Being a SoCal transplant, i'm always looking for that Charbroiled ol fashioned Burger stand with options like pastrami, bacon, eggs and chili but I digress. What I found at Wingfield's was a top notch Burger nicely seasoned while cooked on a flat top, These things are Massive ~ I'm a big boy and the double scares me !! First, let me explain my burger preferences: I like beautifully seasoned, artfully grilled (not griddled) burgers with impeccable ingredients. I've found love-worthy burgers at low-key places, wait-for-it-out-in-the-cold places, upscale places, and seriously-you-guys-have-a-burger? places. Wingfield's plays to the low-key end of the spectrum. With all the hype, I was pretty excited, but they just couldn't deliver. The burger was well griddled but otherwise boring and excessively oily. Everything else (of the standard Americana fixings) was immediately forgettable. In the end, there just wasn't anything to love. In fact, I'd compare it to Chapps, and that's not saying much. For a better burger in Dallas, consider Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen (Americana style), Twisted Root (all over the map), and Meddlesome Moth (upscale). (This is *not* an extensive list! Ordered from this place at the recommendation of a potential date and my coworkers. Ordered a double meat cheeseburger and a lemonade. Called my order in over the phone before I went, was quoted 15 minutes and an order number and made it do wht it do. PARKING is a MOMOFUKU. That place is small. It's a tiny joint between some car places on Beckley. I had to park on a side street because the parking in front of the place was already occupied and too tight. When you step inside, you're literally RIGHT at the counter. LOL Technically, you open the door, step up a step and you're at the counter. You don't have room to shuck, jive or get comfortable, just get ya order and ROLL OUT. Cashier was very sweet and respectful. My pick up was pretty in and out. Nothing to write home about. Before I laid eyes on my burger I knew it was greasy. The white lunch bag that it was in was leaking of grease and would have torn open if I didn't hold it at the bottom. OK so I've totally fallen off the Burger wagon the last few years and have been all about "no red meat", only Turkey burgers. But I suddenly thought I'd try a regular Burger and distinctly remembered that Wingfields use to be a place my friends liked to go. So I venture to the side of town and pull up to the tiny place with standing room only and order my cheeseburger well done. (Regardless of the tenderness of a medium well, I don't want my cow mooing at ALL when I take a bite) After about 20 min of waiting, I received my burger and fries and proceed to take it back to my truck where the smell of my sandwich was taking over. I attempt to take a bite and realize that the burger to mouth ratio was a little off. The meat is just too thick for my preference. It's really a BIG Burger. The bun was toasted and yummy but I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. The fries were average but one does not come for the sides... Its so close to 5 star, i wish i could give it 4.5. Freakin wondeful. I cant stand everyone saying that the service was awful, WTF do you expect. My fiancé loves burgers. And when I say loves burgers, I mean, drive to the southside of Dallas to try a random hole in the wall place that he heard about from his co-workers, loves hamburgers. I wasn't ready for the Wingfield's experience but I actually enjoyed it. It's definitely a little mom and pop shop that has grown by word-of-mouth about it's notoriously huge hamburgers. Don't expect a place where you can come in and sit down and enjoy your hamburger (because trust me, you're going to need SPACE to tackle this big boy), Wingfield's is as big as my kitchen. If more than three people are in there, you're sweating because it's hot and you're rubbing shoulders with the next person lol. It's definitely a grab and go, call your order in and pick it up type of place (we didn't call in this time because we didn't know what kind of menu was offered). On to the burger - It was literally as big as my face. Like, when I opened my mouth to bite it, my jaw popped out of place (it didn't), but it could have. But it was good ya'll. The meat was big and juicy...and the bacon. Ohhhh the bacon. It was real, thick and crispy. *holds hands up in praise* yeeeesssssssss. I couldn't finish the whole thing. I see these great and affirmative comments, really this is the reason I went today and just now finished half of the huge burger with onion rings, however, I did not find it to be that great nor that tasty at all... My cheese burger was cold and the meat was dry and the cheese was not even melted; the moistest thing about the burger was the bun after being soaked by the, I have to assume lettuce and tomatoes... Even my onion rings were cold...!!! As I normally do when I order burgers from other establishments, I requested the bun to be toasted inside and out to try to avoid this soggy bun problem, however, the young lady that took my order was not a great listener...!!! Wingfield's has some of the best burgers around. Yet the staff has changed a bit and the people that are flipping those burgers now just do not have the deft touch as the ones that they replaced. The burgers have all of the necessary elements present to make the best burger in the world. But they now miss the mark with how they toast the bun and maybe miss a Sprinkle of salt that makes all the difference. Even so, it's still better than 98% of the burgers out there. read more

HUGGGEEE burgers! I think I could've made 2 meals out of the normal single patty burger, but being a Wingfield-noob I got a double pattied one with fries. That meal lasted me the whole day. The burger was really juicy/greasy and overall hit the spot. The fries taste like they were cooked in bacon grease. Is that a good thing? Could be, depends on whether you like bacony fries (duh.) Parking is horribly inefficient due to the small lot and the inevitable blocking in of other cars due to the way the lot is set up. There is no seating, so it's more of a grab it and eat in your car place, although due to the parking situation I wouldn't recommend eating in the lot. read more

This burger was not what it is hyped up to be. It's just not bland & big. It doesn't have some great unique flavor but it doesn't taste like paper either. I'm not much of a beef eater and being that this was my first time here, I didn't realize how big it was. I got two bacon cheeseburgers for my husband & I. I only ate about two and a half bites of mine. My husband ate majority of his but wasn't crazy about it. I rated Wingfields 3 stars because 1.) The place is LITERALLY a hole in the wall. It's a kitchen and a counter. It's standing room only with a minimum 15 minute wait, for call in orders. 30 minutes minimum for ordering there. 2.) Again, the taste was just okay. 3.) They use nasty processed "cheese" product. Please spend a bit more for REAL cheese! 4.) The toppings made our burgers soggy by the time I got home. Perhaps consider putting the fixings in a small side container. In my opinion, the hype is all because of the size. As the saying goes, everything's bigger in Texas. We LOVE big things, CLEARLY! Do not over look this hidden gem. I did for several years. I was getting my car fixed at the shop next to it, didn't feel like waiting to eat. I'm glad I didn't. I didn't know anyone who'd been there before. So I didn't know what to expect I'm glad I went. It's a hole in the wall but could easily be on the food network as a must visit while in Dallas. The patty is super thick, bun toasted, and the thickest bacon I've ever eaten anywhere. I've been back several times since and I'm never disappointed. The burgers are cooked fresh so expect to wait a while, but it's well worth it. Once you receive your first burger you'll understand why it took so long. read more

I was on the hunt for a good burger. Somehow all our researching led us to this little hole in the wall. Let's start off with the location... This place is in the cuts! Hidden diamond in the rough, I would say. There are bars up on the windows and doors which made me suspicious about how safe the neighborhood was... Parking lot was severely limited. We ordered about 3 burgers and they were MASSIVE. You can not sit in and dine at this place, it is to-go only. When we finally found a place to eat (nearby McDonalds hehe), we dived into our colossal burgers. My burger was beautifully seasoned and juicy, but I could feel the oil seep through the patty and bun. Had food coma afterward and couldn't walk for a few minutes. Hhaha. I've decided to roam all food joints in the southern triangle of Dallas. I'm a newbie, so I don't even know what that would be called except "south Dallas"/Cedar Crest. So here I am, getting the breakfast part of the breakfast and burgers after a two day migraine. I am starving. This is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. I measured it once and I think it was 4 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall! Fries are so good! I think they fry it in hamburger grease (if that's even possible.) You'd think for a fully loaded burger and cheese it'd be at least 10 bucks. Nope. It ends up being about 6 bucks. Downsides: 1. On my first visit, my brother from another mother and I came from Far North Dallas/Carrollton to place our order in person. We waited for about 15 minutes for our order to be ready. I made sure to get the phone number for future visits. Also, parking is not decent. You have to park either behind or in front of someone. If you parked in front of someone, you will have to wait until the person behind you leaves. Therefore, park behind someone if you plan to get your order and leave. The burger patties are super thick. Therefore, you only need ONE patty. If you get two patties, may God bless you! I like bacon on my cheeseburger and you have to put mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise on it, too. I don't care for the veggies on it. BEWARE: The bag may become greasy so make sure you put a napkin or something underneath it when you lay it down in your car, table, etc. Either way, that grease will remind of of how tasteful the burger is.
