BBQ Fried Rice - The fried rice was pretty classic in flavor, lightly savory from the soy sauce and mixed in with egg and BBQ pork. It was a good base to balance out the stronger chicken dish we got. The KFC boneless wings alone are a bit too sweet if you don't have a sweet tooth and also a bit savory but the best way to eat it is to pair it with some chicken fried rice. I heard a lot of good things about the Korean Fried Chicken here so I decided to order one order on the way home from work. Inside the restaurant, it looks like what you would expect from a classic Chinese restaurant. They were quick with my order and had it ready by the time I arrived. The portions are big. It overfilled the to go box. And by the time I got home, the chicken was still hot and the chicken still crispy. Flavor was delicious. Slightly sweet, slightly spicy. I was recommended this restaurant specifically for their Korean Chicken. We ordered takeout at the restaurant and received it surprisingly quickly in about 10 minutes. It smelled so good, it was challenging to not eat it while on the bus. It was about $14 for 10 wings/drumsticks so I'm quite satisfied with the portions. Upon arrival they seat you and give you a menu and it has a lot of classic Chinese dishes for such reasonable prices. We got their 8 piece potstickers for appetizers, which you can immediately tell how fresh and thoroughly pan fried they were opposed to other places reheating frozen dumplings. Their Korean chicken was delicious...it was crispy and marinated with their sweet spicy glaze. Lastly, their BBQ pork fried rice was good but the main star was the chicken we ordered. I appreciate how abundant and generous their portions are, typical family style size. Solid 3 star Chinese restaurant in the Mission. We had expected to eat here at 7:30p but they were already closing so got take out. They were patient with us getting and order in and the food came out fast! They had run out of the salt fried chicken so we ordered the Korean fried chicken and the regular fried chicken. Both were fried well and crispy. The Korean one was just slightly spicy and not too saucy. The regular ones were nicely salted and flavorful and juicy. We also got beef chow fun which was just standard but satisfied the Chinese food craving. No doubt, the BEST Chinese food in San Francisco. Been eating here most of my life since the grandma used to be the hostess. The tall gentleman (grandson I think) knew my order anytime I went no matter how long it was between visits. They stop serving food for a break between 2p-4p which sometimes hinders me from going when needing to beat the commute. Food is always fresh, hot, fulfilling, and prices can't be beat. This place is so good!! As I am sure you will or have seen from the other reviews, the Korean chicken is so good. For sure a staple at the restaurant. Its very crispy and good when eaten hot!! We go here when we're in the city just for this so Korean chicken. We normally get the boneless chicken but we have tried their bone-in chicken as well and it is also very good. I, however prefer the boneless for this dish. I also really enjoy their Pork Fried Rice. It is very flavorful. You can't go wrong. This time we ordered the beef and broccoli. I tried a few pieces and it was pretty good. My partner liked them a lot (I'm not a beef and broccoli fan in general so...) On June 9th we ordered alot of food from there. IT WAS SOOOO BAD, that I called down there to ask for the manager. What is one to do when freshly arrived in a new city, craving for some of that taste from back home? Just find some local fare of course! For decent prices, I was able to satisfy some of that with my order from Heung Yuen. I tried the Protein Combo Plate C ($8.50) which lets you choose an assortment of items; a protein and a base. The soup never came, so I was a bit disappointed in that (possibly issue on delivery provider side). Otherwise, the egg roll was really crispy and tasty, just what I wanted, the dough was not too thick either. The boneless Korean chicken was reallyyyy good! Nice and crispy, with a bit of a body still and a good portion. Flavourful as well with a bit of extra sauce to use with the noodles. For the base, I got Chow mein with chicken and bean sprouts. It was supposed to be beef, although this was okay as well, pretty standard fare. Also got the BBQ Pork fried rice ($6.50) which isn't bad if you're looking for just something filling, as it is a decent size portion for this price. I got the Combo C, which consist a seafood dish (under $13), I got the honey walnut shrimp, potstickers, and Chow mein. I enjoyed the Chow mein and potstickers, but I was a bit disappointed with the honey walnut shrimp, sadly I found the shrimp plain, with little to no breading or sauce on the shrimp, then again I'm not sure if they have a different style of making their honey walnut shrimp. Heung Yuen is still the same after all these years but now they offer 10% off with online ordering and the management has changed ownership but not the menu. This was my "hood" growing up. My mom managed the Filipino grocery store back in the late '70s and early '80s next door. We would order Heung Yuen's lunch specials at least twice a week when I helped my mom over the summers. Korean chicken was and still is very popular. This is probably their most requested dish! Haven't had anything elsewhere quite like it. We were in the area so I couldn't help myself. Heung Yuen will always hold sentimental value to me. I had to order some Korean chicken and shrimp! I placed my order online and you are given a number when you submit your order. Once you arrive, there is a man waiting at the window and brings your food to you due to social distancing guidelines. The new norm for now. I love sharing food stories with my kids as we ate these sticky sweet pieces of nostalgia.
