At first, I thought I was overreacting--until I noticed not one, but two thermostats behind the counter reading 88 and 89 degrees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked an employee if the AC was broken, and they said no--it simply wasn't turned on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What's more concerning is that there was no manager on-site, according to staff, and it seems employees may not have the authority to create a safe and comfortable environment for themselves. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As a customer, this was uncomfortable. But as a human being, it was upsetting to see people working in such extreme indoor temperatures.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Under California labor laws, employers are required to provide a workplace that is safe and healthful. While indoor heat isn't as heavily regulated as outdoor heat, employers still have a responsibility under Cal/OSHA's General Duty Clause to prevent heat illness--including in indoor settings. Franchise owners should take better care of their teams. No one should be working in an environment approaching 90 degrees without proper ventilation or relief. You can taste when someone makes food with love vs frustration. Compared to the green river location come here.
