Bonchon, you offered $1 wing special, don't cut the amount of fries I paid full price for! Service was mostly self service, self-order via kiosk, water refill station, think cafeteria style where you get handed your food on a tray and you do the rest. The staff member who checked in on me while I was ordering on the kiosk was polite. The restaurant was pretty quiet during dinner time, just one other dine-in table and a couple of takeout orders while I was there. Overall, a mediocre visit. I've passed by and seen this place for the last 15-odd years but this my first try. There's not much ambiance. But the place is clean, well-lit, and there was some smooth jazz coming out of the speakers. There are about 6 tables inside. I ordered the fish sampler platter with mashed potatoes and gravy, and mac and cheese. I also ordered three jumbo chicken wings. The sampler platter came with three breaded and fried fillets. According to the menu, they were whiting, trout and "catfish (swai)". I couldn't definitively tell which was which, but I think the whiting and trout were the thinnest. One of those, perhaps the whiting, had a distinct fishy taste. What I assume to be the swai was thicker and quite mild and tasty. The batter on all three was crispy and had a bit of salt in it. I did find about three pin bones across all the pieces, so be careful. A note on swai: this is an Asian species completely different than any real catfish species. There is an FDA law that says it cannot be labeled as catfish. This is why I believe it's listed the way it is on the menu. Read up on swai and make your own determination. For me, it's tasty, and I'll probably return to Dave's in the future to get an order of just that. The fish came with a small container of tartar sauce. The mac and cheese was average. It's possibly from a box, but still good. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. Also possibly from a box. But, combined with the gravy (probably from a packet mix), it brought back to me fond memories of 1980s elementary school lunches. Those mashed potatoes and gravy were the bestest! (Pizza slices sucked, but pizza boats were great; hamburgers sucked, but Salisbury steak was great.) The jumbo chicken wings were huge! Each one is the uncut whole wing -- tip, flat, and drumette. So an order of three is like ordering six regular "wings". They included a small container of their special mombo sauce, and an even smaller container of hot sauce which was very close in flavor to Crystal hot sauce. The mombo sauce was fine. It was slightly sweet, slightly spicy, but not really mouth-poppingly fantastic. The wings were super crispy and meltingly hot -- so much so that the takeout container was a bit melted and warped in some spots. No one said this was healthy. But was it good? Yeah, it was good. Eat here when your better half (and likely better eater) is out of town. Also, call your order in ahead if you can because it took a good 15 minutes to prepare.

Waited for 10-15 mins for made to order chicken sanwiches and nuggets with ranch. I've been wanted to try the famed Wingstop Ranch per Rhett & Link from Good Mythical Morning. The staff was polite as we go our to go order. They use papar bags to put the food in to go which is environmentally more friendly. We opened the bag in the car and the smell of freshly fried chicken lofted throughout. The chicken nuggets were hot fresh with a crispy coating and moist and juicy inside. The ranch is definitely a "10" and as advertised. The chicken sandwiches were good as well but needed more flavor. My son thought the hot honey rub could have been spicier but the ranch helped it. He said its on par with Chick-fil-a's chicken sandwich but not as good as #1 Popeye's. Overall, a very good experience and that ranch is like crack, addictive. A little watery than thick but still Elite dipping sauce. Maybe better than Chick-fil-a sauce. But not as good as Sals Birdland Sassy Sauce (hot mustard) out of Central NY. 4/5
