I wanted to start off by saying I don't think I ever had a bad experience here. Been coming here off and on for a year, all different times of the day. I usually come in on a Sunday with my family, the customer service is awesome. Always checking in on us. The prices for the lunch specials are great. The restaurant is small, but it's very cute and clean. The food is always fresh. The only thing I don't like is their chicken lo main, but the beef is delicious. I was hopeful that this place would be good based on other reviews, but I was very disappointed. Ordered food for pickup on a Monday night and the place was dark and there were no customers. It almost looked like they were closed. Ordered egg fried rice, orange chicken, and boba. All of it was just bad. The boba tea had a menthol ash tray flavor. The orange chicken was mostly battered and very dry with little sauce. The fried rice was fine but very bland. The food did not taste good and I did not feel good about eating it. Fabulous customer service I must say! I'm impressed. I revived drink refills as soon as my drink was getting low. Never had to ask for anything or look around to try and find someone to bring us something. Everyone was very nice and they mad my experience here (first time here) great. I was also impressed with the food. Very good and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and so was the restroom. It was a bit slow but it was an early evening on a Monday night. Stopped in here after going to the movies one night with my girlfriend. We searched restaurants on Yelp and like to find the hole in the wall places that we usually pass by. Came in on a Thursday night and it wasn't insanely crowded. The place itself inside is kind of small, SUPER CLEAN, and the employees are all very friendly. Everything on the menu looked and sounded DELICIOUS but we decided on the broccoli beef and orange chicken, spicy. Every aspect of both dishes were exceptional, and priced really fairly. The employees all quickly brought us water whenever we needed, condiments, checked in on us while we were in. I can't wait to come back, so happy we found this place. read more

So I came here after reading the yelp reviews and well they got the part right on the food. Well to a certain extent.... The food seemed to be made as it was ordered compared to the the trays sitting in the food warmers I'm used to seeing in LA County. On the other hand it was somewhat bland compared to other Chinese food I've had before. Now the service.... I probably got their worst employee as my server or she was getting ready to quit or I don't know... but she was rude and (fill in word here). Worst part is I don't even know why. We got there and we were asked if it was to go or dine in, sat and she immediately asked us in a rude tone "You ready to order????" Of course I wasn't. I figured she might have been new to the country or not so comfortable with the language and culture so I tried to ignore it. Buuuuttt then she started bringing out the food order and I do not exaggerate when I say she threw it on the table.... Yeah definitely not cool. The lengthy vegetarian portion of the menu drew us here, because omnivores aren't the only ones who should get to enjoy deep-fried balls of chewy protein doused in sweet sauces, however, it let us down. The ominous B grade in the window should've been enough to turn us away, and if it weren't, the fairly putrid smell really ought to have been a warning sign, but we were hungry and gave it a try anyway having seen high reviews. The "meats" themselves had a flavor best described as dried oil. The sweet and sour sauce was pretty standard fare, but the orange sauce was the consistency of mucous and wasn't the tastiest. I have an allergy to melons and a person in my party ordered a honeydew boba slush no big deal if they cleaned the container where they made the drinks. I clearly asked for the honey milk tea. We clarified honey several times. Not honeydew. Anyways I got honeydew and my tongue is so itchy! And the waitress argued with me about it. I got the Szechuan chicken lunch special that comes with a egg flour soup and fried rice Fried rice as just cheap soy sauce plus slight egg rice, far from tasty rice. I ordered an extra steamed rice because I didn't like it The egg flour soup was just that yellow soup with egg in it. Just salty with sesame oil type if you know what I mean. The chicken in the main dish just didn't taste fresh. It had that frozen meat taste that wasn't even masked by the salty sauce. I had to use a lot of sriracha to cover that up. It is definitely a place only local Redlands white people come to. To be honest, I wouldn't really respect your palate if you liked the food here. This place is basically the definition of cheap Chinese food. I hate Panda Express but I might prefer that next time. Just being honest not mean, really. I won't be back. I came in today around 4pm and ordered 2 boba slushies. The drinks overall were pretty good... very refreshing. However.. My friends and I were the only people in the restaurant at the time and our 2 drinks took around 15 minutes for them to make. Two older women came in and ordered drinks and theirs came out less than a minute later... and 12 minutes before ours. While they seemed understaffed I think that is a pretty long time to wait for 2 drinks. Also, the staff was nice but pretty unprofessional. We were in the mood for Chinese, but wanted to try something a little more than our old stand-by Open Kitchen. The reviews for this place were almost all really good here and in Urbanspoon so we decided to give it a try. At first we were wary- it was a ghost town in the restaurant, but the staff was prompt, pleasant and professional. The place looked great, and although we thought they could have used more booths, the use of the challenging space they're in was well used and looked nice. The food choices were good, and the prices fair. We got the 'A' Dinner for 2 and it didn't take long. The Wonton soup was EXCELLENT. Very flavorful and cooked just right. The egg rolls were also wonderful- the best I've had in a very long time! The fried shrimp and fried wontons were also good. We had Sweet and sour chicken- very good, and Kung Pao chicken which was surprisingly good! They give the choice of mild, medium and hot which is awesome because I'm a wimp but my boyfriend likes spicy... We got the mild and were both pleased with the compromise! We were both very pleased with our overall experience and will definitely be going back! The only downer was the paper wrapped chicken. It had too much soy sauce and had been left heating for too long, so it was chewy and over seasoned... It was more like sausage. But everyone has a bad day sometimes, today the paper wrapped chicken wasn't great, but everything else made up for it. I came here with my girlfriend last week while the local Farmers' Market was going on. Overall, I was pleased with our experience there. The restaurant isn't the largest by any stretch of the imagination (it's actually on the smaller side). Most tables were in use when we arrived, yet the service we got was fantastic. The servers checked on us regularly, and the food we ordered arrived at our table more quickly than I really expected. As for the food, I thought the presentation was very good. I won't beat around the bush and say this was the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it was still good. I'll just say I've had better. I noticed one of the other recent reviewers made mention of this place having a B rating. This piqued my curiosity since I clearly remember them having an A rating when we were there no more than 1-2 days prior to the other reviewer's visit. This can be interpreted by us customers in any way. I believe that quality always comes from the top and works its way down. Taste testing a food item and re-using the spoon to stir food that will be served to customers is a legitimate, blatantly stupid thing to do. I seriously want to know how that employee earned their certificate. These write-ups sound like problems that management shouldn't have to quiz their employees on, to be quite honest. But as the saying goes, you can't fix stupid...but you can certainly manage it. read more

My husband and I came here for a late lunch after a day at the VA hospital. We were hungry and a little cranky and were pleasantly surprised by this cute restaurant. This was by far the best Asian food I have ever had, savory and not overly salty. Our server, Amy (not sure how she spelled it) was very polite and friendly. We liked the food so much that we got two orders to go so that we could eat it later. The atmosphere was very pleasant, pretty pictures on the walls, and soft, pretty music. The protions were very appropriate for lunch. We each had a very small salad, a small cup of egg flower soup, steamed rice, and an eggroll. My husband got the house lo mein which had chicken, beef and shrimp...So Good! I got the beef and broccoli which was also very delicious. We will definitely be coming back every time we are in town. The food was horrible it tasted like they just took the left overs from the day before and refashioned them into a "Lunch Special." You're not missing out on anything here. We always go to this place every Thursday. I send my son to get a Thai tea and he gave him a milk tea. Instead of fixing them, they argued to me back and forth and even told me not to go there anymore. He keeps saying my son said milk tea, my son speaks perfectly English and i know he said Thai tea. If I can give no stars, I would. Oh boy after they changed management/owner it went down hill the customer service. The actual "manager" barely speaks English and arguing and yelling with the customer. I'm sorry I'm a business owner myself and that's one of the rules I have for my employees never argue with the customer. I'm so pissed after he starts arguing and yelling at me. After arguing back and forth, he finally gave me a refund BUT he is pissed off and threw the milk tea hard to the trash and even said "Damn it". Wow! Decided to come try this place on a Sunday night and I'm pretty impressed by what it had to offer. First off, the service was phenomenal. They really care about their customers by how attentive they were in making sure we got everything we needed. The food was equally as amazing. Although it's quite pricy for Chinese food, I think it's justifiable by 1. It's delicious. 2. I'm sure rent isn't cheap in downtown Redlands. Anyways, we ordered a small vegetable soup, vegetarian Kung pao chicken and beef duo, and broccoli and beef. The soup had a strong peppery flavor and it was about 3 bowls worth of soup (not bad for a small order of soup). I'm not a vegetarian but wanted to try their veggie meat, it was a little salty but it was really good! Same with the broccoli and beef. I also really appreciate how crunchy the broccoli were and the peanuts in the Kung pao dish. Usually they're really soggy from the sauce so kudos to them for getting it right. So many things I want to try here...I already raved about the sweet and sour chicken which is nothing like the usual Americanized version! Pretty on point! I went back to try the walnut honey shrimp which didn't excite me as much, though not horrible. The shrimp itself needed a bit more seasoning but it was palatable. The selection is decent but actual food was nothing special. This place is great for people who are looking for vegan options because they do offer a selection of soy meats. I decided to come here on my lunch break because I was looking for something new and wanted to give another local place a try. I ended up getting the cashew chicken which came with a sweet and sour soup and an egg roll. The price was not at all bad considering how much food I got. The people that work here are really nice and attentive. So don't expect to wait too long for your food to come out. I was Walking around downtown Redlands and I noticed that the old burger place is now a Chinese Restaurant. Lately I've been trying to do better in supporting local businesses so my friend and I thought we would stop in to check the menu. As a vegetarian I am sometimes leery when menus offer soy products and tofu options. I'm picky and I prefer my tofu certain ways. Needless to say I was feeling adventurous so I ordered Vege Broccoli "Beef" and the Family Style tofu to go. I got home and my teenage son who loves Chinese food couldn't believe how tasty the food was. If I hadn't served my plate first he would have eaten both to go boxes. The flavoring in both dishes was amazing. The tofu was cooked just right. I was blown away by the two dishes I chose and it left me wanting to try more dishes. The first person I thought of to bring here is my Dad. He loves Chinese food and I know he would enjoy this restaurant. I have been to many Chinese restaurants and this one is in my top 3. Being vegetarian friendly is one thing but for the food to be so well prepared and delicious is a whole different subject which many restaurants fail to deliver on. Wok in Cafe did not disappoint . If you desire pork in your Chinese food preparations, you are out of luck here. They serve absolutely no pork of any kind. The steamed dumplings were excellent -served piping hot with a delicious sauce. The shrimp fried rice was not so delicious. Actually, the shrimp were well cooked and tasty, but the fried rice was very mushy. I 'm guessing it was cooked earlier in the day and then placed under a heat lamp for serving later. The dumplings were good, but not good enough to make up for the mushy fried rice and the absence of any pork dishes on the menu. read more

They are amazing here. I've never been less than completely pleased with the food and service. I only eat the vegetarian options and they are so delicious. Once they forgot the fried rice in a to-go order of mine and instead gave double steamed rice. I just called back and they were completely helpful and had a free serving of fried rice for me.
