This was a nice little find. After striking out for lunch in FTW on a Saturday, we were getting desperate. My stomach thought my throat had been cut! So in we went and were pleasantly surprised. A nice rose Malbec and then I had the ham/cheese sandwich. The sandwich had (at least for me) too much af a rather sweet chutney on it. I had to scrape that off. Madame had the tomato/basi soup and our other friend had the same sandwich as I. He had the mac/cheese which was pretty darned good. We had a salmon bruschetta appetizer that was also surprisingly good. The food was worth a bit more than the three stars and if the service had been good, I would have bumped the review up. But our waitret was disinterested in the food. Just wanted to take the order and get on with it. There were 2 foreign accents at the table - French and English. Home run - Winslow's offers great experience, friendly staff, and tasty food. We are somewhat regulars at Winslow's, we go at least once every few months. Our recent experience was the best though. It was my wife's birthday and we had a medium size party made up of family. Our waiter, Peter, was energetic and eager to please, but not too hovering; it was like he knew exactly when we needed him without him being on top of us all night. Very nice. The other aspect, and I really have to thank him for this, was the general manager Eric personally came over to our table, greeted us, and wished my wife a happy birthday. I'd call that over and above service. The staff in this place is amazing, we had a young male waiter and i can't for the life of me remember his name ... but anyways he was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and what foods to eat when we had the wine. Winslow's is the perfect date night spot and not just because I love wine. They have great wood-fire pizza, although I was disappointed when they took the Winslow's crunch off the menu. Their pizzas range from fancy to margherita. The pepperoni is close to my favorite in town. I recognize its weird that I enjoy such a simple pizza at Winslow's but if you can't count on the basics, how can you trust the fancy stuff? As their name implies, Winslow's has a great wine selection! I can always count on familiar options as well as new options to choose from. The ambiance is the best part of Winslow's. They have a few separate rooms inside but if the weather's nice, I'd recommend the patio: it's spacious and has a lovely fireplace to enjoy. Service has always been spectacular; it is clear that Winslow's takes time in selecting and training their wait staff. Parking is easy because they have complimentary valet. Don't forget to tip because the valet staff are great! My favorite place on Sunday, besides church! It's a small fabulous hideaway near west 7th. Free valet ( but please tip valet!) it can be a bit crowed because it's small , but the staff makes sure to keep your mimosas filled while you wait. I highly suggest the Cowtown Tacos, or their Egg Benedict. We did have to wait awhile for food, check also took a bit, but did I mention the staff kept our mimosas filled. Great for family's ( probably older kids) girls brunch, or date. They do close around 2, to set up for the evening. Don't be that guy who walks in at 130! I guess I should have lowered my expectations for brunch at Winslow's. I just thought since they offered Sunday brunch that it would be good, like most of their other food. Unfortunately, it was barely mediocre. To start with, I had to ask for silverware and a napkin AFTER my food arrived to my table. The plate was hotter than the food. The Eggs Benedict was ok, if a little dry. The jalapeño biscuits were cold and dry. When I asked for some butter for the biscuits (who serves biscuits without butter?), they had to go in the back and cut up some ice cold cubes of butter. By the time the butter melted (from the ambient temperature, not the food), I was ready to leave. They didn't even have half & half or cream for the coffee (just milk). The service however was good, if a bit slow. Everyone whom I interacted with was nice and very accommodating. The staff knew my meal did not turn out very well and they comped it - which was VERY nice of them. My overall impression is that they were not prepared to serve brunch - and if they don't want to commit to it 100%, maybe they should just stick to their regular lunch menu and alcoholic beverages. Wanted to book a table for 15 for my friends birthday. They make you put a card down just Incase you don't spend their "minimum party price" if you have more than 10 people? We got absolutely Garbage service because what we assume was for the fact that we automatically got charged 20% gratuity. After asking multiple times from multiple employees for sides we ordered with our meal, jam for biscuits, hot sauce etc. we STILL didn't get what we asked for. It Took 20 minutes just to put a drink order in. My eggs Benedict was cold, The glasses smelled like they hadn't been cleaned and whoever drank out of it last had the most rank breath of all time. Total trash service. Especially since I had to wait for 2 days to have their "event manager" call me back, having to sign a PAYMENT AGREEMENT for a BRUNCH??, you would expect AT LEAST decent service. I love their happy hour but their group service is a total joke. One of the girls in our group accidentally knocked a wine glass off the table, and a different waiter came by and raised her voice at us saying "JUST DONT TOUCH IT" and then walked away waving her arm in the air talking to the other employees saying "oh my god, nobody give them any more alcohol" as someone who's worked in the food service industry before, it's pretty common for glasses/plates to be broken... and we gave them no reason for them to think we had been over served. If you're going to preach impeccable service for a "party room" with a minimum payment price, you'd better at least give minimum service! We will not be back! My boyfriend and I went to Winslow's for the first time for our anniversary. The service and staff were very accommodating and quick. Such a pleasant and elegant experience. Everything was reasonably priced for the great quality of food. We ordered hummus and truffle fries to start which was all so fresh, along with the salmon we ordered. Cute little restaurant tucked in off camp Bowie. We came in on a busy Sunday for brunch. Remember to call ahead or reserve if possible. We had a large group and they were very accommodating. This rating is based on my food alone. I had the texas Benedict after reading everyone's reviews and was disappointed. The cornbread was very dry and crumbled upon trying to eat. The brisket was not that tender and the egg was ok. Overall I wished i got the pizza instead. The highlight was the cheese plate. Our first trip to Winslow's was on Valentine's Day 2011. We enjoyed a three course meal with wine pairings for roughly $95/person before tax and tip. I'm glad we found this wine cafe because the atmosphere is wonderful and the seating is spacious. If you want flies and gnats with your meal, go ahead. Their happy hour menu was a nice surprise - $3 for mac and cheese is too good a deal to pass. And admittedly, the few bites I could enjoy before having swat away swarms of pests were actually really tasty. I'm not one for causing a scene at a restaurant, pounding my fist or demanding a free meal - especially since my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. But we were not even given the slightest courtesy for this disgusting atmosphere. I'm sure most people wouldn't put up with it. The staff was understanding, even though they admitted to knowing about the issue and seated us in the problem area anyway. But even after watching us swat flies away constantly throughout our meal, and apologizing several times over, we were still expected to pay the full bill. You'll get better, unprompted service from managers at Applebee's for less that what we put up with. If you plan on going on anytime soon, you should at least call ahead and ask if they've finished fumigating the place--that is, of course, you prefer inhaling that sort of stuff or smelling like toxic chemicals as you leave. read more

She went above and beyond to work the fire to keep the ambiance in check and my bubbly full. Worst dining experience of my life!!!! Usually winslows is a great place to dine, however this horrible manager, Blake, ruined not only my evening but my children's evening. I will never eat here or reccomend this restaurant ever again. I ordered the filet - rare and it came out raw. They asked me to cut into it to check it, I sent it back, then 15-20 minutes later, after my children had finished their meals, they brought the same piece of meat back, over cooked. I tasted it to see if it had flavor because, I was going to eat it; however, because it had been cut, the juice ran out and it was not only over cooked, but tasteless! The waitress, who was very nice offered to bring another, but at this point my kids had finished their food and I didn't want to wait, so, I told her no thank you I am fine. I ordered another glass (I had 1 with appetizer while waiting on dinner) of wine because we were going to have dessert when this little POS jerk manager came over and started badgering me about my steak. I told him I was fine I wasnt hungry but he wouldn't leave us alone. I finally told him normally a restaurant would bring a new steak instead of one that had been cut so the juices ran out and ruined the filet. For $37 ya could have brought out a new piece of meat. At that point this little jerk started to debate me on what he thought. I explained for the 19th time I'm ok, it's ok to which he replied "well I'm sorry you wont let me fix this for you" and stomped off. Seriously you little asshole! My kids immediately said to me what a jerk he was. He came back to our table, I let him know that what he said was a snarky shitty comment to say to a customer. I tried to explain for the 20th time I was ok about dinner and that i just want to sit and enjoy my glass of wine to which he grabbed my glass and stated he did not feel comfortable serving me and asked us to leave his restaurant. I asked a waiter if he was a manager and if the owner was onsite. Of course he was not. On our way out I stopped to ask a waitress if there was an email that I could contact the owner and the little troll popped up and presented me with a ticket for my kids dinner. I paid, didn't leave a tip, so sorry to the waitress, but your boss is a dick-he can give you a tip. He commented that it was his restaurant to which I said you are a manager not the owner. At that point he started asking me over and over again like a child, "then who's the owner, who's the owner, who is the owner then, who's the owner. At that point I just ignored him paid for my kids dinner and got the fuck out of there. Super jerk manager, Mr Blake! You were dourigitory, snarkey, rude, and condesending to a person who was ok with her steak not being cooked not once but twice. If you had only just said ok, I'm sorry and left us alone, none of this would have happened. We were happy and content until you entered the scene. I've visited Winslow's 3 or 4 times now and always had a great experience. Their wine list includes different wines than you will find everywhere else and their waitstaff is always willing to describe the choices and recommend one based upon my preferences. Jason is a great waiter and makes sure that you are happy with your selections. Their menu changes with the seasons and the Winter menu is great. The salmon bruschetta is amazing and I love the hummus trio, a great complement of flavors. The pizzas are also good and I like the macaroni and cheese- creamy and cheesy. Definitely try to sit on the patio if the weather is at all pleasant, the fireplace is warm and makes the seats by it nice and cozy and heaters around the other tables make it easy to extend patio weather into the winter months. After 15-minutes my wife and I walked out. We will never return and simply don't care to ever give this place another try. To begin the other reviewer's are correct, it is so flipping loud in this place it is insane. It's almost like people are shouting at each other just to talk. Next, as we waited for our table we were met with some of the rudest service workers I've ever encountered. My wife asked about a gluten option and they looked at her like she had two heads. Next we looked at the menu and couldn't believe that they charged $21 for a burger. That's right a burger. There is someone else complaining in their review about spending $180 here and now I know what they're talking about.
