Cozy and the only Chinese restaurant in Glen Park, Win Garden has an extensive menu and good service; they seem to get a lot of takeout orders. We ordered vegetable spring rolls, roasted duck, Chinese broccoli and ocean party soup. Their portions are generous and the duck skins were nice and crispy but the meat is fatty. Ordered via DoorDash and food arrived hot and well packaged. Soup was wrapped in an extra bag and slits were cut into the top of the boxes to keep items from being soggy. Won't be able to talk about service or ambiance for this specific review. This is probably my favorite to-go salt and pepper pork chops I've ordered for delivery. It was still very crispy, not full of bones, and well seasoned. Pork was juicy and the breading was also not super thick. The hot and sour soup was also solid. I'm glad they nailed the "hot" portion because most restaurants miss that. Extra points for them giving it a rich deep color with dark soy, it's on the more authentic side. The dry braised chicken wings give San Tung a run for their money. Great option for delivery if you don't want to dine-in there. Flavor is mostly like a sweet soy but the spice doesn't really hit. Honey walnut prawns had a decent portion and the shrimp were cooked very well. String beans were sautéed and seasoned well. Still had a little bit of texture and not mushy (thank goodness)! The OK dish was the combination fried rice. Although pretty generous with the proteins, it definitely needed some more salt/seasonings added. Hard to give a Chinese restaurant 5 stars if the fried rice isn't nailed. As far as Chinese-American restaurants, this one has all your top hits. Although you can find great Chinese food in the Sunset strip of San Francisco or Chinatown you can also find it throughout the different San Francisco neighborhoods. During Chinese New Year I make it a point to try as many noodles for good luck as possible. I have tried many noodles but my favorite Chowmein is in Glen Park Village. There is one place which sells one of the best combination Chowmein in San Francisco and it's called Win Garden. On a Chinese New Year stroll in the Glen Park Village in San Francisco there is the only Chinese food restaurant in the neighborhood but it has one of the best combination Chowmein in city. Inside Win Garden is electric and there are some seating to eat or you can also order take out. Since baseball season is about to start next month I got something orange so I had the orange chicken and it was delicious and a bit sweet and sour like some in SF. Next I got the orange beef and it was delicious and a bit crispy but the meat was tender with flavor and not too tangy. Then I got one of the best combination fried rice in San Francisco. I always customize it so it isn't full of peas. Lastly I got one of the best combination Chowmein in San Francisco with its fresh hot savory noodles with mixture of meats which makes it the centerpiece of the meal. Go to Win Garden for win during any four seasons in San Francisco. I've been going to this place since it opened. And I supported Hong Sing when it was there before Win Garden. The food is amazing. Fresh and good flavor. I can't deny their talent. But it's super over priced . I've held back writing a review because I truly do love this place. Great customer service and yummy food. Some saucy dishes like sweet n sour pork or orange chicken , the sauce is super thick goopy like it's from a jar. But 90 % of the menu is super good. I am however upset with the prices. The steamed American broccoli is $15.95! The whole sale price for broccoli is $3-4 for each head. Cucumber salad app is approximately 1/2 a cucumber for $10! I know it cost them less than $2 to make! And now I just ordered vegetarian spring rolls. You get 3 of these very small rolls that's mostly paper I feel as if the very little filling is just to flavor the wrapping paper. They are average frozen rolls that you can buy at any market. These miniature rolls are $795!! Let's face it it cost OVER $2.50 per roll. Thats over .95 cents a bite! It's cabbage and carrots people. There's no pork. It's not stuffed with shiitake mushrooms which are expensive. I had to take a photo of the size and filling. Price gouging makes me mad. So moving forward I'm going to get my Chinese food from Alice's on 29th. It's fresh, great portions and reasonably priced. I will miss Win Garden, but I've had enough. read more

This is easily my most favorite Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. The food is tip top, no matter what you get. Some of my favorites are the Mapo Tofu, Steamed Mixed Vegetables with Chicken, General, General Tsao Chicken and Beef with Baby Bok Choy. Be prepared to wait as they are usually busy but well worth the wait. The service may seem indifferent to some but they are attentive while juggling many tasks so please be patient. There isn't much ambience here, the place is fine, I just feel like they are more geared towards take out orders. Temper your expectations of decor! Nonetheless this is a great spot for your Chinese food fix when in Glen Park. read more

However, I wish they would stop using black plastic containers for takeout given the known health risks with this- I would order takeout from them more often if they switched to less toxic food containers. We were warmly greeted and when my grandmother made a small comment about wanting a little bit more room, the waitress took the nearby table and made our table bigger. Before I get into the food, I do have to say their service is exceptional. The waitress treated us with grace, respect, and warmness that I can only find in some mom and pop stores. They were able to slightly customize their dishes to our desires and overall, our experience was extremely positive. *note: all the dishes we ordered were NOT lunch specials, we wanted to see what the normal sized dishes are* Dragon Beef: this was definitely a highlight. To compare it to another dish, it tasted like R+G's famous R+G's Beef. It doesn't taste exactly like that but it has that same amazing flavor. You definitely have to get it! Sesame chicken: It was pretty good! Definitely not the best I had but then again, there was nothing wrong with it! It lacked a bit of color (tbh I LOVE free broccoli that usually comes with meat dishes like this so maybe i'm biased ahahaha) Fried Rice: The shrimp they have here is JUMBO sized like they're big, I was surprised! Ordered last night after quite some time and I have to say I was greatly disappointed. I have been going to Win Garden for many years pre-covid but I noticed the prices kept increasing so I wasn't as frequent a customer like before. I decided I wanted to splurge on good Chinese food so I opted to order from Win. The Wor Wonton soup is half the size the large use to be and I don't want to see what the small looks like. The chow mein wasn't as tasty as I remembered but it's my kids favorite dish so it passed for them. The worst dish was the chow fun. It was flavorless and I wasn't aware that if you ordered that dish the bamboo shoots were the main ingredient. Overuse of a filler and that's not right. I'd like noodles in my chow fun! Sesame chicken was very good but again pricey in comparison to other restaurants. I took out my leftovers tonight and it prompted me to write this review. First time here, Christmas Eve lunch. We were there 1st customers @ 12:30 for lunch. The place is pretty austere and cold in appearance and in temperature. We asked the server if they could turn on the heat and it was met with a silly little grin. Maybe he didn't understand. Needless to say we all ate w/our jackets on. He brought out the plates for our meal and they too were ice cold. So we all sat on our plates to warm them up, not kidding. They do have a very extensive menu of items to choose from. Overall the meal was really good, food HOT and plentiful. I wouldn't bother with the friend shrimp, only 8 on a plate and they looked like they came out of a package. I used to stop by here pretty regularly after getting a pedicure in the area, but after today, I won't be coming back. I ordered takeout through Yelp and didn't realize I had selected the meatless General Tso's until I saw the receipt at pickup. The meatless options are listed right at the top of the lunch specials, not clearly separated, and since this isn't a vegetarian-focused spot, I assumed it was regular chicken. When I asked if I could switch (without touching or taking the food), the staff member was a bit rude and said no. For the meat dishes, they weren't my all time favorite, from what I remember, but, their portions are more than enough especially for 1 person. Most recently I ordered for pickup 1 chicken chow mein and 1 order of crab rangoons and I was beyond satisfied with my meal! There was about 6 crab rangoons squished into a small takeout box, cabbage all over the place (could have better packaging) and the chow mein was filled to the tip top of the takeout box.
