Reviewed menu ahead of time and saw many seafood items. Went for our 25th anniversary and ordered the shrimp scampi. Worst I ever had. My husband ordered crab cakes. We had them cater my son's destination wedding. The food was phenomenal and the staff were the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Ashley was easy and friendly to work with. She was thoughtful and helpful when a change needed to be made to the menu. There was more than enough food for the guests and everything was fresh and hot which isn't always the case when attending a wedding that offers a buffet dinner. Best food we had the entire trip! I can't get enough of their hush puppies!! We loved the food so much the night prior at their Orange Beach location that we decided to give this one a try. The draft beer selection is much smaller, but the food was just as delicious! Our server, Erin, was so kind and attentive. The prices are reasonable and the portions are very large. We've had a couple good experiences the filet was cooked perfectly MR, shrimp and grits were good, the royal Red shrimp were awesome as was the crab legs. I would avoid the blackened scallops they were tiny, over cooked and cold but everything else was good. The lobster bisque soup and gumbo were also both very good. read more

Wolf Bay Lodge used to be my favorite place to eat. In the last ten years, the quality of the food has gone way down, and the prices have gone way up. The gumbo is purchased pre-made, not made in house anymore. The seafood doesn't taste fresh like it used to, and all of the portions are small. I have never been to this restaurant until today, but I had a great experience. I sat at the bar around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and ordered from their lunch menu. Their bartender, Heather, helped me choose my wine and my lunch and she guided me in the right direction. I loved my wine and the fish tacos were delicious! I really enjoyed my experience not just for the food but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the bartender was so nice and helpful and extremely hard working. I'll be returning again! read more

We came because Lamberts wait was far too long. As we come to Foley regularly (Florida locals) we decided to change our eating to Wolf Bay.....GREAT decision! I was so impressed with this restaurant! While the room we dined in really didn't look like much, everything else was perfect. Our waitress was extremely friendly and efficient. I ordered the Captain's Platter, which was an INSANE amount of food for a ridiculously good price. The quality of the meal was the biggest surprise to me. This was by far the best seafood I've ever had IN MY LIFE, and I live in Destin. My mind was blown. My mother also found a pearl in her fried oysters, so that was fun. We stopped during the summer on a busy Friday and they let us know the wait was long and kept us informed. The wait was long but it was so worth it because the food was amazing . The waiter came to our table right away and did let us know food would take a little while because they were so busy. We ordered some calamari to start and we also got a trip to the salad bar. We arrived and were told it would be a 25-30 min wait. After waiting for nearly 50 min our pager finally goes off and we go to the hostess stand and were walked into the dining room to be told our table wasn't ready and we'd have to go back to wait. Another 15 min we get to our table to wait 10 min for someone to get our drink order. We didn't get our food until 2 hours after arriving at the restaurant. I made eye contact with the manager several times but he never came by to check on us or ask how our meal was. He was the one who made the hostess take us back so he knew we had been there for a long time. This was also a Thursday night in early May which is slow season so I'd hate to see how they handle peak tourist season. The food was average for seafood at the beach but nothing worth 2 hours of wait time. As a frequent visitor to the area I will not be visiting again. read more

I was coming through town on business and REALLY enjoyed my stop at Wolf Bay Lodge. I wanted a "surf and turf", so I had the ribeye and a side order of the fried shrimp. Since it is , primarily, a seafood place; I did not have high expectations for the steak. But I was wrong. The ribeye was fabulous and cooked exactly medium-rare. The shrimp were really nice too. You could tell that they were fresh. My only "complaint" was that their cocktail sauce is a little more horseradish-happy than I care for. And Happy Hour draft beer for a dollar? That makes everything better. I will be visiting again. If I could give it four-and-a-half stars, I would. read more

I could have looked past the 40 minute wait, this place was just one huge disappointment especially as a local. The food was average, fish was over cooked and dry, it was extraordinarily overpriced for the tiny amount I got.... by the way here a "seafood platter" means a small plate with just enough food to feed a small child and leave an adult hungry. I highly recommend the buffalo shrimp. They are spicy though. It is quite a large pile of shrimp; so sharing would be a good idea.

Started with a cup of gumbo, which we all sampled and thought was excellent. The roux was nice and dark, just the right amount of spice, with lots of shrimp. The salad bowl was on the small size, but the salad bar was good. The usual salad fixings and coleslaw; the blue cheese dressing was house made and very chunky--just the way I like it. My seafood pasta had a creamy Cajun sauce, penne pasta and lots of scallops and shrimp--it was delicious. My companions got the grilled shrimp po'boy--big and good; the beef medallion special--she said it had no seasoning and was way too bland; and the grilled whitefish special, which I believe had the same Cajun cream sauce as my pasta--she enjoyed it as well. Service was efficient, and our waitress offered drinks to go when it was time to leave. Will be back next time I'm in the area. read more

I ordered the lobster chowder expecting it to be like any other I've had before. Nowhere in the description did it say there was ham in it. I do not have an allergy to ham, but I am pretty much pescatarian not by choice but because meat makes me very sick and causes painful digestive issues for me. This is not the fault of the server by any means. She was very nice. But not including major ingredients like this in the description (as you do with every other dish) is a huge oversight. This is how lawsuits happen. Again, the server was great, but whoever drew up this menu has no sense. Who puts ham in lobster chowder in the first place?? And even if you do, put it in the DESCRIPTION. read more

We called ahead and asked to be placed on the waiting list......we had 8 in our party, but that shouldn't take over an hour to accommodate. We were told that it would be a 30 minute wait. Ive ate here before. You are better served driving to the causeway or Pensacola or back to the beach and eat. I just left Wolf Bay for the 3rd time without leaving a tip! The food is great but the service is awful! Do they not realize customers in the 60+ range have more disposable income than any other demographic group? I have been ignored there so many times! Tonight, my drink was empty for 18 minutes the first time, 12 minutes the 2nd time, I had to ASK to have it refilled (at $10 a pop)! I waited 13 minutes to catch servers attention to ask for butter for my now cold potato. Then it was 17 minutes after I was done before I was asked if I wanted a check! I tip good when I eat out but I will no longer tip to be overlooked. Go somewhere they appreciate and value your patronage. read more

We've had dinner at the Wolf Bay Lodge twice -- the first time, we had a large fried oyster platter -- well prepared and very tasty. On our second visit, my husband and I had the broiled crab-stuffed flounder which was disappointing. The crab meat filling was very bland and the fish wasn't very flavorful either, although it was a large portion. We've found several other seafood places we prefer, but would definitely choose fried oysters or shrimp over the broiled fish if we return to Wolf Bay. read more

I finally decided on grilled flounder only to be told that haven't had that for months. Well, why is it on the menu? I ordered a different grilled fish but it was so overseasoned as to be almost inedible. It was spicy even though I didn't order blackened and the spices tasted raw as if they were added at the end of cooking. The sweet potato was cooked in foil so it was more steamed than baked, making it a soggy mess. I ended up just eating crackers off the salad bar. Worst $22 I've spent in a long time.
