I mean, chicken is chicken, right? But the moment I casually picked up a piece of boneless chicken and took a bite, a little alarm went off in my head. "Wait a minute... what is this chicken?" It was completely different from any boneless fried chicken I had ever eaten before. The outside was perfectly crispy, while the meat inside was unbelievably soft, tender, and juicy. Boneless chicken can sometimes be dry, tough, or overly greasy, but Chicken Day's boneless chicken had the perfect balance. Crispy and crunchy on the outside! Soft, moist, and tender on the inside! After one bite, I could not tell whether I had come to a swimming pool party or a private fried chicken tasting event. I was supposed to be watching the kids play, but somehow, my eyes kept drifting back toward the chicken box. And that is not even the end of the story. There is one thing at Chicken Day that you absolutely cannot ignore. Their house sauce. This sauce is seriously dangerous. At first glance, it looks a little like Korean sweet and spicy fried chicken sauce, but once you taste it, it is definitely different. It is sweet, slightly tangy, savory, and somehow makes you want to keep dipping piece after piece. Honestly, this sauce is so difficult to explain. The more I try to describe it, the more confused I become. It tastes a little like Korean seasoned chicken sauce, but somehow better. It tastes familiar, yet completely special. You dip one piece lightly, and by the next piece, you are completely covering the chicken in sauce. There is really only one conclusion. You simply have to try it for yourself. The moment you taste it, you will understand why I gave up trying to explain it. It is one of those flavors that your tongue understands before your brain can find the right words. When you dip the crispy boneless chicken into that house sauce and take a bite, it feels like a small festival is happening inside your mouth. You tell yourself that you are only going to eat one piece, but suddenly you have eaten two, then three, and before you know it, you are quietly watching everyone around you to make sure nobody takes the last piece. I discovered Chicken Day by chance at a swimming pool party, but ever since that day, I have continued thinking about the soft chicken, the crispy coating, and that unforgettable house sauce. And now, while writing this review, I want it again. This is becoming a serious problem. The more I write about this chicken, the more my mouth seems ready to leave the house and head directly to Chicken Day. I guess there is no need to think about dinner tonight. I am going back to Chicken Day to buy more chicken! Perfectly crispy boneless chicken with incredibly tender and juicy meat inside, paired with a house sauce that is almost impossible to describe but absolutely impossible to forget. If you have not tried Chicken Day yet, you really should. But be careful. Front of house staff were very sincere and polite and came by to ask how everything was tasting + offering sample of their bbq :) Restaurant is a little hot inside so it's a good idea to order a drink with the food, their lemonade is worth complimenting with the meal to finish off all the flavours! They have $3 cash parking in the structure on New Hampshire, which is already a huge win in Koreatown. Inside, it's a fun sports-bar vibe with big TVs, comfortable booths, service buttons at every table, and even seat cushions by the entrance if you want a little extra comfort. We ordered the 12-piece chicken with Original and Garlic Soy, large seasoned fries, steamed rice with soy sauce, pickled radishes, and cabbage salad. Everything was delicious. The cabbage salad could use just a touch more dressing, but that chicken? Crispy, juicy, generously sized, and finger-licking good! Julia was wonderful, everything was clean, and our entire meal was under $40. We even thanked the cook on our way out--he and Julia both sent us off with huge smiles and welcomed us back. They also have pork cutlets, mozzarella sticks, and plenty of other bites. This isn't Korean BBQ--it's Korean fried chicken done right.
