It was our first time trying this restaurant and were excited because the menu sounded great and for the price expected exceptional dishes. Unfortunately, everything we ordered was sub par to utterly inedible. The tofu lettuce cups came with lettuce with dirt still on it. That was still alright - our server just brought us more lettuce which atleast did not have visible dirt. For $16, the veggie sushi roll tasted just average. The chicken fried rice was bland and tasteless. The panang curry noodle bowl was the most disappointing - the broth had a very fishy smell and taste while the noodles did not have any taste at all. But I guess you have to let them know when you are there, bc it doesn't seem like they read the special notes. We ordered a few speciatly and regular rolls, sashimi and basil chow fun with steak. A couple of orders from the kids menu-teriyaki noodles and orange chicken. A great place, noisy though. And dark. But I like the sushi options and the food was pretty tasty. Fantastic Happy Hour from 4-7 allowed me to sample The Satay Chicken, Beef Kabobs, Spring Rolls, and Spider Roll a HALF PRICE in the bar area, and they were all fantastic quality and presentation. Service was very prompt and professional. A mysteriously large portion of cabbage salad was a bit strange, and not terribly good, but who orders Satay to sample the side of slaw? I've ordered from here before but I found my favorite dish... the tuna crisp! I normally do not like seared tuna, I prefer completely raw. This I will make an exception for. I thought it would be soggy by the time it arrived but it was very crunchy and the jalapeño was so spicy and delicious! Will order this again! Went in recently because I heard they were under new management after not going for several months. Their new manager was absolutely wonderful. This place is basically a Stir Crazy with sushi added. Many of the items on the menu are exactly the same or some old menu items. Yah my girlfriend manages a Stir Crazy as you could have guessed. The entrees are decent but the sushi is usually really good. Its a bit on the pricey side but they do some very reasonable happy hour specials. As far as the rolls go all of the signature rolls are consistently some of the better ones Ive had outside of a traditional sushi place. The inky and the mamma's roll are worth checking out. The downside is the entrees are just average and it feels like a nightclub more than a restaurant inside. There is color changing lighting that just doesn't fit the cuisine. Basically this place is almost trying to hard to fit in. Get some good sushi at a traditional place and go to Stir Crazy to get the original dishes. You will be happier in end. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night where they had a Girls' Night Out special from 4pm-9pm for $5 Martinis and 1/2 off specialty maki rolls. Made a reservation at 7 and was seated immediately. We picked out the Inky and Papa's Choice Makis but wasn't sure which to pick for the third roll. The waitress suggested the St. Charles since it's one of their most popular rolls and it was a great recommendation since it was my favorite out of the three! It was fried on the outside with shrimp and other stuff in the center and it tasted like fried shrimp with a twist. The rice was soft and came out fresh. I asked for extra ginger and they gladly added a large portion for me. Although the waitress checked on us a few times in the beginning of the meal, she lacked attention towards the end, hence minus one star. I had to ask another server for water and the check. I've been here on 2 occasions, plus one take out. Nothing to rave out, and nothing to disregard, either. So, average at best. I always go for Mongolian Beef, or Chicken lo main. I always like Kung Pao chicken too, no peanuts. I like very spicy Mongolian beef which I stressed and they certainly heard, and presto, it was very spicy. They give you what you ask for. No high marks or extra stars because the food just isn't that tasty, that's all. Food is fresh, they listen, it's clean and servers are friendly. The food is just average. Amazing food! Prices are a little steep but all worth it. Place is very intimate and has versatile seating arrangements. The booths are family friendly as the back of the booths are very high which gives you privacy as you enjoy dinner. Lots of decor! Outdoor seating as well. Staff is friendly and cool. Only downside was we had previously prepared the waiter of a friends birthday which included the dessert and the singing but were ignored on all three requests they forgot about us and had us kind of hanging there. read more

We're always looking for good sushi spots and this was a hit! The sushi was amazing and had great presentation. We tried the Tequila Jalapeño roll, St. Charles roll, Vegas roll, and the Yum Yum roll and they were all incredible. The spicy jalapeño margarita was delicious! Good: Love so many of their rolls-- Las Vegas is tasty..spicy tuna is an excellent go-to and is really good here. Their tuna poke app is my absolute favorite menu item. And, my kids love their shrimp fried rice which is a huge side order for around $6-- can't beat that for price. They also have good happy hour deals, but we usually end up ordering drinks not included in happy hour (well played, Wok 'N Fire). Bad: Overall really pricey. I also really hate that they put hot food and sushi together in the same take out bag when you order food to go. Basic food safety knowledge should be shared with those packing to go orders (guessing it is the super young host staff). Don't put raw seafood in a container on top of super hot food and then staple the bag shut-- so gross. I'd like to say this is isolated, but it isn't. I've been to Wok n Fire numerous times over the years, both for dine in and carry out. I agree with a few Yelpers, that you need to try this place for yourself to get a better idea. In my personal opinion, everything here, from the service to the food, is hit or miss. I've had the best Thai red curry here, as well as the worst. I've had some incredible service at the bar or cocktail area, but terrible service at the tables/seated area. Pros: -Their happy hour is KILLER. So much fun for an after-work get together. -They provide vegan options (then again, so do plenty of Thai or Japanese restaurants). -The atmosphere is trendy and well suited for the theme. Cons: -Again, food and service are both toss ups. -Sushi has gone WAY downhill. -They are way too strict with their coupons/redemption. So what if I would rather take my food to go?! I can't use my Groupon then? That doesn't make sense. -On the occasions I've had unpleasant service with my carry out orders, management was uncooperative and unwilling to assist in my likeliness to return. I was supposed to receive my money back in the form of cash for an incorrect carry out order(allergy), but never received it. After a few emails, I never received anything back. My suggestion? Take care of your issues in person. Manager seems a bit flaky. read more

Burr Ridge and surrounding burbs do not go to Wok 'n Fire at Burr Ridge Village Center for to go. Tonight am attending a concert at the center and wanted a bite to eat. Decided to go to Wok as it was the closest. Asked for a to go menu. Was told they have none but to order off main menu. So I ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer. Was told it would be 20 minutes. Thought this a long time but said ok. This was at about 6:20 pm. After about 25 minutes asked about it. The same person that took my order asked again what I had. Then it got to be almost 7 pm. I asked again same guy asked again what I had. Repeated. Said it's coming out. Got vocal and said if I don't get I want my money back. Then out it came on a serving dish not packed to go. And then he asked again you had the appetizer right not the dinner? By this time, i was livid. I got quite vocal and informed him. It was to go. He then took a minute or so to pack it. This review was from my FB posting. Photo would not post -- about 5 pieces of shrimp -- longest one about 3" only about a quarter inch in diameter - this appetizer was definitely a "bite" not an appetizer!!! I've eaten many times at the Wok 'n Fire in Elmhurst, but I've only been to the Burr Ridge one a couple of times. They seem like such completely different places. The Burr Ridge one is so overdecorated with its giant bells, dragons and changing neon colors. The decor is completely distracting when you're trying to enjoy a meal. I feel more like I'm in some tacky nightclub than a restaurant. The food is similar, but somehow the chefs in Elmhurst make things better. I've had the noodle dishes, and while good, they aren't blow-me-away good like in Elmhurst. But this past weekend was the first time we tried their sushi. It's expensive, so you expect to either get really high quality or a lot. I got neither. What I ended up with were basically wagon-wheels of rice with just a tiny bit of filling in the middle. And the quantity of pieces was on the smaller side of what I'm used to as well. Disappointing. My wife and I ordered 4 rolls total, and one of them was just a dessert roll and our bill was over $40. I will NOT be going back here next time the sushi craving hits. Too overpriced for what you get. read more

The decor was perfect for sushi. Very authentic and tasteful...And very clean!! We walked right in and were seated immediately.
