Just keep walking! We had some friends come in from Mississippi so we took them to Jacob's Well and a little shopping around Wimberley. As we were talking to local shop owners one recommend the Wimberley Cafe. We were looking forward to the cooking of a small town cafe!!! What. A. Disappointment. The party melt was all the rave so 2 of the party ordered that along with fries and a sweet hot mess. The kids ordered burgers, man n cheese, and a hotdog and I had potatoe soup. The Patty Melts- #1 The grease from the patty made one of the pieces of bread so soggy you couldn't hold it and the patty had no taste. #2 Where a normal patty melt is held together by the cheese this one fell apart, it could have been it was a greasy mess also! For the entire partybthe fries were your basic Sysco fries but were cooked very well. The Potato Soup- The soup was so thin you could hardly see it on your spoon. I was excited to have 3 small chunks of potatoes in the soup‍ Sweet Hot Mess- the reason on 2 stars not 1. The jalapeño cream was good and have the burger a great taste. The burger was cooked just right the bun was toasted just right. The hotdog made my kid sick so she spent a lot of time in the porta potty outside the restaurant. Came here for lunch with high expectations, and was thoroughly disappointed! I decided on a Reuben sandwich with the chips, my wife had a grilled chicken sandwich and the kids had burgers. We also had cheese sticks as an appetizer. They brought out the cheese sticks and dropped them off at the wrong table. When we finally got them they were just ok. The Mariana was cold, however it had good flavor. My Reuben came out and looked like grilled toast with a small amount of thousand island dressing. I opened the sandwich and lo and behold I was right 2 small thin slices of corned beef a smattering of sauerkraut . I brought it up to the waiter and he said they pre measure the meat for the sandwiches. He did offer to bring more out, which ended up being 2 more small slices. The kids both liked the burgers said they were average at best. My wife's chicken sandwich was also just average. With so many other places to try we will not be going back. read more

We went here for breakfast the weekend before last. We were in town for our daughter's last ever Family Weekend for college. Wimberley was exceptionally busy, not really sure why. We were seated right away at the front patio. Our server delivered our drinks (coffee, water and orange juice) quickly. She oddly never refilled our coffee but filled some of our waters. Breakfast came out at a reasonable time. We all had various eggs, omelettes and pancakes. My eggs were runny and inedible. I had a side of pancakes which were not done in the middle. The biggest disappointment were the hash browns. It looked like they scraped whatever was left over from a batch and put it on our plates. They were oily, bland with no crisp and some charred parts. My husband said his breakfast was mediocre. Everyone else had no complaints. The place was packed probably because it was one of few places open before 11a (were there at 9a). Overall, food was meh and service could be stepped up a bit. Our server was very nice, but we never had the opportunity to ask for refills and she never offered it. read more

The dining room, and indeed the entire town square are a little piece of Americana, harkening back to simpler times when the person dining next to you was likely someone you knew. That's obviously not the case anymore, but the folks here sure make you feel welcome and at home. Pancakes are perfect pieces of fluff; biscuits have the spot on balance of flake and moisture, made all the better with scratch cream gravy; and the bacon and sausage are exactly as you'd expect from a country kitchen. You won't be making the trip to Wimberley just to visit this place -- there are a myriad other and better reasons for that -- but when you do, you'll know that you'll be eating good first thing the morning. read more

We came here for an early dinner and the host got us seated quickly at a table that accommodated our strollers and he also got us high chairs, which was awesome. Everything was absolutely lovely, from the guy who sat us to our waiter, the guy who brought our food & our meal itself. Everyone was super warm and friendly, and the food was DELICIOUS. We arrived at approximately 11:30am on a Saturday and we're told there would be a 15 min wait. The outdoor seating area had plenty of heaters and we were allowed to wait there until our table was ready. 15 min later we got a table outside that was near heaters to ensure we were comfortable while we sat outside. Our server was friendly and checked in us often despite how busy the restaurant was. We ordered a mimosa carafe, which was a good ratio of champagne to orange juice. The fried okra tasted fresh and was well seasoned. We ordered a chopped steak, which was essentially a hamburger patty. Our only complaint is that we wish it would've been a little bigger. The meat, green beans, and garlic mashed potatoes that accompanied it were all fresh and well seasoned. We ordered a cup of chili to try it. Added onions, cheese, and jalapeño. This was perfect on a cold afternoon. We also ordered chicken and a single waffle. The waffles are thin, which was unexpected as the photos we had seen showed a thicker waffle. I was suspect of it being served with sweet potato fries but I was willing to give it a try. When the plate arrived it was a whole chicken breast on top of a bed of sweet potato fries with a waffle underneath. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was perfect! The sweet potato, waffle, chicken combination drizzled in syrup was awesome! Overall the experience was great! read more

When we arrived two different men wouldn't attend to us. A lady came by and apologized and sat us right away. The place is very nice and clean. My spouse ordered a country fried chicken plate that was very tasty. My grilled chicken was also very flavorful. My son ordered a turkey club sandwich that was just ok. My other son ordered a child's plate cheeseburger that wasn't good. We had one sweet tea and ordered a fantastic dessert of banana pudding. Let's start off with what was good. The okra and the Ruben sandwich my friend had. Other friends said sandwiches were good but how can you mess up a sandwich? The chili was basic. No beans in it.
