It's been awhile since I ventured into the Chinese food realm - a few experiences in Columbus made be abandon my love of lo mein for a few years. My goal for 2020 is to try more ethnic restaurants so I took the safe route to try Windchimes. It was recommended by long-term locals. The menu seems like typical American-Chinese food. The online menu is difficult to navigate and does not provide many descriptions. I grabbed a paper menu at the restaurant that fixes this problem. I ordered General Tso's with fried rice on the side and chicken lo mein. It was easy to order over the phone and the food was hot and ready upon arrival. The fried rice is just white rice fried in soy sauce - no veggies but still tastes good. The General Tso's was standard- crispy with delicious sauce, barely any heat. The chicken lo mein was solid but could afford more veggies and chicken. The food was good and I would order takeout again, but it was not standout by any means. read more

We were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't very busy on a Friday night, but realized afterward they had seating we couldn't see. The service is always excellent, the staff are friendly, and the found is outstanding. They have the best egg roll in Columbus and that is a must have when visiting. Windchimes gets 3.5 in my book. I just get takeout from here and haven't ate in yet. When you place your order just leave right away to get it, no matter what time they say it will be ready. Good food and average portion size, that's really all I have to say. This is just another Chinese restraunt that's in my rotation. I'll get it again when I'm tired with other options. read more

This place has really gone downhill since the start of COVID. I used to be a regular here, but every time I order now, the food tastes bad. Chicken was old and rubbery, beef was soft and soggy, and the shrimp tasted spoiled. I will not be coming back. read more

Needed a takeout dinner while on the road. Chinese was the choice, thanks to the Yelpers who were there before me. This place has good food. My Chinese restaurant gauge is Hot and Sour soup. There's is extremely good. I didn't want much more food, so I got the Sampler Platter. Let me just do this based on what I know: The spring roll and beef teriyaki were very good. The BBQ ribs were average. They were dry and didn't have much taste. As for the stuff that I don't know: The other three items (shrimp toast, crab meat wraps, and fried wontons) were fried and tasted mostly like fried things. I'd not get any of them as an appetizer. Service was fast and friendly. I called them at 7:10 on a Tuesday and they promised the items in 10 minutes. One final warning, if ordering takeout and in a hotel, be sure to ask for napkins and fork/spoon/chop sticks as none were provided as normal course. Really good food, nice variety, and very quick service! I've had the crispy pineapple chicken and the chicken with broccoli, and both were great. My only complaint is that the fried rice has no eggs, onions, etc in it. I think it was just rice with soy sauce. read more

I ordered hot and sour soup, lo mein, and general tsos chicken with fried rice for pick up. They were all excellent, and I am very picky about my Chinese food. One thing to note is that I ordered white meat chicken which is substituted at no additional cost and it was delicious!! read more

I would say to me this place is a 3.5. I was overall pretty confused about this restaurant. I came in assuming it'd be a real Chinese restaurant but it actually wasn't the case. Yes it serves Chinese food but I think they are mostly targeting for non-Asian customers. There is basically no Chinese menu - well with a small sheet of paper and most dishes weren't available and there was no price listed? Their menu is all in English and sounds very Americanized. I did order from that tiny sheet of paper. When our order came, one of the dishes wasn't anything what I was expecting to see. The pickled cabbage stir-fried with squid black bean sauce 鼓汁酸菜炒魷魚(3/5) dish was super confusing. It was not black bean sauce based and there was no pickled cabbage... I was suspecting that it was cooked or served wrong? It tasted fine but I felt like it wasn't what was stated. Also tried beef chow fun 乾炒牛河 (4/5) this was pretty good. But slightly adapted. Garlic eggplant with minced pork 大蒜肉粒魚香茄子 (3.5/5) was not bad but it was a little on the greasy side. Although the serving pot made the dish look big, it honestly wasn't the case. The actual quantity served was not very much and there wasn't many eggplant. This place is fine - I am good with the food taste but if you are looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant, this probably isn't the right place for you as they don't have many authentic selections. read more

Since moving to the Hilliard area, this has been my go-to Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious, the staff/management are very kind, and the restaurant itself has a good ambiance. The manager was very sociable and was telling us funny stories, I highly recommend this place if you haven't had it. read more

I ordered delivery from Windchimes (they use Door Dash to deliver). My order was received and delivered satisfactorily. I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan and Wanton Soup. The portion sizes were good, but the food was fairly bland. The food also didn't come with any extras like silverware. If I were to get food from here again I would probably dine in restaurant and see if it's any better. read more

Havent been in here years. Stopped in here last night with a friend to have dinner. We were quickly seated in the main dining room and we were greeted by our waiter. He took our drink orders and was back in no time. We looked over the menu and finally ordered egg rolls as our appetizer. I had the Sweet & Sour Chicken where my friend had the 'Wor Sue Gai'. The food tasted good and the atmosphere was just as good. Kind of quiet when we were there, but overall it was a great experience! read more

Windchimes!!! Windchimes is one of those places I just crave from time to time. If you are carrying food out or eating in their restaurant you cannot go wrong. They also have a very nice bar area where it is nice to unwind or catch a game. First off Chinese food cannot blow your mind hence why I am giving it 4 stars. Windchimes is always good. The service is good, food is good and price is good. If you like Chinese food (American Chinese food) then this should be on your short list. I do have to say though from a service stand point the service at Windchimes is some of the best in town. Their egg rolls are very good as is really any dish on the menu. What a great find. Excellent value. Took the wife here for date night and was pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door, it not strip mall Chinese. The Mu Shu pork was incredible. I highly recommend. This is the best Chinese food I have had since moving to Columbus. read more

Windchimes is quite possibly the most average Chinese food one can consume. It's not the best. It's not the worst. It's just averagely in between. There's nothing exciting on their menu. Heck, the menu is sometimes annoying to navigate in their tiny 4 x 4 hard cover books, but once you find something that suits your fancy.... It comes out fairly quick. If you find yourself feeling exceptionally average, then the average occasion might arise for you to eat at an average place. Windchimes should definitely fill that average food void in your existence. Dishes are all pretty much similar to the next.... Dishes of veggies, with sauce in your choice and protein of your choice. I've had three dishes here and they all tasted pretty much the same. I will say that their appetizers of the pan fried dumplings were actually not too shabby. I do have a sour note to convey, I was in here for lunch and another table behind us ordered a seafood item which made my entire table repulsively gag and sign our receipts much quicker to get out the door. Seafood items really shouldn't smell like that, or I would imagine if it were fish sauce, it was a little too much. A little of that stuff goes a really long way. Below average - smell wise. We have been coming there for many years and every time the food has been well presented, fresh, and great tasting. Service has always been good also. Love this place!! It's my go-to place for pick up! My favorite curry dishes are Mala chicken, Bali curry (I've only tried chicken and tofu). Great flavors and try it with white rice instead of fried rice. Other dishes I have tried shrimp toast, pad Thai and Singapore noodles. All of them are great options. Chicken with Stapler pin (may be their new recipe).......I went for lunch today with my co-workers, while I was eating it I got a staple pin in my food. I showed it to the server, his response was ridiculous. He sounded that it is quiet common and if I still have concerns I was asked to speak to the owner. My coworkers and I placed a lunch take out order for the seven of us. I decided to spoil myself a little and ordered the $13.00 teriyaki chicken. I've had this dish when dining in a while back and let me tell you, it was not what I received. All that they gave me was a container of sliced grilled chicken and a container of rice. There was no teriyaki sauce on the chicken OR on the side. Plus it wasn't the same chicken I had before. I decided to call them and see if they could possibly bring me the correct meal or make it right in some way. When I called, the man on the phone argued with me and insisted they put the sauce in a container, on the side, and in the bag. I told him that yes there was a sauce, but it was the extra brown sauce my other coworker ordered. I know what teriyaki sauce tastes like and it definitely wasn't it. He kept putting me on hold then coming back and insisting I was wrong and that they know it's the right chicken and they know the sauce was there. He said the only thing they could do was make me something else but I had to bring them the other meal back and pick it up myself. I told him my lunch was over and I couldn't leave. He actually refused a refund or credit and said there was nothing he could do. I apparently didn't specify that I wanted the "specialty menu" teriyaki chicken and apparently I'm just lying that I have no sauce. After 10 minutes on the phone during my lunch, while my other coworker are eating their meals, one of the girls grabs my phone to see if they can get further with the worker than I did. Finally, after a 19 minute conversation, the guy agrees to have a different meal delivered to me but refused to issue any credits. Windchimes has not only lost me as a customer, but they have also lost the other coworkers who ordered with me that day. This was a lunch order of over $50, we work right down the street and will never order there again. I'm not a hard person it please. A simple refund, future credit, or even for the worker to have agreed to bring me something else right away would have made me happy. I've never been spoke to as a customer the way this guy spoke to me. I'll never go back there again. read more

We ordered takeout tonight. It was terrible. Chicken Lo Mein was extremely oily and way to much garlic. When you put on your mouth your lips become saturated with oil. This has been my "go to" Chinese restaurant for more than 20 years. I don't know if it's come under new management recently, but our last order was so disappointing! The lo mein noodles are thinner, the wor sue gai sauce was less tasty and everything was simply a lesser quality. We went here with zero expectations and left disappointed. The food is all very neutral. Spicy fried tofu.. Looks great, no flavor. What did they do to make chili flakes tasteless? Hunan beef.. No flavor. How does beef taste like basically just a soft chew. The dishes looked different. They tasted about the same. The fried dumplings were good. The eggdrop soup was also good. The noodles were in a separate container, DRIED and BURNT. it looked like shredded wheat cereal! So I poured the sauce portion on the noodles hoping to rehydrate them...it didn't work. We ordered from Windchimes for the first time tonight after we found it on DoorDash with relatively good reviews. The price seemed a bit steep but with such good reviews we thought it would be worth it. We were very wrong. The food had absolutely no flavor. We ordered a bit of everything and only the egg roll warranted a "eh it's fine" review. I'm truly puzzled by the reviews and will definitely not be recommending/ordering from them again. read more

Okay, they have really good lunch specials, they have filling proportions. It's convenient for me because I work in the strip they are in . I like their hot mustard and their sweet and sour sauce . Their pineapple chicken is so delicious . Their egg rolls I highly recommend although they are a little pricy . I like how fast they are for orders . Their desserts are TERRIBLE . Do not get their ice cream it is frozen from years ago and their tiramisu is very frozen as well. If you're looking for a quick bite, with great egg rolls enjoy this place ! read more

Had lunch today with friends. I've eaten at Windchimes numerous times over the last 8 years, but haven't been there recently. Today i was happy to see the quality hasn't diminished since I was here last. They offer lunch portions of all their menu items at a reduced price, along with a couple of combination plates. I started with an egg roll - their's are unique - using peanut butter along wih the fresh vegetables and ground meat (chicken and pork) - a tasty change and it was finished just for me - not sitting around, pre-fried, For my entree, I ordered chicken with string beans which was nicely seasoned with soy, onion and roasted chile - not spicy to me ( I like medium heat). It was served with a cup of steamed jasmine rice - excellent - jasmine rice has a terrific flavor - nicer than just an order of steamed medium grain rice. My friends enjoyed Szechuan Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice, which they enjoyed. In the past I have enjoyed their Chicken Phad Thai, Mongoian Chicken, Mala Steak Pork and String Beans, and Moo Shu Chicken. All are freshly prepared with lean meats, fresh vegetables and tasty sauces. Service is fast for lunch - appetizers within 5 minutes, and entrees shortly after. Drink refills are fast as well. This is my office's go-to Chinese spot, so when I finally decided to give into my craving, I checked it out. I have to say, it was about average for everything that we ordered. I ordered takeout and they were good with their safety practices. I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan and my husband had the sesame beef. We also ordered fried rice. My Moo Goo Gai Pan wasn't very good. Their white sauce tasted a watery broth, instead of the delicate white sauce that I am used to receiving with this dish. I had to add so many various condiments to it just to give it any type of flavor. It was pretty much just steam chicken and vegetables. I didn't save my leftovers, of which there was a lot. His Sesame beef was actually pretty decent. The beef was very tender and I liked the sweetness of the sauce. We both ate his more because mine was so mediocre. There's a lot of options here, and there are some nice deals on lunch combos. I really liked the garlic shrimp entree that I had for lunch. It was the right amount of food, and prices are reasonable. There wasn't too much sauce and a good portion of rice. Food comes out very fast, and the servers are friendly. Our water was always filled from their attentiveness. I'd like to come back to try food from the dinner menu, Hong Kong menu, or Oriental menu. I love Cantonese food since I grew up with it. Windchimes is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in the Tuttle area. The food is good (I've not had anything I didn't like), the service is fast, wait staff is friendly, and lunch is pretty cheap. I've gotten takeout dinner from them a few times, which was still reasonably priced. It's cheaper than the Azn buffet across the street (formerly known as E Chen's), higher quality, and still decent sized portions. There's always a lunch crowd, but there's a lot of seating so it's never been a problem. The only thing I would say I don't like about Windchimes is that the portion of rice that comes with your entree (at least when you eat in at lunch) seems small in comparison to how much meat/vegetables are in the dish itself. read more

Boyfriend and I wanted to try new place for dinner. The environment is nice. a little busy looking but nice. Seems a little odd that they have a "post" tree in the dining area that has a monkey on it. We ordered potstickers and BF ordered a spring roll. He said it was pretty good. Potstickers were good with soy dipping sauce. I ordered Kung Pao Trio & fried rice and he ordered Pad Thai. Nice portion size. Very flavorful entrees and very filling. Fried rice I thought was bland. Not much to it. Found a few carrots in it. Dinners run about $13 each and potstickers $6.50. Waiter was very nice and stayed on top of service the whole visit. I believe we will visit here again. Nice experience. Only thing that I think I would change is the music they were playing in the dining room. It was music you would hear on the radio instead of the relaxing music asian restarants normally have for our listening pleasure. read more
