pancakes were the real winner--fluffy, delicious, and generously sized. Bonus points for serving them with warmed maple syrup, which always makes a difference. My wife wasn't as happy with her biscuits and gravy and wished she had chosen something with more protein. I'm not usually a biscuit person either, which is why I tend to avoid them--but I always give them a fair try. The biscuits weren't my thing, but the gravy was quite good, with a subtle hint of heat that added some personality. Service was a mixed bag. Our waitress wasn't particularly friendly. I understand it was early, but service does matter. I generally start at a 20% tip and adjust up or down depending on the experience. This landed somewhere between 15% and 20%, which felt fair. Overall, the cafe was nicely decorated for Christmas and had a warm, nostalgic diner vibe. If we find ourselves back in Wimberley with breakfast on the agenda, this is a place I'd gladly consider again.

All the food that came out was overly salted. Service was friendly but the food was just really so-so. Nice indoor and outdoor seating area.

We stopped by on a Friday morning and arrived about 20 minutes too early for lunch. The staff was friendly, and we were seated promptly. My husband ordered migas, while I opted for a one-egg plate with bacon and a biscuit. The food was decent, though it could have used a little less salt. Overall, it was a quick and acceptable meal--typical diner fare. However, I found the price of a cup of black coffee to be excessive at $3.75. We might consider returning to try the lunch options, but we won't be back for breakfast.

Looking for pet-friendly places in the town area isn't too hard but we were recommended this place as a must go! We started off with the fried pickles which were a bit salty but the portion was very generous. We also had a pancake with some coffee and oddly the pancake was also a bit salty but in a good way? The syrup helped balance it out. The food on the other hand! I wish I could experience that burger again! The fries were a bit over salted as well but it all balanced out nicely. For the chicken avocado melt our server recommend we upgrade to the sourdough bread and she was on to something with that! Super delish although there could've been a bit more pesto. Our server was the sweetest! I love how she made every experience personal and it seemed like a lot of people love her! We went on a Tuesday at around noon and it was pretty busy, the environment fit the town square vibe so well!

We've tried to eat here many times but it's always been so packed that we couldn't even find parking most times. Decided we would try after our latest visit to Blue Hole Regional Park. In fact that was our plan for the day, swimming and brunch here. Since it's Juneteenth we figured they'd be busy but we were hopeful. We got in just at the right time, a few minutes before breakfast was ending and lunch was starting. When we arrived it was jammed with folks already seated and eating. However, we waited maybe three minutes to get a table. The host staff were on it! Efficient and friendly. Before I go on, I have to mention that our swim day was cut short because I got attacked by fire ants (for the second time in my life, the first was years ago in Houston when I unknowingly stepped on a mound). Today, however, I had my flip-flops and beach pants on the ground next to our towels and blankets. Put my shoes on to go to the water and my feet were attacked and on fire!! I was like "oh no...we gotta go"! I proceeded to put my pants on and my thighs were attacked. We quickly packed up and headed out, discarding the pants along the way (properly, in a trash bin). Luckily I had a ginormous tee-shirt with me to throw over my suit. I was determined not to miss out on the opportunity to eat here. It's a summer/water town so my attire was perfectly acceptable. I ramble about all of this because I mentioned what happened to a member of the host staff and she was so sympathetic and really felt badly for me. She advised that rubbing alcohol was the best thing to rid the sting of the bites. A few minutes after we were seated, she comes to our table with packaged alcohol wipes! What an endearing gesture (especially considering once seated the line to get in escalated and was out into the parking lot). I quickly ran to the bathroom and rubbed myself down. The pain was gone within minutes. She went above and beyond for me! What absolutely amazing service. It didn't just stop there. Our server was the nicest, most genuine person with an amazing smile and kindness. Her attentiveness was impeccable. This is the kind of service you expect from a down home, small town country restaurant. Not from a high-volume place like this. But it was truly down home service. The restaurant is super cute too. Absolute country kitchen decor with a modern twist. The special was King Ranch Chicken which is so rare to find at restaurants anymore. My boyfriend was elated! Like a kid in the King Ranch Chicken store. He considers himself to be a King Ranch Chicken connoisseur. He knows his stuff. He said it was near-perfect and one of the most delicious versions he's ever had. If he had to critique it at all, he said it could have used a little more cheese because there's no such thing as too much when it comes to cheese. I had the garden veggie omelet with hash browns and an English muffin. The omelet was stuffed with roasted veg boasting with freshness, topped with melted cheddar. That omelet would have made Julia Child swoon! Our expectations were exceeded tenfold and can't wait to get back again.

Wimberley Cafe is a cute spot for classic American food! There were several things I wanted to try on the menu, but I settled on the chef salad for lunch because I knew I'd be getting treats throughout the day. As far as salads go, it was delicious! My husband got the chopped steak, which he enjoyed. He made a special request to substitute chicken salad for his side. After the staff said that was too much of a stretch, the owner came over and said she heard the conversation, and "why not?" We got exactly what we wanted, in the end. I love this kind of service!

    Chicken and waffles

We stopped by Wimberley Cafe and ordered the chicken and waffles with sweet potato fries and the burger with an egg -- every single bite was delicious! The chicken was perfectly crispy, the waffles were fluffy, and the burger was cooked just right. They offer inside (diner dinning) or outdoor dinning which is nice during these cooler days. But What truly stood out, though, was the staff. They were incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Can't wait to come back!

Picturesque! Cheers from Tuscany !…read more Bravo! This restaurant was well worth the drive. Trattoria felt like an escape to Tuscany. The outside and inside is a knod to Tuscany. I enjoyed my time here. Don't forget to get some gelato on your way out. The service was spectacular and the waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu . Now, let's get into what I ate. Appetizers: Bread- I'm not sure what the proper name for the bread is, but it was so good. The bread was like a warm hug. It had a welcoming taste. I can't even explain it fully. The texture was phenomenal. It was like a cornbread and a roll put together. Artichoke fritters- This dish surprised me. I didn't expect to like it so much. It was fried to perfection and flavorful. I honestly didn't need the sauce . Meatballs- The meatballs were the best I've had in my life. They were covered in a well prepared sauce. Entrée: Snapper with pesto pasta- My snapper was very flavorful. The only downfall of the snapper was the size. For the price, I expected a whole snapper. The pasta was good, but I'm not a huge fan of pasta. I also ordered brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were cooked very well. Dessert: Biscoff and almond gelato - This was a perfect ending to to a wonderful meal. The gelato flavors change often. I will definitely go again!

I'm awarding 5 stars for our two recent visits. But, there's a point I'd like to make. Yes, this is…read morea dining destination and prices are commensurate with the experience. For most pasta dishes, I'd hit Mandola's in Austin. Save about $10 an entree and some gas money. A few weeks ago I didn't want to venture too far off the ranch. Wife and I ended up at Lisina on Saturday. Calamari to start was crisp and not chewy. Caesar salad followed and was a nice example of the dish. Lisina is also a little skimpy on offering bread refills. We finished with drinks and the panna cotta. Just over $100 for this experience. WELL, the next day I needed to take mom out for her anniversary. Dad has long passed but I always try to do something special. Sunday highlights forthcoming. This time with mom and Rooster along we started with the carpaccio. The presentation really wowed because it looks like red plate until you realize all that color is shaved tenderloin. White plate underneath! The greens, parmesan, and aioli was one of the best I've had. Mom went for the gnocchi; Rooster goes for the Mezzaluna ravioli. This is now Rooster's fave restaurant. I went back to the appetizers section and selected the crab cake. Zero complaints on these dishes. Don't forget mom's wine. Gelato and cake to finish the meal. I think I've dined here once since my 2009 review. Yup, steak pics still accounted for on Yelp. Trattoria Lisina is still going strong in Driftwood. Expect $$$$, this meal was almost $300. Good food ain't cheap folks.
