My family had lunch here. Service was good and friendly. I had LoMein with fried rice. lomein was ok, but the fried rice was the worst I have ever had, anywhere in the world. I could not eat it. I told the waiter and he could care less. He told no one, but HAPPILY took our money. Well, with that attitude they will not get my money any longer. My husband and I walked in, we sat, then we're told to look at menu and she'd be right back to take our drink order. .. We waited. .. Were brought complimentary fried noodles ...waited ...waited. .. Watched two other parties get sat and asked for their food orders before we'd even had water brought to us. Finally I flagged a girl down and asked for waters. There were servers walking around, bussing tables, but it took forever to get our orders taken...AND it's a SMALL restaurant. My husband got Mongolian Beef and I got Sezchuan Eggplant. Both were really good. Probably the BEST I've had in Redlands. The service was fine after we'd gotten our food and the lady who served us was pleasant and very nice. My fiancée and I went on a drive to getaway for the day...we ended up in downtown Redlands.... we started to get hungry while walking around..as we were walking I spotted this Chinese cafe called Wok In Cafe....they had signs out with lunch specials for a Saturday day...their specials are every day!! So much to choose from on the menu, my fiancée is vegetarian and they still had a lot to choose from on the menu for her...she ordered the veggie deluxe, steam rice and veggies low mein (chowmein) and I ordered the orange chicken and steamed rice...the specials were huge servings for like two people to eat from...the food came out steaming hot and so freakin delicious...this place is a must try if your in downtown Redlands.... read more

Food was delicious! That's a big deal since I am not ordinarily a Chinese food fan, (but I'm married to one so I've had plenty of it nontheless). The beef Kung Pao has probably the best flavor of any Kung Pao I've ever tasted. The orange chicken was light and crisp, not heavy. I loved that. The War Wonton soup was perfectly balanced. The restaurant was very clean. The service was excellent and the prices were good too. Definitely looked, felt and tasted authentic. Been here more than a couple times. Since the first time I came to the last, it's been delicious. Dinner is expensive but they have lunch specials. You definitely get a bigger portion for dinner. The service for dining in is mediocre. There's always someone on their phone at the counter no matter who or when. The food is what keeps me coming back. It's always fresh. I'm so sad that this little place has gone downhill since the ownership changed. First problem is that the servers don't speak English. Second problem, you can ask questions about the menu items because they don't understand you. Third, the food is ok at best and prices are too high for portions. I get it that your gonna get variations from restaurants to restaurant, but wow I thought this dish was pale in comparison To how it should have been. Smothered in a brown sauce that wasn't a hit.... If I do return I will not be ordering anything with shrimp! I would like to ad this. As we were finishing our dinner a gentleman was seated solo in a booth next to us. He had ordered a noodle dish but as he was asking about the noodle size etc, thick or skinny? He made it clear he wanted a thick noodle. When his dish came out he pointed that out to his waiter/mngr. He said I didn't want this kind of noodle and said you can take it back. The waiter became rude and said you ordered it ! What your not going to pay for it. He replied no I will not pay for it. Best Chinese food I've had since moving to the area. The Orange chicken, beef lo mein, shrimp fried rice, and wonton soup was delicious.

The food here is really "meh"... I went here because my non-Chinese boyfriend wanted "Chinese Food" and there is not much of a choice here in San Bernardino County. I really had a bad feeling as I walked into the restaurant, all non-Asian eating... the thing I don't like is, everything you order that's sweet and sour chicken or shrimp, it's always breaded... not good. The egg flower soup, no good... just salty and it seems like they forgot to add cornstarch... food is not tasty at all... I won't come back again... but I bet you my boyfriend would read more

Authentic legit Chinese flavors. The orange chicken was probably my favorite as it was cooked with orange peels and was crispy not soggy. Wor wonton soup is great too. Recommend this place for sure. Prices are fair. Low key environment great for a nice sit down meal and chat. read more

My sister and I wanted Chinese food for lunch after walking around in downtown Redlands. We had passed this place many times, so we decided to try them out. I must say this is the worse Chinese food we have ever had. The egg flower soup was watered down, the fried rice had no flavor whatsoever. My sister ordered curry shrimp and I ordered shrimp with vegetables. The food had no flavor, and the shrimp had a weird texture and taste to the point that we did not finish eating the food. About thirty minutes later after we left the restaurant both of us were feeling sick to our stomachs. We will never return to this restaurant, and we will not be recommending Wok in Cafe to any of our family or friends. read more

I love this place, especially because they have an extensive menu that offers vegetarian meats. I love cheap Chinese takeout and felt sad that I would have a harder time finding it since I started eating a plant-based diet. Now this is my go-to. I almost always order take-out, and I admit they usually aren't quite ready when I show up to pick it up, but the food is always hot, flavorful, and as I said, there is a huge selection to choose from. Unbelievable! I got food to go today. Never again!! The House Lo mein noodles were old and mushy. There were very few tiny pieces of beef and only two shrimp. The Beef Chop Suey vegetables were old and way over cooked! I called to speak with the manager but the woman answering the phone said no managers were there today. She gave the phone to a man, who later, during the conversation said he was the manager. I described the condition of the food. He replied that the food "to go" was cooked different than the food in the restaurant. I asked how was it cooked differently. He replied that it was different food than what they served in the restaurant. Really?!?! I asked, "Why?" He said,"It was just different food, not the same." What the heck is that supposed to mean? Very small restaurant on E State tucked in between two stores. We came in on a Sunday morning @11:30 {lunch specials 11-4pm daily}; the place was super clean and we didn't have to wait for a table. The lady who seated us was very kind; it seemed only 2 people serving/hosting. Both were great. We ordered sweet and sour chicken & lo mein (SUBSTITUE steamed rice to lo mein was extra $3.50); orange chicken (w/o the spicy kick for the kid); Kung pao chicken & sesame chicken. Each entree came with a small soup, salad and spring roll. Egg flower soup was good; smooth and tasty. Salad has a tiny bit of honey mustard dressing- it was refreshing and delicious. Each of us enjoyed our meals. My daughter LOVED her lo mein; in fact next time she only wants noodles. The food came pretty quickly. We had barely begun our soup when entrees were brought out. Really surprised to find a pretty good Chinese restaurant in the middle of Downtown Redlands. From the outside, it looks like it'd just be another cheap version of Chinese fast food, but it's actually like the name suggests - you "wok in" and sit down and eat good Chinese food. Unlike Panda and other cheap Chinese restaurants, they actually make all the food to order so it tastes fresh and hot when you get it, not like it's been sitting in a heating tray all day. They have awesome lunch specials until 4pm for about $8-$10 (depending on which option you choose). This comes with your choice of entree, either rice or fried rice, either egg flower soup or hot and sour soup, an egg roll, and a salad. I've tried the Sczehuan chicken, teriyaki chicken, kung pao chicken, orange chicken, and mapo tofu from this place and they were all delicious. I think the kung pao may have been a tad saltier than I would've liked, but I still enjoyed every bite. Their orange chicken is also very hot and very delicious, and I was not let down by their mapo tofu. They give you a very generous portion for the price you're paying. read more

Disgusting! I had the wonton soup that had 5 pieces of tiny square carrots, 4 peas, cabbage, wontons that tasted like dough. The stock was tasteless. I had to add salt and pepper. It must have been their signature peasant soup with a couple rocks and veggies. I will never go to that horrible restaurant again. It should have stayed a Becky's Burgers. Service was s**t! Very disappointing lunch. I assumed that because it was on State Street in downtown Redlands amidst a lot of other wonderful restaurants and shops that it would be decent. I could not understand any of the waitresses, their English was so poor and they spoke so quickly and so softly. The serving portions were small. The fried rice did not resemble any fried rice I've ever had. The flavors were all off. And my friend's wonton soup was basically "stone soup" with not much in it. I wish I had known or I had read a review before I went. If you want good Chinese, keep looking. Or just grab a burger or pizza nearby. read more
