Really good 치킨! The server we had (I think it was the owner) was really attentive. This was my 3rd time there and the food and service always stood out. We always get the Bulgogi Fries (Fries with Cheese, Spicy Mayo, Jalapenos, a creamy salsa, onions, and LOTS of sweet bulgogi), and the Honey Garlic Wings. Also definitely recommend the original marinade or even plain (anything but boring). Seating is plentiful. Lunchtime is never too busy, which really surprised me. I love that they give us gloves. I'm adjusting my review, because I don't feel I was being fair. Driving thru downtown while HANGRY is not a recommendation. This is also no dig on the quality of their chicken. I've eaten from there before. It's well cooked, juicy, with a good crunch, and light flavor. If you're gluten-free, like myself, you can only have two different sauces, and of course you have to pay for those separate. Not a fault, just an observation. Having any Sauce at all, is awesome... My complaint and withholding of a star is that The Only individual sized portions you can get is a chicken sandwich (I'm one of those dreaded * duh..duh..dunnnnn,* "Gluten-Free" peeps. After that the next size is half a chicken (to much for me to eat in a sitting.) and it Doesn't come with any sauces or sides. I'm not saying that's it's a bad price, for the amount and quality... To add insult to a sour moment, I had to pay for parking... for only 3 to 4 minutes. While not truly a fault of the restaurant, it is a part of the experience, and should be noted. When I think about rice chicken, I think about chicken on top of rice. I don't wanna eat that! But my friend influenced me to come here with him, so I did and I was pleasantly surprised. First, we got a chicken sandwich with their signature sauce. It was only $8.99!!! And it was SOOO good. I would come back just for that. Then we got some chicken wings. 10 of them. They only let you choose one flavor which kinda sucks but whatever. We got yangmani or something as a flavor and I don't know why I never heard of that flavor before, but I personally don't like it because it has ketchup in it and I don't like ketchup. My friend absolutely loved the flavor though! Regardless, the chicken was cooked perfectly and was really what you would want in a chicken wing. I'll try another flavor I'll probably like, such as their soy garlic or something, but my friend wanted to try this flavor so we did. If it had no sauce or a garlic soy, I think I would've really enjoyed it a lot. Then we got a tornado potato, which tasted exactly like what it is. After eating, I looked on the wall at their LA Times article they had up. They had the woman who carried on Jonathan Gold's legacy, Jenn Harris, writing about how amazing their chicken is! It really is amazing. I trust Jenn's food recommendations. And I tasted that chicken sandwich. So I know this is the spot to go to. Surprisingly, it's kinda empty in there. They have tons of different combos and drink specials. I ordered a 10 piece bone in wing in their cheesy tiger to try for ~$20. Unfortunately, the wings left much to be desired. They were on the smaller end, were crispy but were under seasoned and I couldn't taste the cheese flavor at all :(. When I tried to communicate this to the owner and asked for more seasoning, she said no. Personally, I've had better experiences at other kfc spots in la but this is a decent spot for a cheap meals since they have dishes for under $9. Although I wish the cheese was a little more melted, it was absolutely amazing. The coleslaw and pickles complemented it perfectly. The fries were also crispy and steaming hot. I know there's a ton of chicken places all throughout Ktown but I truly believe this place had the best crunch out of them all. Don't let the construction around the plaza deter you from going. It had a baseline spice so you can choose mild or spicy. The rice flour they coat the chicken with allows the skin to be so crunchy and crispy while the chicken inside is so moist and juicy. The soy garlic, although tossed in sauce, remains crispy and is perfectly salty/sweet. The mu (white radish cubes) are free on the side, but you need to pay $1.50 for more.
