I'll be honest, if great or even just pretty good service is an obligate factor for you, I wouldn't come here. Unless you really, really enjoy charcoal grilled meats seasoned generously and always served hot, in which case do what I do and work around it. This is another classic hole in the wall down to their unique "Moroccan-Style" seating area where you can literally lay back and enjoy your meal. So yeah, the service isn't great. It's not a matter of inhospitality or rudeness, the owners are the staff, and they're also a couple well into their years. Get ready to only order in person, repeat your order details before you pay and then make sure they know whether you'll be dining in or taking out for sure. It's the extra mile, but you'll see why I think it's worth it. Surprise surprise, it's their food. They promise traditional Afghan cooking and on that they deliver. Thick, skewered meat cooked slowly over the fire until it's smokey yet inexplicably juicy, even on their off days they're still pretty good. One of my favorite items is actually their chicken wings, which also get their grill treatment, as well as a healthy portion of sauce and seasoning. Their adornments of salads and sauces are always fresh, so it's clear that they care a lot about what goes out the little window. I had never eaten Afghanistan food but was invited by a friend. I was apprehensive indeed but determined to stay open minded. He ordered for the two of us. lamb kabob and kabuki puloa (Essentially, rice, lamb, carrots, raisins, and nuts). We also ordered hot tea. we chose to sit at traditional table and waited no more than 10 minutes for our food to arrive. The rice and lamb dish was big enough to feed two or three people and then they served out kebabs. I was embarrassed by how much food was on the table! My friend showed me how to use the naan (bread) to remove the lamb from the skewer. It was heaven. The bread was soft and warm and just spongy enough to soak up any juice dripping from the lamb. I ate far more than my share (6 each, I had 7 of them). The meat was so tender, a bit salty on its own, but muted when eaten with the bread. I could eat this for lunch every day. He brought us a chapli to taste, and we were not disappointed. I am a foodie, a picky person when it comes to authenticity, flavors, and taste. Chapli kabab comes in 2-patties (kebabs) with onion garnish, green chilli+mint chutney, and a 16" naan. A bite of that naan with kebab and inions with a dip in chutney took me back through the history of great afghans and pakhtoons. I don't know when was the last time you ate something in America that was so authentic that you almost lost your breath and had your childhood memories dancing right in front of you again. That first bite of chapli was just that much magical. You have to eat it to believe it. Wings were decent sized, not the embarrassing tiny nugget we are so used to of seeing. They were juicy but not oily, had a great flavor. Kids loved the original ones, which were not spicy but very flavorful. We also loved the tandoori version. The owner also serves Kabuli rice on Sat and Sunday. I plan to visit and check those too. But just their chapli itself is good enough for me to die a happy person. The restaurant is run by a gentleman who is from Afghanistan and offer food with flavors associated with North India/Pakistan. The menu is limited but offers good choices. Since it was the first time, I got Chicken Kabab that comes with fresh salad, rice, half a naan and yogurt sauce. The portions are generous, and the quality of the food is good. The rice is very flavorful and the salad is fresh. I can do without the shredded red cabbage, but that is a personal preference. The kababs are cooked on order and I was told that it would take 15 odd minutes. I went to the food store next door and came back after 15 minutes and it still took about 5 minutes for the order to be ready. Am I complaining? Not at all, the business does not rush things and gives quality food. The interiors are bright, clean and modern. I will recommend this place to anyone who likes kababs and looking for a complete wholesome meal. $10 with taxes for 10+ pieces of chicken kababs, rice, salad and half a naan is a steal deal! read more

I wanted mantoo as well but they didn't have it. Food took about 25 minutes to make. The food overall was good. The chapli kabob tasted more like a shami kabob but was still very tasty.
