Grand Lux Cafe -- Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas Apparently, once wasn't enough... so we went back. When you're in Las Vegas, there are about a million places trying to convince you that their food is worth your money. Well, Grand Lux Cafe inside the Venetian didn't just convince us once -- we ate here TWICE during our trip! And honestly, that should tell you something. Our first visit was for happy hour, and that's where we met Kimberly, our server. She was super friendly, knew the menu, and made some great recommendations. We decided on the chicken lettuce wraps and the Asian nachos. Kimberly told us the Asian nachos were her favorite thing on the menu. Kimberly... you were absolutely right. These weren't your average nachos. They were HUGE, loaded, delicious, and somehow disappeared much faster than I'd like to admit. I'm a former chef, so I tend to pay attention to food, and these are nachos I won't soon forget. I'll probably be talking about them for a long time. The lettuce wraps were really good too, but those Asian nachos completely stole the show. And here's the part that makes happy hour even better: the happy hour items were $12.95. In Las Vegas, where your wallet can disappear faster than your dignity at a blackjack table, that's a pretty darn good deal. Then came visit number two. After seeing a show at the Sphere, we were hungry and decided, Why not go back to Grand Lux? This time I went with the classic club sandwich, which came with fries. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich, also with fries, and that thing was HUGE. Seriously, Vegas-sized without the Vegas-sized price tag. Jennifer was our server this time, and once again, the service was excellent. Between the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the consistency from one visit to the next, Grand Lux Cafe easily became one of the standout food experiences of our Vegas trip. Actually, I'll go one step further... This could easily have been our favorite food of the entire trip. And that's saying something because we ate VERY well in Vegas. So if I'm ever back at the Venetian, I already know where my first food stop is going to be. Grand Lux Cafe. And yes, Kimberly... I'm ordering the Asian nachos again. Five stars, no hesitation. This was a cool little spot located at the casino level in the Venetian. Took a little while to find it because I was searching around the canal shoppes but once we went down to the casino it showed itself. It's a dimly lit intimate spot with a very friendly staff and a very diverse menu. If you have a hard time finding something here; then you either not hungry, or you just don't eat food. Place was so nice we came here twice. We came here on a Sunday for lunch shortly after leaving the airport. We were starving so the fact that it was huge and seated us immediately was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. We sat down and I ordered a soda. My husband ordered a bloody Mary, which ended up being delicious. I'm a huge celery in a bloody Mary fan, so was grateful to have that added bonus. The ambiance is definitely like a cheesecake factory. The lights were even the same and the ambiance was as well. The server was kind and quick to take our order as we probably looked starving. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. I ended up trying a small bite, but his hands were definitely full with how huge the portions were. I ordered the chicken avocado melt and it was absolutely delicious. I either was completely starved or it was delicious. Nonetheless, I almost wish I had ordered it my second time there in the same time. We came late after a show at the Sphere. We were hungry and decided it was a great option with a lot of variety. I ended up ordering the lettuce wraps, which I was a little disappointed in. Someone mentioned that we needed to order the cookies, which were also disappointing. Had a great experience at Grand Lux Cafe. Leslie was very nice, friendly, and took really good care of us. We ordered the Banana Cream Pancakes, Avocado Benedict, and Whole Egg Omelet. Everything was super tasty, fresh, and prepared really well. We ordered everything for takeout, and the food was still excellent. For takeout orders, you order at the bakery area in the front, which is a really nice setup and very convenient. The restaurant itself is huge, with a large dining area and a nice bar. The whole place has a great atmosphere and plenty of space. Between the fresh and delicious food, the large dining area, nice bar, convenient bakery/takeout area, and the excellent service from Leslie, we had a really good experience. My buddy got the Garden Omelette (again, see Mr Mamas Breakfast and lunch review) and a cup of coffee. He enjoyed this omelette much better than the previous place. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs - All was good, but the pastrami was a little more charred than I preferred. And I got a fresh OJ for $10! Ambiance - A much larger location than expected. Lavash has a beautiful interior with a huge, open dining space that feels welcoming from the moment you walk in. The staff was friendly and attentive, and most entrées are around $30, which felt reasonable for the atmosphere. My only disappointment was the small portions and limited meal schedule. They don't serve lunch items until after 11 a.m., which caught me by surprise. We came in for lunch on a Saturday around 1:00 pm. We were seated right away. The place is huge. It's a bit dark, but it's a nice atmosphere. Good for couples and families. The restaurant is open 24/7. One person had the sandwich/soup/salad lunch combination. This was a half turkey sandwich, a half salad with balsamic and lobster bisque. They really enjoyed it. I had the Kale and Warm Grains salad. It was an interesting combination (including farro, quinoa, dates) and was very tasty. Could have used a bit more dressing. I probably should have asked for some extra on the side. The third person had the Crispy Avocado salad. It can be a bit dim inside so for those who wear glasses, this can pose a bit of a problem hahahaha I was having a hard time reading the menu but Adeline saw me struggling and politely asked if I needed reading glasses since they have some and Thank You, Thank You because I could finally read the menu! Great restaurant and coffee and pastry business inside the Venetian resort. I love that the restaurant is available however it is often crowded and there's always a long way to be seated. I frequented the coffee shop right next-door. That is attached to the restaurant. They have wonderful pastries, danishes, and coffee and Matcha latte drinks. They're seating for about 6 to 8 people in this area at a bar top in the coffee shop. The prices are decent however they are on the higher side. Every day that I came, although I ordered the same thing, it seemed to go up a dollar every day was weird. I started off ordering a cheese danish and a caramel macchiato one day it was $13. The next day it was $14. Them, by the end of my visit it was $17. It sort of bothered me because I've made sure that I always tipped the staff that was working here, oh well. If you have time to wait in line to be seated at the restaurant, definitely do it. Ladies & Gentleman I destroyed my meal today at Grand Lux Cafe. Came in for lunch and had the Buffalo Chicken Rolls & Chicken Jambalaya and wow it really hit the spot. OK, it's not the first dining experience I've had here but I really needed a great meal and the GLC delivered the goods today. Folks when I'm in Vegas I'm normally dining here a few times. It's great food, open late and has exceptional coffee in the morning. When you're needing a comfort food meal this is the only place in Vegas that can guarantee you that experience. Best chicken salad sandwich you'll dine on. Sensational appetizers with my two favorites being the mini cheeseburgers & buffalo chicken rolls and FRANKS new favorite entree is the Jambalaya. Benefits for gamblers it's open late for when you need a recharge. The hidden gem is the coffee counter in the morning. NO LINE ( don't tell anybody ) plus its coffee is robust & delicious. Starbucks next door is 50 people deep and GLC not only has no line but the pastry's are exceptional. Also note you can get desert at the coffee area as well all day & night. I can't lie. This spot is convenient. It's nice to roll out of bed & be able to grab a quick meal. On my most recent visit, I got the breakfast buffet. The hashbrowns were not fresh. Neither were the waffles. We came another day and ordered breakfast off menu instead. That too was not favorable. The dish was shakshuka. The description in menu was misleading. I love a good waffle and decided to give this place a try. It was pretty early by Vegas standards so there was no problem getting seated. Waffle perfection is surprisingly hard to find. They do have waffles available at the breakfast buffet but my server said they're mini waffles and not really the same, so went with a standard waffle and a side of bacon. I was served waffle nirvana. Light and crispy on the outside. Inside was the most perfect texture, soft, a nice chew, and overall a delightful flavor. It was paired with a butter-infused syrup that was absolutely wonderful. Sadly I wasn't too fond of the bacon. Of the four pieces, only two looked cooked decently enough. The other two were cooked but no crisp to them. Sad and floppy. Didn't care too much for the flavor, a little too artificial smokey. Service was excellent. My server was prompt, very friendly, and personable. The inside is a little on the dark side. I am not sure if this is the ambiance they're going for but the decor paired with dim lighting makes the place seem very dated and depressing. I feel like it could use a refresh. Came back after almost two years, and it was absolutely worth it. They started us with warm sourdough bread and butter, simple but perfect. We're staying at the Venetian Hotel and decided on trying out the Grand Lux Cafe for a late lunch. We started off with the fish tacos, omg these little tacos may be the best I've ever had lol. The anticipation for my quesadillas is overwhelming. I'm honestly blown away, so much flavor and extremely tasty. The only drawback is you must eat them quickly, letting them sit makes the tortilla very soggy but I'll be back tomor for the short ribs n chicken tacos just to compare, and eat quickly! The service was good too, our waiter was very nice and helpful on helping us choose what was the go-to. My favorite and most consistent place to eat every time im on the strip! The breakfast buffet is delicious for if you want any basic breakfast foods but my favorite specialty entree would be the biscuits and gravy. Yeah, it's a chain restaurant in the Venetian Casino, but it's good and they have something for everyone. There's a reason it's crowded and has been here for years. There is typically a wait here but if you're lucky, you can snag a seat at the bar. The bartending staff was super busy making drinks on a Saturday afternoon, but not too busy where they didn't take care of us with drinks and orders. The meals were delicious with the Spicy Ginger Beef having a nice kick and had some super tender beef. The Thai Caramel chicken was also good, but a little on the sweet side, but that was expected with Caramel in the name. As always, no room for dessert and I didn't even look. I had gotten the slow roasted beets, and the house green salad. Nothing really wowed in this case. I'd say I like the fries and the slow roasted beets. The cream sauce balanced the beets well with occasional nuts for texture. The house green salad was more lettuce than anything else. The southwest chicken salad, the meat was a bit dry. Went with a group of 9 for breakfast and ordered the Breakfast Luxe Buffet. The food itself was decent, but the overall experience was disappointing. We were initially told the wait would be about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to an hour. During that time, we saw several smaller parties of 2 to5 get seated ahead of us, which was frustrating. Once seated, service continued to be slow. Food took a while to arrive, and one of the steaks was overcooked. The manager stopped by and offered to have it remade, but by the time the replacement was ready, we had already received our check and were preparing to leave. We had mentioned that if it took too long, we didn't want the replacement steak, yet it was still boxed up and we ended up being charged for it. Another issue was that dirty plates were left on our table for an extended period and were never cleared promptly. The buffet had a nice selection, including eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, bread, fruit, and made-to-order items, but the slow service and handling of the steak issue took away from the experience. I came here super late one night because it was open 24 hours with some coworkers of mine. We work graveyard shift so we came here for a meal before we headed home. upon entering we got a table pretty quickly within a few minutes. We got seated kind of near the outside patio area, so it was a good spot. I was wanting to order the chicken Alfredo pasta, but they didn't have any sauce for the day so I could not order it. I ordered the chicken carbonara pasta instead. I would say that it was very tasty! All the food that my friends got looked delicious as well. The service was OK. We got everything we needed. We ate here on 3 occasions: 1 breakfast and 2 dinners. The food is a bit overpriced but it's to be expected for being in a casino. The variety in the menu is great and the portion sizes are great...you could easily split a meal with another person. I would say that the quality of service differed each time...nothing was ever horrible but you can tell that some servers were more invested than others. I would give one star, except the pizza was good. The menu said 18 inch pizza but they gave it to me in a 14 inch box. Also it was not round. It was oblong, i thought they bought me flatbread by mistake. The restaurant is in the Venetian Casino, so it seemed kind of high-end. There was no way to place an order. The seating is right off the casino floor, so you are still part of the casino action meaning it's not quiet. The pizza was good. It was kind of thin crust, the crust had the perfect balance between crunch and chewy. I would go back for the pizza. I just hate that they said it would be an 18 inch when the total was really about 10-12in. Good for one person that's hungry or two people are not that hungry. read more
