I come here sometimes for lunch while I'm at work. This place is nothing fancy but just gets the job done. My go to is the beef chow fun and it's done perfectly. The ratio of beef, chow fun and flavor is perfect. If you like spicy, then you can add a little bit of sriracha for a nice kick. My philosophy as a yelp review is this: unless a place super wows me the first time, I do not like reviewing a place unless I've been there at least 3 times. As far as the food goes is always fresh and hot, and if it's not they will make a new batch and let you know. Their buffet is Chinese American food but it's all good. I have grown up in the city, Richmond district, had a ton of Chinese friends growing up, and I will say this food satisfies my Chinese food craving completely. Did I mention it's a buffet too? You can eat as much as you want! But my advice is take is slow and get a little bit of everything and find what you love then go for it. Oh and they also do breakfast all day too! I've been to a ton of Chinese restaurants and I can be pretty picky about how I like my Chinese food. But let me tell you, WOK-IN got it down! They make the best salt and pepper chicken wings and tea leaf eggs ($1.50 each) I've ever had. The wings are so crispy and so flavorful, with the perfect amount of jalapeño. The tea leaf eggs are bold and so fragrant. The seafood chow mein they serve here is delicious as well. They have now set the standard for chow mein and I can't go anywhere else without comparing to Wok-In. Other favorites of mine are the BBQ pork, roast pork, salty fish chicken fried rice, beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, and their runny egg dishes (off menu). Not a lot of places can nail a runny egg beef over rice, but I promise that if you order, it will not disappoint. Aside from the food, the staff members are super nice. This is the BEST hole in the wall for takeout I've found in SF for good dishes and huge portions. No matter how many other take out places I've tried during covid, I always compare to Wok-In and no other restaurant has even come close to how good Wok-In is. This place is so bomb! Michelle and Judy are soooo nice and super friendly. The food is always delicious and the veggies are crisp and fresh. I've had the buffet, which is always good for $13. The selection changes sometimes but there's always rice, some kind of noodle, potstickers, egg rolls, salt and pepper fish, hot and sour soup, and a ton of entrees. They have a roasted chili oil dip that's to die for. A la carte is great, you get A LOT of food for your order. The honey walnut prawns are huge! And you get almost a dozen per order. I subbed my rice for the salt fish fried rice. I think I paid less than $10 for a huge to go container filled with food. It's good enough for 2 meals. The breakfast is also soooo good! The French toast was perfect, pancakes are fluffy & huge, bacon & sausages are crispy & juicy, eggs are flavorful & fluffy. I should not have done that. Then my wife ordered hot tea. I grabbed a soda from the fridge nearby and told her I was having that. We sit down. My wife went back to ask for her tea. "I have to make it." We could tell she was busy, no big deal. My wife grabbed a mug from the counter and filled it from the nearby kettle, taking it back with us to our table. We continued eating and she asked again, this time, the lady grabbed an open tea bag with her bare hands and threw it at my wife. Also, the food was horrible. My walnut chicken was riddled with fat, and had dark areas in it that were impossible to chew so I had to spit it out in a napkin. The napkin sitting there with my spat food greatly reflected the rest of the meal. Disgusted with the behavior, and the food, we left, 30.00 lighter but barely any more full with the small amount of sludge we put in ourselves from that place. read more

I discovered this place randomly one day and within a time span of approximately 8 months, I eat here at least 2-3 times a week. It's convenient for me because it's only a 3 minute drive to my work and another big plus for me is that they accept credit cards. The main lady, Michelle, is very nice and will always remember your face whenever you return. The lunch buffet is definitely worth since it's only $7 (not including a drink). I usually order different plates when I go there just to try new things. My favorites are the Mongolian Beef Chow Fun, Sesame Chicken, and the Tomato Beef Fried Noodle. If you like spicy food, you'll love their Mongolian Beef. If you're ever craving something specific that isn't even on the menu, Michelle will gladly customize whatever you want.
