The service was very good and the food was excellent. We were seated right away and the server brought over water and took our order. All of the dishes we tried were hot and came out quickly. The steamed dumplings had a good amount of filling and were nicely seasoned. The house special noodle soup had chicken, beef, and veal(?) and the noodles still had nice texture, the broth was flavorful. We ate Crispy Beef, Chicken and Tofu and Moo Shu Veal. For kosher Chinese food this place is one of the best. It's consistent, delicious and offers every dish you'd typically find in the average Chinese restaurant (minus the pork and shrimp!). It is expensive but their Sunday buffet cannot be beat. You're paying extra for the price of eating kosher. So, if you don't require that limitation, there's plenty of good alternative options out there, more reasonable priced. Staff is friendly. The restaurant is bleak and could definitely use an upgrade. However, because it is exceptionally good for Kosher Chinese, I'll still rate it high! read more

Sometimes the food is good but I have come here most of my life and they have gone downhill and most of the time the food is not great and bland. They are the only kosher chinese restaurant in West Hempstead so they know they don't have to do better. read more

We ordered the miso soup, beef lo mein, and szechuan wontons. The beef lo mein was pretty good, but the wontons and miso soup were subpar at best. The absolute worst place! It was dirty! The high chairs that they gave me for my son to sit in were filthy - I had to wipe both of them down myself! The lady who came up to me and told me to remove my son's newly (just unwrapped at the table ) sippy cup was so rude! I wasn't given an opportunity to explain or show her that I just took it out of the packaging, however I get it, but what I don't get was how rude she was in speaking to me. Eat here quite frequently. Place is clean, Service is good, staff responsive to complaints except sometimes Amy can be snippy & nasty. Otherwise, food is tasty, generous portions, their sesame beef is awesome. The Sunday buffet is great and reasonably priced - except for parents letting their children run around & touch the food. More supervision or signs need to be put up to discourage this behavior. Overall, the food is really good. I recommend w/o hesitation. read more

The Shredded Spicy Chicken was drenched in an unappetizing brown sauce; the Orange Flavored Beef was similarly drenched, but in a sauce with an "off" taste. In no other Chinese restaurant have I ever encountered anything of the sort. The breaded, stir-fried chunks of beef (in the OFB) were days-old-stale, mushy, and most probably had never been crisp. The meat dumplings (appetizer) was oily, stale, with at least one bone particle embedded in the meat, and had a distinctly rancid taste. We felt swindled paying the bill, about $85 including tax and tip, but preferred not to complain. The complaints would have been time-consuming especially given the poor English and ostensibly low intelligence of the staff. OTOH, the sushi was good, and the hot-and-sour soup was good (with delicious chicken slices floating inside, and unusually spicy!) Wing Wan has been in operation for many years, 25 or more, and did (at one time) have a good reputation. However, not only would we never ever ever return, but I would leave any party catered by Wing Wan Chinese Kitchen rather than risk my health or that of my family. read more

My kosher friends took me here while I was visiting town. I've never been to a kosher restaurant before or even heard of chinese-kosher but Wing Wan was better than any other chinese restaurant I've ever been to (kosher or not...). Highly recommend the sushi and fried rice here! read more

For over 20 years, Wing Wan has been our go to restaurant for family parties and occasions. They catered my parents 50th anniversary parry on a boat out of Freeport. We had my mother's 80th birthday in their party room ( they let me decorate the entire room), we've had other family gatherings there and today we had my MIL 80th birthday party there. They do a wonderful job every time. Amy is so easy to work with, my husband just told her how many people and left the menu up to her. There were so many choices and so much food. All the food is incredible. They packed the leftovers for us and we will be eating well for a long time. I said to my husband that the best part besides the great food is how they make us feel like we are family. read more

Invest in a second cash register and 1 person should do the take out orders. 25 min actually meant an hour. No names are taken everyone is a number. I commend the restaurant owners for such a vast menu that is also kosher. Guy behind counter finally acknowledged me and told me to "just sit." The bowl of crunchy noodles with duck sauce was a mess. The noodles were all crushed and greasy. I should have left then but I persevered. The wonton soup was lukewarm and uninteresting. Ordered the chicken egg foo young. It was terrible. The two patties were bland. Fried rice was barely warm. So, if you aren't either someone who keeps Kosher or someone eating with someone who keeps Kosher, you should keep looking for a place to fulfill your Chinese food needs. Growing up with a Kosher-keeping mom and sister, but not being Kosher myself, I can confidently say that Wing Wan's food is perfectly acceptable, but just isn't going to measure up to the best of the non-Kosher options out there. The moment we walked in and saw that he cashier / waiter was wearing totally filthy clothing I should have known to just turn around and go out. Ordered the hot and sour soup it was like a bowl of mucus. The texture was so off putting. The chicken in garlic sauce was also coated in slime. It's just a shame. Kosher Chinese dining in the middle of West Hempstead. I've been eating at Wing Wan and carrying out for 15+ years now. Decent food, good service. Not elegant, but acceptable. They also have a downstairs that they use for parties and such, and a Sunday all you can eat deal. And they have sushi that is pretty good. read more

Was very upset that the place was closed Saturday night even though the website said it would be open half an hour after Shabbat ended. There was no message on their site that it would be closed, and no message on their phone (which we assumed they weren't answering because they were busy). On Christmas day fulfilled the Jewish tradition and ordered kosher food from Wing wan. The wait was very long (but that was expected on such a busy day). I've been eating at Wing Wan for 15 years. Its always a treat. I usually order and pick up. Its fresh and we like the taste and style. I like the chicken dishes, my husband, who is vegetarian likes their tofu dishes, and my pickiest just orders hamburgers and fries..which incredibly are also grilled just right and great. I also use them to large cater work place events where their performance has to compete with non-kosher caterers--and they win--They are extremely reliable--having shown up even in the midst of the great northeast power black out many years ago! They set up everything, bring everything you need, from papergoods to drinks and deserts, and the portions of their dishes are very generous. Amy is very good at helping design good menus within budgets.
