Me and my mom used to go here all the time, that was pre-Covid. The food was always a hit! Just recently went back, and the food was mediocre. It took about an hour for the food to come out, and it wasn't very busy as it was a Wednesday night at 6:30. The dish I got didn't taste all that great, and when I brought it up to our waitress and kindly asked for it to be taken off our bill because I had hardly touched it, a guy came up behind me with no introduction who he was, and it felt like he was talking at me. I was trying to be nice because I have family in the food service industry, but it felt like he was right and I was wrong and that was the end of story. No room for me to interject my opinion. Service was good. Food was awful. The sushi tastes really bad compared to Dao which is 1 block away. Save yourself a disappointing trip here and go to Dao. The steak and chicken with brown rice was horrible. The sauce on it was atrocious . Hair in my food as well. read more

I ordered a simple take-out meal from this restaurant. When I picked up my order, two servers were stationed at the host desk to give me my food. I asked if there were utensils. They both said yes, there were. Unfortunately, since the bag was stapled in three places and I had a 15-minute walk ahead of me, I trusted that what they told me was correct. 15 minutes later, at my hotel, I discovered no utensils. When I called the restaurant, I was placed on a long hold, before a very rude manager named Stephen came on the phone. He accused me of being in a "he said, she said" with the servers. He spoke over me repeatedly, projecting emotions on me that I didn't have, nor had I expressed. "I know you're really upset, ma'am," he kept saying, in a very pedantic tone. Finally, he agreed to refund my order since I had no way of eating it and it was now cold, anyway. As I was typing this review, I received a phone call from another manager named Mark, who was not calling to help me, but to let me know that it was my fault for not ordering utensils on their website. (Fact check: this is not even an option through the company's ordering system.) He told me I had to go seek out utensils at the hotel I'm staying in, laughing, saying, "What kind of hotel are you staying at?" When I tried to respond, Mark spoke over me, just like Stephen had. I interrupted and asked to be heard and explained that I didn't see an option to order utensils, and asked what his point was in calling me back -- just to let me, the customer, know I was wrong? I paused to wait for him to speak, and as if he were a bitter ex-boyfriend, he snottily asked if it was okay for him to speak yet. "You told me I couldn't speak," he snidely, replied. "Remember?" He then laughed at me incredulously when I asked whether they had any customer service training there. As he doubled-down on his "not speaking because I told him not to game," I told him I was not going to continue the call. I asked whether he refunded me for the order, and he laughed again and said, "Of course not!" Forgetting utensils is one thing. To call a service-oriented establishment looking for support, only to be bullied by two "managers" with a mission of making me wrong, instead of rectifying the problem, is something I could never have anticipated. I definitely do not recommend a visit to Wok n Fire - nor crossing paths with anyone supposedly empowered to support customers and treat them with respect. read more

The Maki Rolls were very good and they go on special during happy hour. Try the St. Charles roll - it is deep fried, but too good not to try at least once. The tuna salad was excellent - it is made with grilled sushi grade tuna! They are also on Open Table which makes getting a reservation very easy with the smart phone app. They also have specials on Sunday - so stop by check those out. Keep a look out for Wok N Fire Groupon - they are a great deal at such a quality restaurant! Came here for dinner with my wife and friends last night. The service is great as always, but the quality is definitely better than it was. My wife and I had the teriyaki chicken with a California and jumbo spider roll. First off, their portion sizes have increased noticeably since the last time I've been here, but the prices have not. The food was always good, but I was never a fan of their sushi. I'm not sure if they changed their ingredients or recipes but the sushi last night was amazing. Definitely fresh and made with high quality ingredients. The sushi quality was comparable to RA Sushi, which is one of my favorite sushi places. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner. They have lunch specials and the last time I was here for lunch there weren't many people. For dinner it's usually more packed but it's not too loud and the atmosphere is good for a family dinner, small party, or a date. Everyone in my party ordered what felt like too much because we were expecting smaller portions. Overall only complaint is that our waitress forgot to bring my friend's take out box but it's a minor issue considering she was the one convincing him to take 2 pieces of sushi home in the first place, because he was that full. I normally don't like "trendy" kinds of restaurants, but someone needs to take a whole bunch of asian restaurants to this place so they can understand what a proper piece of chicken tastes like. I got the sweet and spicy chicken, and the spinach egg drop soup. The food was outstanding. Happy hour drinks were... well, obviously driven by the liquor companies pushing their vodka, but hey, it is what it is. Normally this was one of our favorites. This past weekend we were extremely disappointed. The table, floors and menus (not even enough for everyone at the table) were all so sticky, it was gross and clearly not cleaned properly. The booth had food from the previous guests left on the seat. The restaurant was under staffed, food took forever and was not the quality we were used to from there. Went here tonight with my 2 daughters who were craving sushi. As with most places in the area, parking was the biggest hurdle. Once inside we thought the atmosphere was great. It's like 3 separate places with a bar area, up front high tops looking out the windows and a very nice dining area with tables or booths with 8 foot backs. Very comfortable and private feeling. We had Crab Rangoon and Dumplings for apps and each of us had a specialty roll. Spider Roll, Black Widow and Spicy Tuna. We enjoyed them so much we ordered a second round to split - Smoked Salmon Nigiri and Philadelphia Roll. Everything was fresh and delicious and presented beautifully. We will definitely go back. We texted to join their club and get info on specials as well as $10 off next visit. They have an "all you can eat" sushi special for lunch (cheaper) and dinner M- Th. The service is awesome they are very attentive. However the food is tasteless. No seasoning the kitchen is just pushing the dishes out. They can't be tasting the food. The Rising Sun was actually really good. It had a good flavor and wasn't watered down. The Drunken Ginger Ale fell short. Waaayy too much ice which quickly waters down the drink. I felt like I was going to choke on a rice ball. Places I've gone to are extremely fresh which makes eating the sushi a delightful experience. Wok n' Fire wasn't bad but it wouldn't be my first place to go for sushi. I live in Bridgeport which is close to Chinatown. Like I said before, I know good sushi and this place isn't on the level. As far as the noodle dishes go, we all shared all little bit off of each others plates and it wasn't great. It was definitely something I could do at home. I hated that the sauce was more like something they just poured on top rather than cooked inside the noodles. It's hard for me to explain. All I can say is if you've ever had Lo Mein before, it's less sauce but they season everything with the noodles and veggies. That's how the food should have been prepared. What happened??? My first time back since pre-Covid and couldn't have been more disappointed. I get that things have changed since the big days of the pandemic.... 1. had to beg for a menu. Apparently they prefer you to scan code on your phone. When the menu was provided it was 8 1/2 x 11 typed paper put in a thin plastic sleeve. All the sleeves were sticky and one of the menus had some leftover crumbs on it. I needed a hand sanitizer after touching it. Ugh! 2. My order of Mongolian Beef had, literally, about 5 small slices of beef. And I mean really small! The rest was loaded with sliced carrots and onions. Pre-Covid this order would come in a big bowl with a nice amount of beef. Heavily coated with a teriyaki sauce which was VERY sweet. 3. My companion only ordered fried rice which looked like it was dumped on the plate in a huge mass. No garnish (parsley? cilantro? etc) to make it look attractive. 4. Ordered espresso which was on the menu but told they don't have it - only coffee. This may explain why, on a Friday night, there were only 3 other dining tables occupied.....the rest of the restaurant was empty. The service, however, was very good. Went here on a wednesday night, they were so busy that everything literally took a while. The manager/server apologized several times, we ordered a ramen, pho and curry soup. My dad said the noodles on his pho was too mushy that it's hard to pick up with a fork, mine and my mom's where ok. A great spot of coming for happy hour, a quick meal, or sit-down dinner! All of their ahi tuna dishes are amazing- I love the tuna rolls and tuna poke appetizer. The tuna is always so fresh and flavorful. Other rolls we love are the crunchy roll and Saint Charles roll. For entrees, everything I've ever had is delicious. Modern - Trendy - Hip atmosphere! This restaurant is tucked away in the outdoor mall area in Burr Ridge. If it wasn't for Groupon, I probably wouldn't have found this hidden gem. This last visit, I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, crazy roll, and spicy tuna roll. The lettuce wraps were a huge portion. Seriously, to be split between 2-3 people - or as a meal in itself. I had $30 to use up on my Groupon, so I thought I would try something other than sushi. I would highly recommend the lettuce wraps - great flavor! Both rolls were solid and fresh. This was my 3rd second visit to Wok n Fire. This time the waitress was less than thrilled to be waiting on us. The server never introduced herself and was providing the minimal service...take order and drop off food. My silverware wrapped in a napkin was filthy - off-putting. The food was typical, nothing outstanding. I had a couple of maki rolls and my husband had the pad Thai. We shared egg rolls, which were served crispy & hot. They were good. My first experience with this place was not the greatest. As we walked in the lobby there was no one standing at the front desk to greet us. It was around 10 minutes later a young gentleman rushed to the front area and seemed surprised to see us. He was not terribly friendly and didn't bother saying hello. He just grabbed menu's and escorted us outside to dine. It looked like a slow night. Not off to a great start. As far as the meal goes, the sushi is probably the worst I ever had. Super, super fishy tasting. I couldn't eat it. The Chicken Pad Thai, however, was very good. Dao down the street is one of my favorite Sushi places. This place is no match. Just average.
