I'm in my late 20's and have been coming here for just over 15 years. It is a wonderful place to stop and get a bite to eat. Their small slider burgers are excellent and the rest of the food is good as well. Everyone that works there is nice and if you have any sense of humor at all you will absolutely love the owner! For a place named after a cartoon character who is always eating burgers you would think they would have burgers you would want to always eat, they don't. We walked in and actually were greeted rather nicely, and this is when I stop on what was good about my experience there. I ordered a coffee and they bring it in a cup that looks like it has never been washed, not kidding. Can't forget that when they brought me the coffee it was only half a cup and said they had to let a new pot brew. So I decided to not drink the coffee and move it away from any possibilities of out waiter coming back to give me a refill. The chili burger I ordered was a small, fried, pathetic, excuse for a burger. The owner was the biggest problem for us. He was talking to a family two booths down about his throat surgery while other people, including myself, were eating. We don't want to hear about that kind of stuff while we eat. He seemed more interested in chatting with people, whom seemed like they were just wanting to spend time with family and eat, then being a business owner. On the way out, a couple came in and as they stepped through the door the boy on the grill shouted something. I would know what it was he shouted if he actually had looked at them when he talked. So this concludes my experience at Wimpy's. Ultimately, I can't see how this place is still open between the poor food, bad maintenance of their dishware, and the owners lack of manners on dining conversations. read more

Food is WAY over priced. $2.00 for a McDonalds sized burger that was about 3/4 the size of the bun. The burger was kind of burnt also. No refills on your pop! Seriously??? The place has way too many employees. I saw three different ones walk up to the front door, turn around and walk back. I don't know what they were doing. It's like they are waiting for something to do. The second you have a straw wrapper, empty plate or even an empty cracker wrapper, a hand shoots out and grabs it. We didn't know who are server was since we had about 5 different people come up to our table the entire time. And they brought us our fries about 5 minutes before we got our burgers. WTF??? I'm being generous with a 3-star review. Yes, they are rude. Some 20 years ago I was going to buy this place, heard it was for sale so I came up to check it out (24 Apr 2019). Sign in window said it was for sale. Got inside and owner's son rudely told me it's not for sale and that his father needs to take the sign down. They can keep the place. read more

My dad took us here as kids often so I have very fond memories of the place. Unfortunately our recent visit didn't quite live up to the nostalgia. My husband and I were seated and greeted by a young waitress who clearly had no idea what she was doing. She was timid and quiet as were all of the young bus boys. As we sat there we could see why- the owner was constantly barking out orders to do things like run food or clear tables before they even had a chance to do so. The constant yelling also grated on our nerves after awhile- just let them do their thing and work, there's no need to tell them what to do every thirty seconds. The waitress also totally screwed up our order- she brought chili fries to the table instead of the cheese fries I ordered and I had her, the cook and the owner question me on what I had ordered. Cheese fries, for God's sake, it's not that difficult. It's a mistake, just fix it. Then when our burgers came and mine was missing bacon and my husbands was missing mayo we just gave up, not wanting to go through all the nonsense again. She made time to stop at the table and ask if my husband was going to use his straw? When he said no she took it away, but never bothered to refill his coke. The entire experience was awkward and frustrating and we just wolfed down our food at top speed so we could leave. I walked in this restaurant to go meet up with friends and all I got was name calling by the OWNER. He is overly 'friendly' to the point it's bothersome. I was in the middle of a conversation with my friends and I was wearing hoop earrings so he decided that he should call me a hussy. He called a 17 year old a hussy and included his whole restaurant in the conversation and was very loud about it. Another thing that happened this same day was that my friend had to text her mom back and he yelled and made her feel bad about being on her phone and made her very uncomfortable to the point that we couldn't stand being in that restaurant and had to leave. We did not even finish our food because he was being so rude to us for no reason at all. We weren't being loud or anything, just eating and we get bossed around by the owner. The staff is mediocre at best but the owner just sits up front and just talks and yells to people even when his staff needs a bit of help in the back he refused and just yelled at them. I will never go back to this establishment ever again and I recommend NO ONE go here. If i could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. read more

Was there for the fourth of July weekend i like to try places alot of people talk bad about and i know they were right i mean they really do over charge for maybe .5 ounces of "ground beef" on my burger super greasy no credit cards and i went in 2 of the 5 days i ways up in the thumb and wow i walked in the doors unlocked open sign is still on it says they don't close for another hour some asshole who I'm guessing is the owner just yells were closed and continues chit chatting with customers i was only going to pick up a menu. I didn't think he was the owner the first time but i decided to go back and come to find out he is the owner and definitely the biggest shit head boss i have ever seen for lack of a better term. read more

this is quite possibly...no definitely...the worst dining experience i've ever had. we were heading to the thumb for the weekend and i looked up this place ahead of time. according to the menu, a cheesburger costs just $1.88, and i thought to myself at the time: "what kind of cheeseburger can you get for $1.88?" turns out i should have trusted my instincts. the meat that was served could hardly be called a burger: probably a 1-2 ounce patty at best, paper thin and shaped so irregularly that it literally made me cringe a little when i pried up the top bun in order to dress it. fries were passable. but the worst was the owner. clearly has some kind of screw loose and openly ridicules his teenage employees for not working hard enough in front of customers while he makes chit chat with regulars while never lifting a finger. couldn't get out of their fast enough. read more

whimpy's is to burgers is what coney island is to hotdogs. it's sloppy and greasy, good but turrible! never order anything but burgers and fries. no free refills on soda, and it looks cheap but you end up paying 6-8$. all the waiters are really weird and rude, but sloppy and fun and it's a very interesting place if you're into that sort of thing. read more

I love Wimpy's Place. I make it a point to go every time I visit my parents in Lexington. The burgers hit the spot. If you are looking for a gourmet burger go elsewhere, if you are looking for a great burger at a reasonable price this is the place for you. Fast service, friendly staff and great food. My family came here to get a quick breakfast before heading home on a 5 hour boat ride. The service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress was extremely rude. She kept making comments about us to her coworkers. There was a dog in our friends face the entire time they were eating. My moms food was cold and tasted disgusting and she asked nicely to have it taken off the bill and the owner cussed out my mom and said no. The owner also told my family and I that we need to "get out more." After fighting with the owner about our bill, he then started calling my family names and called my step dad an asshole. As we walked out, his son who seemed to be about 16 flipped us off out the window. Everyone we passed on the street walking back to our boat told us never to go there. My parents have owned a few restaurants and I've worked in the restaurant business for about 6 years and I could never imagine treating a customer this way. My family is calling the health department tomorrow. I highly do not recommend this place!!! read more

This place is a must. I have been visiting Wimpys for longer than I can remember. Old school, small hamburgers cooked on a well seasoned grill. Pickles and grilled onions round out the burger. No great deals as they charge you for EVERYTHING besides the burger and the bun but great old time burgers. read more

I've gone here for I don't even know how long and I must say some of these reviews are very sad- this establishment has been around for a very long time and the owner has always been his funny sarcastic self. i been going to this area since i was a kid..been taking my son in here since he was 4 years old..great slider burgers and breakfast..its friendly place with local people there.potatos are kinda cheap they are kinda scimpy with them, the owner is a colorful character..easy to joke around with..if you are near there ..worth taking in all the other shops around there..really nice around summer holiays..im always around there for long weekends. read more

The burgers are good, but over-the-top greasy. The prices are hardly expensive, but you pay a bit more than you might expect given the portion size. I love the diner atmosphere, although the seating is a bit cramped. It's definitely worth a trip for lunch if you're in the area, but you probably won't miss it when you leave. read more

This place used to be good . The service is terrible and the food substandard. They got a good reputation years ago, and are relying on that instead of quality service and food. Should have maintained their old level of quality. But they don't have to because tourists still flock in not knowing what they are in for. I am a local and will NEVER go back there. Okay. My family vacationed in Lexington and I was told I HAD to try wimps. Worst decision of my life!!!! The owner, his son and everyone else working there were rude as HELL. Excuse the language but it's necessary. We walked in and immediately started asking us what we wanted to drink, we haven't even found a table for all 8 of us yet and already hounding us about drinks. Not only did they talk crap about my family to me and my sister sitting at a separate table, but the waitress gave us several dirty looks. There was a dog drooling over our food on the steps, we got yelled at for being near the dog, which wasn't our fault since the table was RIGHT next to the steps. By the end of our breakfast they were trying to take our plates before we were done eating. My mom didn't eat her food because it was cold and disgusting. They MADE her pay. We were all riled up at the end when we paid. The owner insulted us, told us we needed to get out more, and when we were all done paying they flipped us off. Someone needs to SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. read more

After a brief visit to check in on our summer cottage, my mother in law and I decided to stop and have a quick bite to eat at Wimpy's. We have been here numerous times during all seasons and have enjoyed the atmosphere and food in the past. On this visit, Sunday, April 27, 2014, upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a male wait staff who was loud and intoxicated. He made several references to drinking Captain Morgan before we even ordered our food. A female wait staff was speaking to someone on a call and the male wait staff referred to the person on the phone in a derogatory manner several times. After the phone call, there was more discussion between the male and female wait staff and disparaging remarks about the woman on the other end of the phone line. I understand that we were just eating sliders but I don't need to hear a heated argument/discussion and the swearing in particular made me and my mother-in law very uncomfortable. There didn't appear to be any management/leadership on site to handle the situation. Very disappointing experience. One last note, the establishment could use a good cleaning as there was grease on the walls and pictures. Wimpy's Place has seen better days! read more
