My husband and I stopped at Wolf Bay on our drive back home. We thought the food was delicious and fresh. I had the Ahi tuna salad and he had the Ahi tuna sandwich....both were delish!! All of our food was good. Although the salad bar can't be open due to Covid they still had someone there to make your salad for you so you could still have what you wanted. There was plenty of spacing and servers wore masks. Our waitress was great! read more

Preface: I grew up in southern Alabama so I may be a little biased, but I'm going to try and give a fair review. Review: There are two Wolf Bay Lodge restaurants in lower Alabama: one, which is located in Foley, and the other is located in Orange Beach. I have never had the pleasure of eating at the Orange Beach location, but if it's anything like its Foley counterpart, then I can assure you it won't be a disappointing experience. Going to this restaurant is a family tradition for most people around the Foley/Elberta area. And just like most people, my family goes here about once a month. My sister and I always get the seafood platter; my mother gets the bisque; and my father gets the fried chicken. Most entrees come with a trip to the salad bar, which might just be my favorite part. The salad bar has plethora of meats, vegetables, and dressings. Ham, pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, jalapenos, cheeses; you name it, they have it! The seafood platter comes with fried shrimp, crab cakes, fried fish, and fried oysters. The stuffing in the crab is delicious and plentiful. The fish and the shrimp are good but also comparable. But the oysters are what make me order this entree every time I go to this restaurant. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It is so fresh and so good! Also, if you are a fan of cocktail sauce, then you're going to the right place. I eat all my seafood with cocktail sauce and the sauce and Wolf Bay is unparalleled. The fried chicken platter is good and come with a lot of chicken (and if I'm not mistaken, two sides: mashed potatoes, fries, etc.). The bisque is unbelievable and definitely something you have to try if you're a fan of this soup. All in all, this is a great restaurant. The staff is full of simple country folk, who are sincere and friendly. I love the atmosphere and family feel of the restaurant. The restaurant is a little pricey if you're getting seafood, but I think it's worth it (especially compared to the other seafood restaurants in this area). Try and make a trip out to Wolf Bay Lodge; the wait will be worth it! read more

When you approach the front doors there's a sign that says they are short staffed and please have patience. The staff was working so hard and no one seemed to be waiting for anything. Our wait was less the five minutes during lunch rush hour. Our waiter Matthew was fast, friendly and made recommendations for my wife. The salad bar was very clean and well stocked. We both ordered seafood that was fried to perfection with a light batter. Portions were very generous and reasonably priced. Matthew was attentive to our table throughout our meal. Short Story: Good meal, plentiful portions, well prepared, LOOONG wait. Long Story: Took a family group of 6 here for dinner on a recommendation from a local. We arrived at 6pm on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The parking lot was mostly empty, but we had to wait an hour for a table. The restaurant has a decent sized gift shop which definitely seems more suited to the ladies. After being seated we were promptly waited on by our server. Drinks came out quickly and we were all ready to order. Unfortunately they were out of Tripletail which is what my wife and I really wanted to try. It would have been nice if this were posted on a board or if we had been told when we were seated. We scrambled to find something else on the menu. My wife went with Blackened Grouper and I ordered Grilled Snapper. Our table also ordered the Wolf Bay Seafood Platter and the New York Strip steak special for the night. Several people have raved about the salad bar, but I did not think it was anything special. It had a decent selection of items, but nothing special. I did like that sliced bell pepper was available. One odd item was whole radishes. I would think for a salad you would want these sliced, but maybe that is a regional thing. The food came out pretty quickly. The portions were large. The Grouper and Snapper were both well cooked. The Grouper was blackened and could have used a bit more blackening seasoning even by my wife's standards. The Snapper was grilled and honestly didn't look much different than the blackened fish, which is to say that it was well seasoned, but the blackened fish obviously needed more. The Wolf Bay Seafood Platter was your standard fare of fried food. My son-in-law said it was all good. My daughter's steak was well cooked, well seasoned, and a good cut. As a side several people got baked sweet potatoes which came with a butter, brown sugar, cinnamon mixture on the side. They enjoyed those and I enjoyed my regular baked potato. Overall the meal was just a good, satisfying meal. There was nothing that made it stand out, but it was tasty and everyone was full when we left. read more

Let's start with the DELICIOUS food - all of our dishes were cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned, very fresh, served piping hot. This was the best restaurant meal I've had in a long time. The service was also fantastic! There was such attention paid to getting our orders right. We were right by the kitchen and got to observe all of the kitchen staff doing a wonderful job with very clean techniques. I mention this because I have super high standards for cleanliness and I was marveling the whole time at how great and clean the kitchen was running. The food is extremely overpriced for what you're receiving. Steaks are decent, but $10 above what they should be. The flagship seafood is a spectacular disappointment. Stuffed crab is served on tinfoil, and I struggled to find actual crab meat. Oysters miss the mark. The saving grace was the fried fish on the "famous" seafood platter, but not even that could save this meal. Tasty lunch with my grandparents! We started with the cha cha dip which was great- creamy and slightly sweet. The pita chips were awesome too, light and crunchy. Had the seafood platter for the main course. Omg oysters were off the hook. Perfectly fried. Shrimp were fried in what I think is cracker meal, lighted breaded and also great texture. I had the fat tire IPA with my entree and was a little disappointed in the taste. Draught seemed flat. Overall we had a great meal. Our waitress Debbie was very attentive. This place was a huge disappointment. We had to return one meal because the grilled fish was extremely "fishy" and was obviously bad. The other fish dishes were fried fish and seemed to taste great, except one of my friends was sick all night. My other fiends had a stomach ache the rest of the night but never actually got sick. I was fine, but I would not recommend this place. In addition to the food being below par, the wait staff seemed to be miserable and wanted to be any place but there. I don't think I saw our waiter smile once. Overall, bad experience and will not return. Monday night and the place is empty but taking 15 minutes for a bushwacker. Never had such horrible service. Our bartender sat and made conversation with another bartender sitting down , while we waited at an empty bar. Her name is Lisa. When we were leaving I asked for a bag for leftovers. she handed me a bag of trash. A plastic bag of trash..she was trashed obviously and was forgetful and claimed she worked there 4 years. Decided to try this restaurant on the way home from gulf shores. When I read they had gulf shrimp and scallops, I was sold. Unfortunately they are frozen and you can tell, I would think this close to the beach they'd be fresh. Zero seasoning, bland and over cooked. gumbo Is very tomatoey, not tasty and not what I expect from seafood restaurants. I should have read the reviews before stopping in. Mutiple people told us to go to Wolf Bay Lodge. So we did just that. It was late afternoon about 2 hours before the dinner rush and the restaurant was already busy! To me that was a great sign.
