Lunch with a view at Spanky's Clam Shack & Seaside Saloon! It was so good; I came back twice within a week! It was my first time in The Cape and everyone kept recommending Spanky's so I had to check them out. I ordered the lobster roll (hot) with fries Everything was fresh and hot. They are not skimp with the lobster, the chunks of lobster overflowed onto my plate. The second time was with my mom. I ordered the fish sandwich w/ fries and she ordered their baked stuffed shrimp. The seafood stuffing on the shrimp was a bit overcooked but my mom enjoyed her meal. She liked it so much, she ordered it for takeout. Service is great with a view of the harbor.

I have heard (and read) great things about this restaurant, so was excited to check it out Sunday. We decided to have dinner here after walking around the love local festival in the park right nearby. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside at one of the tables against the side of the restaurant with a nice view of the water. Our server was great created us right away with menus and waters took our drink order and made recommendations on the food menu, which is quite extensive (large menu front and back). I decided to go with a local blueberry beer, which was really good. We both started with a small cup of the clam chowder, which was perfect size to have a good taste of it without being overwhelming. For a main course, I had the swordfish homard, which came with a rich creamy sauce with lobster on top. For sides, I had the baked potato and the green beans of which there were many and they were delicious. Overall, extremely happy with my meal and being able to still sit outside and enjoy it. We will be back to explore more of the menu!

Came for dinner here and had some fresh seafood. Typical seafood joint and packed with tourist. The seafood is fresh and service is excellent. Is all of it great, most but some are just ok. I had a dozen oysters from Wellfleet which were excellent. Lobster roll was great and alot of lobsta meat. Ahi tuna was fresh but not alot of tuna. Prices are typical of New England, but if you want fresh seafood, it costs $$$. You can sit outside or inside, pretty simple place, its a clam shack!

Waiter was Adrian, very attentive and brought me a generous glass of red wine along with a Sangria for my wife. My wife had a lobster roll and I had broiled scallops with rice. Both were excellent as I helped myself to a taste of my wife's lobster roll...lol. We had a long day we went to Martha's Vineyard, Spanky's is located in the harbor near the Hi-Liner Ferry that took us to the Vineyard. I loved the scallops cooked perfect in a nice garlic sauce, served with rice pilaf and green beans. The only reason for the 4 star rating was it was a little $$$ 116 + 25(tip). I did have 2 glasses of wine and it is Hyannis Ma so maybe I'm use to hometown prices. We have spent a week in Hyannis, and I haven't had a bad meal yet. So far though Spanky's has the best seafood!!

The place has been around a while and recommend you sit outside or at the small bar (if adults only). Super friendly, chill bartenders. Loved our discussions. The food is as expected for this type of high-volume establishment yet fresh and reflective of local seafood availability. The servings are quite significant. I enjoyed the whole belly clam sandwich served in a way where you can hardly see the bread bc you are served quite a bit! My companion had the lobster roll and boy - we both enjoyed the lobster salad which was perfectly prepared. The spicy bloody Marys were perfect. Two observations - their indoor carpeting is extremely worn out and the inside dining room by the windows facing the dock had a lot of flies so we chose not to sit there. It's quite gross and made us wonder about their kitchen standards. We only stayed bc of the inviting, clean bar. I suggest they think about updating and more importantly- managing the flies. So a 3 rating given the issues of flies.

Amazing, fresh, delicious food! Our service was fabulous. Gina made sure our food was hot, our questions answered, & brought extra dip & warm rolls. We loved the food but would come back again because of the service.

Clam chowder-- one of the best I've ever tasted!

Stopped in for lunch. Great atmosphere, excellent service and excellent clam chowder and fried clam strips! All around superb.. only thing I would order again is the slap my clamshell cocktail! But it did intrigue the curiosity.

We were doing some brewery hopping but of course needed some food so we popped in to Spanky's. We were able to walk right in and get a seat at the bar. The stuffed quahog was delicious and we followed up with a bowl of seafood soup. The soup was chock full of loads of fish, shrimp, and lobster and was so tasty. Make sure to get a few rolls so none is left behind! Excellent service and a great location!

Lovely harbor side seafood spot with all the classics done right. On the pricey side but the portions are generous. The lobster Caesar salad was refreshing - basically a cold lobster roll on a bed of salad. The grilled salmon was a monster portion of salad. Fish and chips were golden fried and crispy. Service was fast despite being busy. Lovely spot for lunch by the water.

Spanky's is a nice seafood spot on the water. Decor and interior can be a bit grimy. However, they have solid fried platters that get the job done. Great clam chowder and strong drinks. A tad pricey but it's what you'd expect for seafood on the water. Got the bang bang shrimp it was tasty but simple. Hard to get something on the menu that is not fried. Another solid meal can't complain. -Greg C

Always a top shelf experience! Parking is good. Prices are reasonable. Too bad they are seasonable. Would be a great year round joint!!

    Cape Cod Fish & Chips

Visited beautiful Hyannis Cape Cod and on a lookout to find a good seafood restaurant with high quality food and won't break the bank. Local recommendations led us to Spanky's and were glad that we tried this place. We sat outside overlooking the harbor and enjoyed the cocktail drinks we ordered - Love on the Docks and Dark & Stormy. They don't cheap out on the booze but just disappointed that they're served in plastic cups. We wanted to try the Stuffed Quahogs for starters since this is one of Cape Cod's delicacy. There's so much flavor packed into one bite - crispy from the breading, tender clams and cheesy and garlicky from the other ingredients. Must try when you're in Cape Cod. For mains, we had the Lobster Roll and Cape Cod Fish and Chips. Both came with french fries and coleslaw. Portion sizes were very generous, prices were reasonable and seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. Would have preferred the lobster roll to be a little bit warm and more spices incorporated into the dish. Service was excellent with Catie being our server. Such a sweet and nice person, always checking to see if everything was okay or to refill our water glasses. If you enjoy seafood and wonderful seaside views, you would definitely want to try Spanky's Clam Shack & Seaside Saloon.

Spanky's was solid but not an immediate fan favorite...at least not for me. I loved the views of the water and boats - they have a great location. I ordered the fish and chips and the cod tasted very fresh. The only downside was it was devoid of seasoning. And the chips (fries) were very meh. The strawberry cheesecake tasted good but the presentation was not great as it was swimming in strawberry puree. The Harborside rum drink was nice. But throughout the meal I periodically got a whiff of mothballs. I'm not sure where it was coming from, but olfactory lobe reminders of grandma's closet is not what I expect or desire when dining out. Overall it was fine, but I'll try other places before I proclaim my Cape Cod fav!

Ask the Community - Spanky's Clam Shack

    Prices? On food?

Prices are competitive with other establishments. I highly recommend the lobster salad...enough for two!!

When is buck a shuck available?

The only "buck a shuck" of which I am aware is at Caroline's in Eastham. I believe that most restaurants on Cape Cod serve Wellfleet or Barnstable oysters. Delicious everywhere they're served but prices vary widely. Shop around!!!!!

Can we eat outdoors with our well behaved dog?

There were dogs outside when we were there and they were very well behaved!

How long is the wait for walk-ins?

We didn't have a wait, but we did have an earlier dinner around 4:30-5 pm. I would think anything later than that would be busy. I didn't see anyone waiting when we left this was a Friday night and still off season.

Do we need reservations or come and sit?

You might need to wait a bit but they always take walk-ins

We also tried the meatloaf, and it genuinely reminded us of our grandmother's from years ago -- comforting, hearty, and full of flavor. That's not something you find everywhere. Even in the middle of winter, the place had a warm, lively vibe. We ended up having a great conversation with someone we later found out was the owner -- just chatting about everyday life. That kind of genuine hospitality says a lot. Good food, great service, and an easygoing atmosphere. Thanks for a great experience -- we'll definitely be back!

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.
