Quick remote work lunch and was told this was the best of the best for local seafood. I had to try the lobster sauce and fried platter. I seafood was actually really good, really fresh and really expensive. The lobster roll had so much meat I had to eat the meat just to be able to hold it as a sandwich. The friend shrimp was good but no seasoning in batter. The fish was extremely oily which made it seem slimy but I think it just wasn't drained out of oil long enough. It got all over the extremely basic fries and ruined that meal. I also had the steak tips which was a whiteish color almost like pork. The flavor was off too which was sad. 3pm mid week I would think the quality when not busy would be much better so I was definitely let down.

Spanky's Clam Shack was our one stop outside of Connecticut, and it was absolutely worth it! The hot lobster roll was ridiculously big and overflowing with fresh, delicious lobster. The atmosphere is hard to beat. Located right on the water, the views are fantastic--even from inside the restaurant. Between the waterfront scenery and the people-watching, there's never a dull moment. The table service was quick, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The lobster bisque was rich and delicious, and the crispy onion rings were the perfect finishing touch to an already incredible meal. Come hungry--you'll leave full and happy!

Three hours ago Spankys Clam Shack illegally turned away seating a training service animal, which is against the American Disability Act. The hostesses were rude, I tried to nicely explain that SDITS are covered under service animals according to the ADA, and would not listen. We literally walked right across the street to the Black Cat where we were serviced and even gave my trainee a water bowl! I have absolutely no respect for restaurants who don't understand Massachusetts law for service animals or understand that state law supersedes town ordinance. Will be reporting this restaurant and tbh they should be fined!! If the owner would like to educate themselves and their employees they should read this article about Massachusetts State Laws for Service Dogs and Service Dogs in Traininghttps://usaservicedogs.org/blog/massachusetts-service-dog-laws-complete-guide

My FAVORITE PLACE in this area!!! They serve simple, delicious, and amazing food! The soups & chowders are a perfect starter. Then I couldn't help but repeat the grilled fish with fresh vegetables and a baked potato. I could eat this everyday!!!

The food was very good and came out relatively quickly for a holiday weekend. Service was good and often checked up on by our server. I just missed the large outdoor seating and had to opt for inside dining which was okay.

Another year another banger! Every year I return to Spanky's to consume my annual Quahog. This year they outdid themselves. If the spankys quahog has no defenders it means I am dead.

Lunch with a view at Spanky's Clam Shack & Seaside Saloon! It was so good; I came back twice within a week! It was my first time in The Cape and everyone kept recommending Spanky's so I had to check them out. I ordered the lobster roll (hot) with fries Everything was fresh and hot. They are not skimp with the lobster, the chunks of lobster overflowed onto my plate. The second time was with my mom. I ordered the fish sandwich w/ fries and she ordered their baked stuffed shrimp. The seafood stuffing on the shrimp was a bit overcooked but my mom enjoyed her meal. She liked it so much, she ordered it for takeout. Service is great with a view of the harbor.

My husband and I went here when we were visiting Cape Cod for our honeymoon. It as one of the top few places I had wanted to eat at and I'm so glad that it lived up to all of my expectations. We had steamer clams and a bowl of seafood stew. It was awesome! The service was wonderful and since we came around 1 PM there wasn't too much noise and we were able to eat our lunch in peace. I would definitely recommend that anyone who loves seafood check out this place while you're visiting Cape Cod because it's definitely worth it!

Takeout section of the restaurant. Food was great and service was friendly and prompt.

I have heard (and read) great things about this restaurant, so was excited to check it out Sunday. We decided to have dinner here after walking around the love local festival in the park right nearby. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside at one of the tables against the side of the restaurant with a nice view of the water. Our server was great created us right away with menus and waters took our drink order and made recommendations on the food menu, which is quite extensive (large menu front and back). I decided to go with a local blueberry beer, which was really good. We both started with a small cup of the clam chowder, which was perfect size to have a good taste of it without being overwhelming. For a main course, I had the swordfish homard, which came with a rich creamy sauce with lobster on top. For sides, I had the baked potato and the green beans of which there were many and they were delicious. Overall, extremely happy with my meal and being able to still sit outside and enjoy it. We will be back to explore more of the menu!

Ask the Community - Spanky's Clam Shack

    Prices? On food?

Prices are competitive with other establishments. I highly recommend the lobster salad...enough for two!!

When is buck a shuck available?

The only "buck a shuck" of which I am aware is at Caroline's in Eastham. I believe that most restaurants on Cape Cod serve Wellfleet or Barnstable oysters. Delicious everywhere they're served but prices vary widely. Shop around!!!!!

Can we eat outdoors with our well behaved dog?

There were dogs outside when we were there and they were very well behaved!

How long is the wait for walk-ins?

We didn't have a wait, but we did have an earlier dinner around 4:30-5 pm. I would think anything later than that would be busy. I didn't see anyone waiting when we left this was a Friday night and still off season.

Do we need reservations or come and sit?

You might need to wait a bit but they always take walk-ins

This year we came back because of how outstanding last year was. I ordered the chili again, even though I knew it meant I probably wouldn't eat my whole meal. My friend ordered the fish and chips and upgraded to truffle fries. She said it was probably the best fish and chips she's had. Now... for my meal... I am not exaggerating... BEST meal I have EVER had. Ever. I had the cod. Baked. With pesto, and sun-dried tomatoes. Served with roasted potatoes and spinach. So flaky. So tender. Perfectly cooked. The flavor was something straight from heaven. Breaks my heart I'm not local. I'd eat this weekly. All of the staff is always so friendly. A gentleman also checked in... not sure if he's a manager or owner. This is a top notch place. I'll definitely be back.

The TV screens are perfectly placed, the bartenders are friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The pizza was excellent -- flavorful, hot, and done just right. We also tried the meatloaf, and it genuinely reminded us of our grandmother's from years ago -- comforting, hearty, and full of flavor. That's not something you find everywhere. Even in the middle of winter, the place had a warm, lively vibe. We ended up having a great conversation with someone we later found out was the owner -- just chatting about everyday life. That kind of genuine hospitality says a lot. Good food, great service, and an easygoing atmosphere. Thanks for a great experience -- we'll definitely be back!

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.
