The prime rib is not bad,stay away from their scalloped potatoes , I swear they come out of a can! The night I was there I got a full glass of ice water spilled in my crotch by our wait person. Not sure what all the hype is about. I would consider this a mediocre at best seafood restaurant. I went with a group of people. We started off ordering a bunch of appetizers. The fried oysters were good but the stuffed mushrooms were drowning in butter and the steamers were sandier than the Cape's beaches. I ordered the fish and chips for my meal and they were nothing to write home about. I would rate them as average at best. The service was spotty at best. The food came out fairly quickly but it was hard to find the servers to get a refill on our beverages. I hope this was a fluke but I am not on the Cape very often so I do not think I will be back. read more

Have driven past this place many times and never been. Pictured a touristy, cheezy Cape place and was pleasantly surprised to find a warm and cozy tavern environment aka Dan'l Webster or the Wayside Inn in Chatham. Just had the lobster and crab chowder for lunch which was rich, creamy and with a nice dollop of sherry butter on top. Very good but not as good as Lindsey's in Wareham. Still, a nice comfy place for a Yankee/Cape Coddy meal with old colonial decor and roaring fireplaces. Service and cleanliness were both tres good. read more

Went here for a late night dinner in Cape Cod and was absolutely surprised and full! The staff was swift but nice, ambiance exactly what we'd hoped for as well as Family friendly! If you can't choose on Calamari, Clams, Muscles, Lobster, Crab or fish - order the Cioppino!! Had the seafood (lobster & crab) cakes with a decadent delicious sauce which was to die for!! You can get better food right on the water for the same prices and the service is always slow at Wimpy's. You can depend on that. We eat here because we live close by and my daughter enjoys fish and chips every once in a while but we wouldn't travel more than 10 miles to come eat here there's much better food and service elsewhere. read more

Wimpy's is a great "Go To" spot if you are in the Osterville/Centerville area of the Cape. The food used to be pretty unspectacular, but the chef has stepped up his/her game over the past couple of years. The swordfish is outstanding, as is the pecan encrusted haddock! We actually went 2 nights in a row this year, so that should tell you something. Also, don't miss the clam chowder. It is excellent. The lobster she-crab soup could be improved upon though. They have some good fresh microwaveable dinners in the $5-$10 range with great fresh seafood and steaks to take home and grill. My wife and two kids (2, 4) walked in Fri at 5p. The host walked up to us and immediately asked if we had a reservation. There were 4 tables seated, no one waiting and the entirety of the restaurant was completely empty. So, my wife and I looked at each other as if he was joking and replied, "no". He then said it would be better if we ate at the tavern restaurant in the front. Perplexed, we walked around to the front where we told the hostess there the other host sent us to eat here. She was also confused when I asked her if there was any particular reason we weren't allowed to eat in the other part of the restaurant. As she seated us, my wife and I at this point were very uncomfortable (and somewhat pissed) decided we weren't eating here tonight because we were clearly discriminated against in some way. As we walked back out of the restaurant, the same way we entered and right by the rude host, I stopped my family just before we walked out the door. I turned around and walked back to that host and politely asked why we weren't allowed to eat in that dining room. As if he was shocked someone would even question him, he fumbled over words of "oh, I'm sorry, uh, hmm, uh, I believe we have a lot of reservations, uh, maybe I could squeeze you in somewhere (mind you it's 5pm and at quick glance there are 4 tables of elderly people seated and a minimum of 40 empty tables throughout the restaurant.) I told him we don't want to eat here anymore and we're never coming back and that when you tell people they're not allowed to sit somewhere and offer no explanation as to why, it's just plain nasty. I still don't know why we weren't allowed to eat there on Friday. It doesn't really matter anymore. We have eaten here in the past, we will not be eating here in the future. Diners heed caution of the short old man with short white hair if you don't want to be hassled. read more

Wimpy's was great two months ago and we were so pleased that Wimpy's was "back". Last night, however, it disappointed us. Although our server was wonderful, the food had seemingly reverted to its prior bland state. Husband's Bloody Mary was thin, watered down, seemingly lacking in both vodka and bite- but, it may have been a different bartender. Our salads were crisp, but seemed a tad smaller with only two slices of cucumber and one- yes, one- small cherry tomato. The peppercorn dressing had nearly the same yummy taste, but was no longer thick and rich- instead thinner and runny. Husband's Chicken Marsala was blah, lacking in flavor requiring much added salt and pepper but the chicken pieces were plentiful and tender. My Baked Stuff Shrimp were large, plump, and tasty. The butternut squash was good and so were the red bliss mashed potatoes until I discovered a "crust" on the bottom, as if they had been left out and crusted over and served on the plate crust side down so I would not notice. Smart try on their part as had I noticed the old dried crust I would have sent them back. The new owners have definitely improved the food, but still have a way to go. We often long for the Wimpy's of 6, 7, 8, 9 years ago but those days are seemingly long gone. read more
