There are no tables in this place, it's takeout only. For this reason everybody parks up front and waits in the car. Waiting will be 30-40min unless you called ahead. And yeah, it's very crowded all the time, especially around noon. And it's cash only. That's basically all the cons I can tell you about this place. Other than that, it's heaven. Now let's talk about the burgers. Meat Madness Monstrosity pretty much sums it up. They're huge, they're delightful, they don't cost too much (9$ for a real big one), you will have food for the whole day. This is perfect after a workout to get up your protein. When I first moved to Dallas people raved that I had to get here. I went and actually enjoyed it. I live on the far north side so it's not something that I enjoy often. I stopped today coming from an event and I have to say it's not nearly as special as I remember. The burgers are big but I got everything on the burger that I did not want which it was soggy when I got home. The burger was also broken into pieces so it was very messy to eat. I ate it with a knife and fork. I would absolutely never get the fries again. I had a large piece that I could not break through and when I took it out and examined it I don't know what made me smell it but whatever that was that was fried was rotten. The balance of the fries smell fine but that one particular piece was absolutely rotten. It honestly grossed me out to the point that I'm not interested in the rest of the burger. So I went here a few weeks ago based on my coworkers recommendation. He and his wife told me that the burgers were huge and that it is hard to finish a burger by yourself. He and his wife always get the triple and split it. Before making a decision to actually make a trip to Wingfields, I went to Yelp to review and research more about the burgers. I called my order in about ten minutes before my arrival. Depending on the time of day, your wait time can be twenty minutes or more. I ordered a single cheeseburger plain with only mayo. I told the young lady on the phone that I had a long drive home so she said she can put my veggies on the side. When I walked in there was another customer waiting for her order and we chatted for a minute. This was her first time too so we both waited patiently for our food. I paid for my food and left but noticed on my receipt that I was charged $1.00 to have my veggies placed on the side. It would have been nice if they tell you this when placing your order. When I arrived home I opened the container of veggies and threw them away. I heated my burger in the microwave and ate it plain. The burger was huge and very good. The meat was seasoned well. No complaints. I thought everyone was joking about the size of their burgers. There is no way to finish it in one setting. I didn't order fries because I knew the burger would be enough. I had high hopes for this place after my boss raved about how it has the "best burgers in town" and took our entire team out here for lunch. But I was ultimately disappointed with my burger. It took us a while to receive our orders since we had 10 people and the place was a tiny shack (take-out only) with minimal employees. Once I received my "single" burger, it probably weighed a pound - not even exaggerating! However, as I was munching on my burger, parts of it was COLD. Yuck! But for those who enjoy a tasty burger, and some intriguing atmosphere, Wingfield's is a good place to get your fix. I got the single with bacon and fries. Overall the flavor was good and the toppings made it more than a mouthful. I can't entirely imagine the double or even triple, but that would be an epic challenge. Tips for ordering: There is only one truly viable tip for ordering, and that is to do it over the phone before you get there. The wait time can be pretty long otherwise. This place from my childhood is still doing things right. These enormous burgers are seasoned well and flavorful. I had the Single Bacon Cheeseburger. This may sound like an ordinary burger and you may think of attempting a double or triple, but BEWARE, the patties and bacon are larger( their single patty could be a double or triple at a different restaurant). Their bacon is thick cut and a great compliment to the burger. This restaurant was featured on Texas Bucket List and those in the know always call their order in as the shop has room for no more than 3-4 people to wait inside(pre-COVID). If you think you have had the best burger in DFW and you have not been here, then you need to take the trip and re-evaluate. Their take on the classic burger is exactly what makes this place amazing. I'm a big guy and I could barely eat the thing--I didn't even finish my fries (which were crinkly and crispy and fluffy). Definitely call your order in ahead of time. Don't be scared that you haven't seen the menu. It's simple. Get a cheeseburger (in my case bacon cheeseburger). That's it. Be prepared to eat in your car (tricky with such a messy burger) or haul it back to wherever you came from. - The neighborhood can be a little iffy - similar to driving to the State Fair. Since they are very reasonably priced and they have a single, double and triple on the menu, I assumed they were small patties. That couldn't be further from the truth. A single will fill you up. 90% of people would have a lot of trouble finishing a double- I ordered a double that must've weighed 5 pounds. I didn't even come close to finishing it. The bacon cheeseburger was as big as other reviews say (its diameter was about an inch longer than a pen); it was merely okay even though all the parts, except the burger, were very good. The bacon was thick cut and had good flavor. The tomato, onions and lettuce were tasty. The bun was unsurprisingly unable to hold up to that much burger, bacon and veggies between it, which is to be expected. The monstrous burger was cooked well done and had a bland flavorlessness to it that overpowered the rest of the burger. Even if the burger had met expectations, I don't see how anyone could eat a double or triple burger; they really are large burgers! As I said at the top, I would like to come back for the rings again, but I will go for the BLT instead of the burger. It's like this. When I am sitting around and the thought "Hmm...I need to eat" comes up, and then the second thought is "hmm...what should I eat?", when the third thought and answer to the second thought is "hamburgers", Wingfields always comes to mind. I don't think about in and out, I don't think about mcdonalds, or wolf burger in pasadena CA. I don't think about a burger from a sit down fast food joint like Fridays or Fudruckers. I don't consider the oinkster or stout (more CA food). I don't ponder on what to get at wendys, sonic, the habit, or a crap burger from a taco joint. Places like Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen, Twisted Root, and Meddlesome Moth although good in their own rights...don't come to mind. When I think burger, I think Wingfields. It's not meant to be fufu, it's not meant to be pretty, it's not meant to appeal to the superficial. It's meant to be a damn good all american burger with solid value that will fill you up for two days. I have never experienced bad customer service at wingfields, but then again I generally treat people with respect, especially people making my food. Sorry Yelpers, I'm just not seeing what's so special about this place. It was a decent burger but really nothing special. I guess my issues with this place come down to the meat. Even from the photos listed here it is easy to see that what you get is a fat, over-sized burger that is definitely well-done to overcooked, without the slightest ounce of pink. Maybe it is simply my fault for not asking for it to be cooked to order but they never asked so I just took it like it came. A little pink can go a long way, IMO. I like to see my meat weeping burger juice, ever so slightly, when bitten into. Wingfield's was dry and gray with about as much weeping as a robot who just won the lottery. The meat was fairly well seasoned, the veggies were fresh, and of course, it is LARGE but nothing really stood out to me. Also, if you get the fries, grab some packets of salt cuz they are screaming for it. Wingfield's is an endearing establishment. Small and quaint, the kinda place you usually gotta make a special trip to get to. We headed to Wingfield's on a Wednesday around 11:45 am- While we did not call ahead due to a busy morning, we were not in a rush, so we didn't mind the "people watching" while we waited for our food. Wingfield's is small- barely enough room to stand, so plan on eating in your car or taking it home if you live close. Also, bring yo $Cash$ (no debit cards)! Yes, people will block you in (at one point, we were blocked in 2 cars deep) during the busy lunch hour, but everyone was ready to move, if need be. Things are slooow moving here, so just sit back & relax. It took about 30 minutes for our burgers to come up (they had some serious call-ahead orders on the grill when we arrived), but the staff & patrons were all friendly. Everyone had Big-Ass Burgers on the brain! Upon arrival of our single burgers, onion rings to split & lemonade, we knew we were in for it when our bag felt like it weighed about 10 pounds. We then proceeded to chow down in our car. The burger was strangely satisfying. It was HUGE- however, my husband did manage to finish his! I ate about 2/3 of mine, however I probably could have kept going as it was really delicious. And I believe the burgers were around $4- what a great value! Warning: These things are messy, so I would suggest that you hold your burger w/ the bag as there will be DRIPPAGE! And its worth it! The best burger ever? Still up for debate.
