I went here with couple of my friends. The place is quaint, few tables, with couch like setting. They also sell hand painted wine glasses and other neat stuff. My friend and I ordered Mosato, but before that we asked for some sample and they gave us a pretty hefty sized sample. the price of wine is comparable to any that you get at a restaurant, just the selection is greater for obvious reasons. There was couple of things that I found annoying about this place, when you ask for a glass of water, they bring it straight from the tap, it was really disgusting because it was room temperature tap water. We have been to this establishment multiple times to show support for our friend's son and and girlfriend who perform at this venue. They are the only reason we would or will come and support this business. We have received terrible service from the owner of the establishment each visit. I am currently sitting at a table and have been waiting 25 minutes to order food. I was standing at the end of the bar waiting to place my order, until she asked me where I was sitting and said have a seat and I'll be with you in a minute. Well I have been waiting for 25 minutes watching her wait on other customers, taste wine, dry wine glasses, etc.....needless to say I am finishing this glass and leaving without spending any more money here. read more

I really enjoy going to Wine Me Up, they have a very diverse selection of wine and craft beers. They have wine or craft beer tastings every week with appetizers and the price is very reasonable! I'm not much of a beer person but I've enjoyed learning all the different tastes, I guess I've expanded my interests... On Fridays and Saturdays they have live music, again very diverse, very enjoyable. They now have a wine club that is awesome. Dropped by this place a few times. It's a good place to taste and discover new wine. They have a neat machine that dispenses their wine. They serve their wine in two sizes, 2oz. or 5 oz. I have had some really good wine there, in fact I was so impressed by one called 'The Prisoner' that I bought a bottle there for $40 which was the most I had spent on wine at the time. They also have a few beers in bottles you can buy, some microbrews and a few imports from Germany/Belgium. Every time I have been to the place so far both the owners were working. Both are knowledgeable and passionate about wine. The patrons I have seen/interacted with do not seem like wine snobs and were quite friendly. The only downside to the place is the prices. The average is around 4-5 dollars for a 2oz. sampler and can get up to over 10 dollars for a 5oz glass. Your bill can add up very fast after a few. If you are a wine enthusiast, this place is a no brainer and price shouldn't be much of an issue. For others, try it out and see if they can turn you into one. read more

My Friends Stopped by at 3:50 pm they were closed! NO ONE opened door but there we people inside. So my other friend called and Spoke with Michelle (maybe new owner) not sure... I've gone to wine me up for a couple of years now and was surprised when the previous owners sold the place. My husband and I have gone in a few times and have always enjoyed ourselves there and were hoping that the new young owners would do good by this place. UNFORTUNATELY! We decided to take some our friends over for a birthday celebration and talked them into going based on our previous experiences. WHAT A MISTAKE. I should have known something would go wrong from the moment I made reservations. I used the on-line service to make a reservation for my party, when I called the woman that answer was somewhat rude and told me that there would be no problem. After having a great dinner (at another location) we called to let them know that we would be a few minutes late because the restaurant we were at was very busy. When I called I was told that it was "not a problem" and that our table would be waiting for us. Upon arrival we found one of the owners (short/black hair woman) smoking outside with the only other server in the place at the time. After we were inside the proceeded to harass the males in our group. She refused to let one of the guys in our group what beers they had, she called someone a P&*y! after they decided to order the same type of wine his wife was drinking and the rest of us were unable to figure out what was being pour that night because no one had taken the time to write up what was available to pour that day. We all got one drink and observed as she proceeded to ignore most of the customers and take smoke breaks with the other server while customers sat around waiting for service. the overall impression from the group was the she did not care to keep us around...for whatever reason and was more interested in keeping her Friday night to herself. If that is the attitude a "new co-owner" has after only a few months, then I cannot anticipate this place being around for very long. What a shame! I will never recommend this place again! This is the place to be in Bakersfield! They have an extensive selection of wines for me and a great selection of craft beers for my boyfriend. We love their food... especially the flatbreads and steak tip crostini. The entertainment is always on point and the weekly tastings are so much fun! My boyfriend looks forward to the monthly beer tastings. The owners and their staff are always very attentive and so much fun to be around! When they don't have entertainment, they are always playing the best music (anywhere from 90's to reggae). Everything is always very clean and you can tell the owners take pride in this establishment. Thank you Garrett, Michele, and staff for making this the go to spot for the boyfriend and I. On 6-25-14 around 6pm a friend and I were in here to have some wine and appetizers. For almost 2 hours there were only 4 of us in there. The service from Henry sucked so bad. Unless you sat at the bar he never came over and talked to us or even check on us. When the phone would ring he would go out to the patio leaving the bar open with no one in there.Asking for water was like pulling teeth. When we went to pay the bill he took forever to bring us the check. We normally always split the bill but while talking he grabbed one of the debit cards that was sitting half way under a purse and went and ran it. Not one time did he ask if the card was to pay the bill. Also we have been in there around 6 times before and each time there has never been more than 4 people inside there.Poor service and with all the new wine bars we will be going some where else now. If there was a zero star I would rate this place a zero. I have emailed the email address they give and no answer back. Customer service sucks. read more

A very nice relaxed environment. The lighting is perfect, the decor makes you feel like you belong there no matter what side of town you hail from. The employees are relaxed and casual which only adds to the feeling of comfort. I've been to other wine bars and I immediately am turned off by the superimposed self importance conveyed not only by the staff members but also by the clientele. The neighborhood feel, and casual ambiance is greatly appreciated by this cowboy. And the woman who served me, Tahlia Fischer, is quite possibly the most beautiful woman I have ever had the pleasure to cast my eyes upon. I like the fact that even though they do not have a full kitchen, you can still enjoy breads, cheeses and other similar pairings with your choice of wine. The beer selection is stellar as well, and the prices are very reasonable. I also appreciate that you find wines and beers at WMU that you wouldn't find in other restaurants and bars. Adding to the feeling that it's a different kind of place for different kinds of people. I recommend Wine Me Up to anybody who wants a break from the uppity pretentiousness that other wine bars force upon you. I mean, just because you enjoy wine, does not mean you automatically enjoy Michael Buble and smooth jazz.. Not all wine drinkers are over 40. And I'm pretty sure the point of a good wine is so all people from all walks of life can enjoy it. I'd wager to say any vintner would agree with me.
