My food was raw, pink on the inside I almost died. The fries were trash. Ranch made me puke. My coke was good tho.

We had a 16-piece meal that came with 8 biscuits, and 3 large sides (cole slaw, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy). This was my first time eating here and I was rather impressed with the clean store, fast and efficient service and the accuracy of our order. Our wait was rather entertaining as well. You can tell that this is a popular spot with the locals. There were lots of "hi there" and "hellos" as well as some additional shenanigans. The place felt familiar in a very welcoming way. As previously stated, it was Father's Day, so many folks were dressed in their Sunday's best, but others were very casual. This is a pick-up only restaurant and there isn't a place to eat inside, but there was a small bench available for those waiting on their orders. It was busy, with a diverse clientele, but the staff worked diligently to get everyone in and out quickly. The food was delicious. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. The mac and cheese was creamy and the coleslaw had a nice bite to it. I wonder if the recipe includes horseradish. Everything felt reminiscent of KFC, but better...fresher. We'll definitely be back in the future.

Since our hotel " hot breakfast" was a complete joke, we are back here for breakfast. Awesome again. You stop in Danville, hungry, stop at Gilbert's street cafe.

We were taken to a booth and the seats and table were wet from the quick wipe it had just been given. It wasn't just wet, there were also lots of crumbs that had been left behind. As I looked around, I noticed that the floors were littered with trash and food also. Straw wrappers, napkins and bits of food were present under each and every table. I understand that during a busy rush, the staff probably can't take the time to sweep, but even after the rush nobody bothered to address it. There was a gentleman bussing tables who stayed "on patrol", though. He circled the dining room at regular intervals and made sure that dishes were cleared in a timely manner. I see you, sir! We were greeted right away and our drink orders were taken. That young lady was very kind and upbeat, which was quite welcoming. When she returned with our beverages, she offered to take our orders, but we weren't ready. And just like that, she ditched us! J/K, but kind of for real. A different waitress appeared and took over from there. She was efficient and took good care of us, but in a way, she wasn't as warm. She was no-nonsense and straight to the point. Our food was decent. My husband had The Special, which is a basic breakfast plate (eggs, French toast and bacon), I had the turkey club with fries, and my in-laws both had phily steak sandwiches with fries. The food didn't come out super fast, but that gave us time to settle-in and not feel rushed. It was quite nice and a change from what my husband and I are accustomed to where we live. We had a leisurely meal and caught up with old friends who wandered in and out during our meal. That was another clear sign that this place is a local favorite.
