I wish Yelp had half stars too. 2 Jack deserves more than 3 but less than 4. So I found this place on Yelp and checked out their pics on Yelp and Google. Saw that they had a card payment in one picture so I felt confident I could use mines. When I walked in after I called to order and there is a large sign inside, CASH only! So I asked where I could find the closest atm. And that was all the way up the block where muni runs. I'm going tell you this isn't the best hood it's on a sketchy block. That you just wanna get in and out of, being use to the hood I peeped that. Well after trying to find 3 different atms I finally got it and drove back down and picked up my fried snapper and fried solo. The fired fish has a flour cornmeal dredge that's not caked on but lightly breaded. Overall a decent spot for some fried fish

So Good hot and fresh from the cashier to the cook Nice and Helpful I will be back For more of the catfish and oysters also the burger was looking good the spot in small but the orders or big and hot

Very good food reasonable price Me and my family go here all the time and we love the food

I wish I can give 3.5 star and here is why. We phoned our order in and the staff was very kind and patient explaining the options. We arrived at the site and food was ready for pick up. All of them are patient and courteous to the customer. There is no seating inside the restaurant so everything is to go only. The food is average - Note that taste is a personal preference and I wish there was more seasoning, not necessarily salt but more flavor. There is also too much cornmeal breading for my taste. The portion is definitely big enough and justify the cost, just not my preference flavor wise.

I ordered the baja tacos to-go. They come with two fried fish tacos and a side salad. Ok the side salad has a simple but delicious vinegrette! This order was also so big I could've shared with another person. You would think two tacos and a small side salad is enough for one person but the tacos were HUGE! The service was great and attentive but most importantly they have FRESH & QUALITY seafood! They have salads, pastas, seafood boils, sandwiches and a decent kids menu. I had steamed mussels with fries. There were not enough mussels because they were huge and the sauce was more a broth and not at all flavorful enough. I usually love sopping up every last drop of the juice. But the really disappointing aspect of our dinner was the service. There were 3 people behind the service station. All of them need a training course on how to pay attention to paying customers. Instead they were all engrossed in private conversation with each other or with one particular customer. And one of the staff was simply intimidating, and very very loud. I suspected his behavior may have been chemically induced. Our waitress was very sweet, cheerful and helpful when we could catch her attention. But as I said a 15 minute training exercise each evening before starting work would work wonders. Like look around each customer every time you are not doing anything. And the more senior staff member was just uninterested and perhaps a little grumpy. So the food was blah, more flavor in the broth would help, and ok but at today's prices a "dinner out" has to be about more than just the food.

Prudently, I'd rather traverse from the peninsula on a random Monday for some Gumbo. To say that I was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. The gumbo was seasoned perfectly. I noticed that the chicken is shredded presumably from a pressure cooker, which turns every bite into a mouthful of everything. Despite my best efforts to not be dramatic, one can tell the passion and soul that is put into this bowl of Gumbo. Though I do see some comments, and I agree, that the Gumbo is not thick enough, I don't really care for a heavy/dense gumbo. This bowl has sufficient structure absent the heavy dense roux, and it was exactly to my liking. Though I wish there was a touch more rice, my $6 Caltrain ticket (+tax and muni) was not spent in vain for this heartwarming bowl of gumbo, with a side of passion, defining what real soul food is.

We walked over and had to wait about half an hour in line for a table just before noon. Another person agreed to join us last minute but the host made it clear that only full parties could be seated so we held up the line a little bit waiting for them to arrive. They took too long to find parking so we ended up dining without them. The atmosphere was very busy with a lot of the people waiting to be seated in line talking about how this is an SF staple. The weather was nice and we opted to eat outdoors. Service was friendly and quick once we were seated. I've never had geoduck and recently saw it on an episode of Masterchef so we had to get the geoduck ceviche. We also got 12 oysters to split, a mix of Kumamoto and Sweetwater since my personal preference is for sweet oysters. The geoduck ceviche had a unique spicy heat to it. Geoduck has a texture comparable to octopus, so if you're into octopus you might like geoduck. Matt and I both approved of the oysters. It's easy to dine quickly when you're eating seafood so we probably only spent 20 minutes or so seated. Eating oysters for your first meal of the day probably isn't the best move as we both felt a bit queasy afterwards, at no fault of the oysters themselves. I would be open to coming back but these were definitely oysters on the pricier side and I might only recommend to tourists looking to dine beside the water.

The staff was friendly, the vibes were great, and the noise level was perfect for a big celebration where everyone could still talk and enjoy themselves. We had a large party of about 22 people, and the drinks were flowing all night and came out great, which definitely helped keep the celebration fun. We all ordered appetizers and entrees at the same time. The appetizers came out quickly, but things became pretty spotty once the entrees started arriving. About a third of the table received their food well before everyone else. Most of us tried to wait until the whole table had their meals before eating, but the delays between dishes coming out were so long that some people's food started getting cold. Then more confusion started happening when the staff realized some of the plates being brought to us were actually meant for other tables. It seemed like there was quite a bit of confusion happening in the kitchen. They assured us our actual orders were still coming, but by that point food just kept appearing at the table. We ended up with dishes we never ordered, which honestly felt wasteful because nobody wanted to eat food intended for another table. Of course, once it had touched our table, it made sense they couldn't reserve it elsewhere. By the time everyone finally got their correct meals, some people were no longer hungry, especially after appetizers, drinks, and the long wait in between courses. A lot of food ended up getting packed up because the timing was just so off. It turned into a bit of a debacle for such a special occasion. That said, the atmosphere and overall celebration itself were still enjoyable, and I'm glad we came. I do think this may be a better spot for smaller groups rather than very large parties, as the food timing and service coordination seemed overwhelmed by the size of ours.
