I really enjoy your donuts however I'm very disappointed in the quality lately. Out of the last 4 out of 6 times, part of my order has been stale donuts from the evening before. I paid $10 for an item that cost $5.79 plus 10% tax, which should total $6.37. My correct change should have been $3.63, but I was only given $2.58. After I sat down, ate, and finished, I asked for my receipt -- and they said they couldn't print it anymore, even though it had only been a few minutes since the purchase. That's completely unacceptable. I also asked the person who made my croissant why there was only one thin slice of cheese and one thin slice of ham, and they told me it's because the owner instructs them to make it that way. That's ridiculous. For reference, I usually go to Yum Yum Donuts (Winchell's Donut House in Redondo Beach) -- a very similar type of shop, but their croissants are delicious, full, and generous. I always ask them to make mine fresh, not one of those pre-made ones sitting in the display. They cut the croissant, add the deli slices, and make it right there -- and it's always worth it. If they do this to 70 customers a day, that's $70 every single day, or about $2,100 a month. That's not a mistake -- that's stealing. I decided to try Wancho's for the first time today, and honestly... never again. This place needs to learn what honesty and quality mean. Customers deserve fair change and decent food, not to be shorted in both. read more

Hit or miss with the donuts here, some days they are perfectly made and have great taste! Some days not sure if they are old or double oiled but taste odd and are even darker than usual. Picked up a couple dozen donuts for the troops at work and I didn't have the time to get to a gourmet place like Blue Star or the Rosecrans Randy's. I've stopped at this Winchell's a few times and while the donuts are okay sometimes the cleanliness of the shop or the trays or the case sketches me out. For the second time in a few months I had to point out a bug sitting on "fresh" donuts in the display. One time it was a really gross looking black fuzzy spider and I seriously had to ask if it was a random non Halloween scary donut (note it was no where near Halloween). When I pointed out the buggy donut the associate took the tongs, grabbed the donut, shook off the bug and put the donut on another tray behind her. I am positive the second I left that donut went back in the case for sale. Note that no bugs were harmed as both times this has happened the bug or spider were able to scurry under the case or counter. I wonder if they are collecting a paycheck and work there. Kinda gross and since the donuts aren't lights out good. Probably best I only go there when I am donut desperate. read more

I can't believe this is a ham and cheese croissant sandwich??!?? It's really just 80% croissant and 20% give or take ham and cheese. I was too embarrassed to make a scene as the cashier was super friendly but really!?!? Is this what a $3-4$ sandwich cost!?! Dear Mr Donut (yes, I'm speaking to the donut), I haven't seen you in a while and it will probably be some time before we meet again. That's not a bad thing. Don't worry, there will be others to take my place in the meantime. For now, just keep tasting good and satisfying those sweet tooths. The donuts here are good especially when fresh. If they aren't out of the oven or fryer fresh, then a quick couple of seconds zap in the microwave will bring the softness back. Just don't leave them in there too long. This place is health hazard. Manager is wiping his face, mouth and nose area and touching the part of the tongs that touch the donuts. Was ignored and skipped after waiting in line for 5 minutes. No big surprise this place has only 2 stars!! This is a bagel with cream cheese. When I asked for for more cream cheese because there was barely any on the bagel I already paid for, they charged another $170! That's more then half of the original price for something I already paid for! Not to mention they try and make a profit by charging $.99 if you use an atm card under $10. The banks only charge them like $.15 on a $3 charge. You have to wonder how places like this even stay in business! Winchell's is a Southern California tradition that started in Temple City and is now throughout L.A. This may be the saddest location of them all. Winchell's is owned by Yum Yum Donuts and is remarkably as underwhelming as it's parent doughnut company. In an era were fresh donuts are everywhere and cool new filled donuts or cronuts are popping up daily, this Winchell's really feels dated. It's slogan may be "Home of the Warm 'n Fresh Donut," but I stopped in for a bag of donuts for dessert and found it to be the "Shop of the Dry 'n Old Donut." There is one main positive with this Winchell's. It's the sweet lady that was working behind the counter. After realizing I was there, she came out and greeted me with a smile while waiting patiently for me to choose. She's good at her job. +1 star for her. I ended up with a Chocolate-frosted Glazed Donut, a Maple-frosted Bar, and a Glazed Old-fashioned Cake Doughnut. None were really worth the calories or fat. Sigh. read more

This is one of the worst businesses I have ever seen for donuts. I went in to get three dozen donuts and after waiting for over 20 minutes was never helped. They serve everyone else and completely skipped me twice despite my request to please purchase donuts. They discriminate and will only help you if you speak Spanish as a first language. Do you change your milk or clean the container for your milk everyday? My mom bought coffee last July 7 and she noticed that the milk kettle was almost empty. She thought that there were many customers that came earlier than 6 PM so she poured the last drop of the milk. She headed home and after one hour of consuming the coffee, she had continuous diarrhea and got dehydrated. Upon investigation she said that it was only the coffee that she had that day. Terrible service. I came in for a VEGGIE sandwich. The tall, old man behind the counter didn't even greet me and seemed to be in a bad mood. He started heating pastrami for my sandwich..... im vegetarian. I reminded him i wanted a veggie sandwich and he went off on me. I got 2 donuts and iced coffee. Iced coffee tastes worse then yum yum donuts. Lady behind the counter is hard of hearing, asking the same question 2 and 3 times. Sorry I don't speak Spanish. Place has no bathroom for customers. Front counter refrigerator small door sagging. Almost to the point that is nearly has a gap for allowing air in the refrigerator. Great place to eat if you love day old donuts. I Purchased a croissant with ham and cheese and the ham was cold and the croissant was hard... And that was after I asked them to warm it up. Lowest skill in customer service. My entire experience here from the moment asked for coffee was horrible; 1. Stale coffee 2. Noticed that my change was handed to me without a receipt. (I turned and said yay son we get a dozen donuts on Winchells) If I would have know this is what would happen over $9.00 I would have never mentioned it TAKE THE SIGN DOWN!! 3. The lady argued that she gave me the a receipt. 4. Blamed me, after finding the receipt in the trash. 5. She then called someone she described as the Owner - I explained the situation, and this man was even more RUDE to me and my son. 6.
