Windchimes was my first culinary experience in Ohio, and it remains a favorite that I always return to. Their menu is located online as well, so if you have the desire for takeout you can just google it and find all of your favorites! My boyfriend and I have had several dishes, for their chicken to beef as well as their Pad Thai [which is flavorful and spicy!] and we've never had a bad experience there. Our favorites are the Mala Chicken [extra spicy] and the House Pad Thai. The restaurant also offers sit-down dining which is lovely, it has a great decor perfect for a date or a family outting! The food here caters to almost everybody's taste. They have a very wide spectrum of items on the menu. If you like spicy, there is something for you and, even if you don't, you have many items to choose from. Vegetarians have similar choices. I love this restaurant for their quick service. I generally don't go for Americanized Chinese, but my fiance wanted to go here for their "Hong Kong Menu". I was hesitant but I reluctanty went along. So once we were seated, we received their "standard" dinner menus. One quick glance and my fiance asked for their Chinese menu. Their Chinese menu consists of 10 items. We went with the Sa Cha Beef and Beef Chow Fun (the dish my fiance was jonesing for). Now, they both tasted great, and you could definitely taste the sa cha sauce in my dish. But unless I'm craving 1 of the 10 authentic dishes they have, there are plenty of other restaurants around that I can go to for excellent, authentic Chinese food. I will say the service is excellent. Our server was polite and talked Cantonese with my fiance, and an elderly gentlemen (who could have been the owner) stopped by as well. I also witnessed a customer from a neighboring table complain about his dish and they offered to make him another in a very polite manner, but he declined. read more

Ok, I'm being generous here. This is really a 3.5 in my opinion. The reason being that I wasn't overly impressed by the food. I ordered the pork Szechwan lunch combo. The combos come with one crab Rangoon and one egg roll. For a perfect lunch portion entree and 2 small appetizers being under $8 is not a bad deal! The crab Rangoon was really good and so were the sauces that came with it. It came with a spicy mustard sauce and a sweet duck sauce. I love wasabi and pack it on my sushi, but this mustard sauce took it to another level.. I took a bite and thought wow that's spicy, then 3 seconds later was grabbing my face/nose and my eyes were watering! It was really intense! My friend and I both were having nose/allergy issues so we kept eating and laughing at how funny we looked when the kick came around. The egg roll was good but nothing extra special. As for the main course I'll have to say I really appreciate the lunch sized portions. It wasn't over sized and didn't leave me hungry either. I just can't say I loved the food though unfortunately. The pork was ok, and the broccoli wasn't cooked enough I had to really bite down on it. I ordered it wanting something flavorful and SPICY! It had a little indicator next to it on the menu to let guests know it had some heat. It didn't have any :( Also the flavor wasn't as great as I had expected it all blended together and had a one note taste that was just "ok". Service was amazing, they know how to get people back to work (always so excited to go back *eye roll*). A reliable Chinese place in a little strip mall on Frantz Road. The quality of the food is pretty good. The level of heat of the dishes seems to vary depending on who is in the kitchen. I've had some super spicy stuff and some not-so spicy stuff. Last night, it was middle ground... not spicy but had a good level heat so it wasn't bland. I do recommend the noodle dishes, they may not be terribly spicy but they are consistently tasty and are large portions (enough for lunch the next day). read more

This restaurant has been my "go to" restaurant for a long time but tonight was a major turn off. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. The portion was great but the quality was god awful. I would not pay 50 cents for that garbage again. The quality was sub-standard and there was no way it was freshly made. Clearly the chicken had been purchased from a distributor as a short cut with no regard for quality. I will return , but next time I will confirm my dishes armade to order. I am a lifelong customer of Windchimes, it's my favorite Chinese restaurant in Columbus! My family has been coming here for years and will continue to do so. They use high quality meats and I've never felt like I was eating "street meat" quality chicken or beef. Their prices are also VERY reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion you get. Mitch, the owner, always greets our family when we're there and is very attentive. If there's ever a mistake (which is rare) they correct it right away. Their food is DELICIOUS, my favorite is String Beans and Chicken (ask for it to be made with Szechuan sauce, and sliced chicken instead of shredded!). They also have excellent Crab Rangoon with duck sauce, the best in Columbus. I also occasionally order their sesame chicken, general tsos, mala string beans and chicken, and their sweet and sour chicken. All of these are great, but anything with szechuan sauce stands out, in my opinion. The only negative I have to say is 90% of the time when I order takeout, I get what I expect (decicious food!). But then there's the 10% where the szechuan sauce seems more watered down, or tastes different. It's a much lighter color and doesn't taste as good, and kind of ruins it for me. I attribute the inconsistency to their cooks making the orders different ways on different days. But otherwise I have no complaints and will be a lifelong customer. read more

Whenever I'm in Dublin I try to stop and get some of my staple Chinese food - Sweet and Sour Chicken. The food has always been fresh and hot, the service is really good and the price is reasonable. I am SO not enthused about this place. I went there last night, because I'm new to the area and I asked the cashier at Home Depot what would be a good Chinese restaurant. The first problem I had was getting there. Something is wrong with the addresses on Frantz Rd. I was gong the wrong way, I called and spoke to one person at the restaurant and he was of ZERO assistance. For some reason since he didn't know where I was at and couldn't help me, it didn't occur to him to put someone else on the phone. DUH! Anyway, thanks to google maps I found it. I ordered war siu gui, egg roll, & shrimp fried rice. The gravy for the war siu gui was definitely below average, the egg roll was dry as sand and I haven't tasted the shrimp fried rice. This is not a place that I am feeling at all to return to. But I may try it again and get something totally different because I am well aware that sometimes restaurants are good at all things but there are some things they do well. read more

Been here a couple of times with my co-workers as I work nearby. The interior is nicely decorated and clean. The wait staff is always courteous and pretty quick. The price is reasonable, and the quality of their food is pretty good. The portion size is on the smaller side in my opinion. The food here is completely Americanized, which might be good for some, but not so good for an Asian like me. Apparently they have a Chinese menu too, but I've never seen it before... will need to specifically ask for one next time. Depending on what I can get from their Chinese menu, I could see this restaurant getting 4 stars instead of 3 stars. read more

I returned to give this place another try after a 5 yr hiatus and I think it may 5 yrs again before I return. I would suggest one exit south at Mill Run for better Chinese Dining. Three words seem to confuse me about this place-spicy, service, and appetizer. Spicy-I ordered the Spicy triple delight with scallops, shrimp & chicken with steamed rice. "That is spicy, spicy right?" I plead "Oh yes no problem it is spicy" Waiters reassures but doesn't seem to want to break down their levels of spicy to me. "Allright because I like spicy." Nope, I would concede that this may be spicy to my dad but would be considered mildly spiced by almost anyone else. It shouldn't be called spicy then. Another person ordered his Pad Thai extra spicy which also lacked the spice. hmm. Service- The service was ho hum and a bit slow. The waiter had a personality of well the table as engaging in any conversation was not on his mind. We were a group of 12 with maybe only 10-15 other people in the restaurant. He was very careful about how many chopsticks he brought as it seemed like he didn't want to give us any. He brought egg rolls and soup to those that ordered that but waited till our meals to bring the appetizers. Appetizer-He placed our calamari down after he had placed my wife's Pad Thai. he sort of joked by asking he wanted the side of calamari. My wife and I said " Wasn't that suppose to be an appetizer." Haha and then quickly ignore and move on to the next plate. No-I am sorry it took so long or any other explanation. Frustrating. I would of been angry if the appetizer wasn't so good. i would of asked for money back or sent it back but the calamari was delightful. The couple across from us ordered Wasabi Tuna and thought of complaining as well but theirs was also very good. The food was decent but nothing I would brag about. The shrimp was tough and chewy. I wouldn't order the spicy triple delight again and my wife wouldn't order Pad Thai here (no peanuts with it:() The food wasn't the cheap Chinese Buffet quality greasy, tough and slimy but it wasn't all that flavorful either. A few people in our group really enjoyed their meals so I know it isn't crap but it is not for me. I would order the Wasabi Tuna and leave if I came back. Prices are overall decent but too expensive for me for what I got ($13.25). I will either stick with cheap greasy Chinese food or head over to Mill Run for my next Chinese meal. I would of given it 2 stars but half of the people seemed overall pleased and come her more frequent so I know it fits some tastes just not mine. read more

I was here this evening with a large party of 15 or so. The staff was very accommodating! Our waiter was attentive and quick. I wasn't super hungry and so I just had wonton soup and an egg roll. Both were very good! What I did notice was that the menu is really descriptive. It tells you exactly what's in each dish and what the sauce is like. No generic "beef with vegetables" kind of descriptions! The girls who did order main courses were happy with their selections too. The staff was happy to make substitutions and other special requests for some of the girls. Everything that came out looked delicious - the portion sizes are very generous as well, you could easily split a dish for two people. I will be back here again! read more

Best Chinese food ever. We usually order the sliced pork with bok choy, xo shrimp, pad Thai, and the beef chow fun. All these dishes are excellent! The service is quick and efficient. Well I hate to do this but have noticed a trend with this restaurant, I tried multiple of their appetizers and each item was a low quantity with small amounts of meat on it. I tried the BBQ ribs, there were 3 bones, about 90% bone and 10% meat, recently ordered chicken wings, and they brought out the smallest wings I have ever seen in my life, and I wish I was joking about that. The food is still great, just avoid ordering any appetizers, especially if you plan on sharing them with someone they are not worth it unfortunately. read more

The Windchimes restaurant is close to where I work, and some of my co-workers make a habit of eating there every week. I have tagged along twice now, and each time I ordered off of the special lunch combination menu that they offer. The menu has a handful of entries, and each combo comes with an egg roll, a crab wrap, and a side of rice. The food to me is just okay....it satisfies for a quick lunch but its certainly not the best Chinese food in town. It is priced accordingly...and you can easily get out for under $10. One thing is for sure, the service is quick. They will get you in and out right away, which is sometimes nice when you have limited time to get back to the office. read more

Got the Teriyaki Chicken and was not expecting the chicken to be grilled. The sauce and vegetables that came with it were fantastic; however, my only complaint is that not all of the chicken was completely cooked. I recommend that if you are a Teriyaki Chicken person, be sure to ask for the meat to be well done. Aside from that, you've got yourself some great food! read more

This review is not a review on the food at Winchimes, though it did smell absolutely delightful when I walked into their establishment...and I will definitely return to try the food asap! This review is to praise the staff! Two weeks ago, my purse was stolen while at the Dub Pub (in the same shopping plaza as Windchimes). Columbus was hit with a pretty hard snow storm that same evening and following day. The past few days in Columbus has been rather warm, so it has melted almost all of the snow that has accumulated through several bad storms. Anna, an employee of Windchimes, found my purse near a pile of melted snow today! Apparently the thief that stole my purse, took the cash, and discarded everything else, and then it was snowed over for two weeks. Anna found my bank card in the purse, contacted my bank, and asked them to let me know she had found my purse. This was an act of great honesty and humanity! She went above and beyond what it took, to return a perfect strangers belongings...and I could not be more thankful. This act of kindness, was more than enough for me to praise this establishment and PLAN a followup dining event! read more

The XO sauce is LIT AF, serious umami. The calamari was rubber but the shrimp and scallops were perfect.

We ordered from their Chinese menu(not the American one). Food was good, portion size is not that big so if you want to do family style then everyone can probably try a couple bites of each dish. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area. read more

Windchimes is one of the best restaurants in Columbus, hands down! I have gone there alone for a drink in the bar, had a romantic dinner with my husband in the dining room, and often take a group of 14-20 there. Servers are on top of things, and are always spot on (even with a large group of separate checks), no mistakes. Food prepared as requested. I have never seen a dish come out incorrectly and I've been there at least 20 times over the last year. Portions are great, take out is quick and accurate. New menu new prices. Usually love the food, service ect.. i order lunch a lot, lately they barely give any sauce on any dish. I have to ask for extra sauce..now they charging you $1.50 for extra sauce.. I THINK WINDCHIMES SHOULD GIVE ENOUGH SAUCE TO COVER THE DISH WITH OUT CHARGING EXTRA MONEY.
