I'm usually not a fan of super chain restaurants, but I can not get over how great my Wolfgang experience was. Our server was so nice, I wish I'd gotten his name. He made sure our work birthday lunch outing was well celebrated. Haven't had a good service in such a long time. The salads were both great for a lighter lunch, whereas the burger was massive. My favorite dish though is definitely the lobster Mac & cheese. Every time I've gone it's been great. The dessert variety also always makes somewhere my kinda place to be. read more

Mixed Experience on Christmas Eve Review: My son and I visited Wolfgang Steakhouse for our Christmas Eve dinner. Despite advanced reservations, we were seated in the back. The street view was nice, but service was lacking - infrequent waiter visits, delays between courses, and no offer for additional drinks. Have been here several times for dinners and I enjoyed my food every time (always ordered salads & fish dishes, never steaks though). But it was a big disappointment when I had a lunch here for the first time the other day. We were a party of 7, my friends mostly ordered steak sandwiches or fish n chips, and I got myself a salad. We unanimously said "it was okay". Nothing special. Somewhat chewy meats, overcooked fries, bland salad.... definitely not worth the price. The positive is the service, servers were great! And the whole place was pretty empty so it was nice and quiet, which I can imagine why. Not going back, at least for lunch... maybe a good place to go for the happy hour. read more

What a disappointing experience for my first/last time at Wolfgang's. I really doubt that I will return. The food: Bland is the main word I would use. Any steakhouse with a ketchup based steak sauce on the table shouldn't be charging $200/steak. My Caesar salad had no dressing, had to get extra sauce on side. Steamed broccoli was just that, steamed broccoli like out of the bag with no seasoning. The Tomahawk was pretty bad, worst on island. It came cut, they seared the pieces to overcook them, I've never seen this done, it was terrible, it didn't look like it was even the same pieces they cut from the bone. For $200, I expect a much better seasoned and prepared Tomahawk. The Tiramisu was great. The old fashioned was great. The servers that helped us were very nice, great people, and very friendly. I do like that they're doggy friendly on the outside patio area but it can be a little hot during lunch time and we're starting to feel the summer heat in May! luckily theres huge umbrellas for some shade at the least. Reservations were easy on opentable. She already knew it was us since i've also noted i'll be coming with a dog. The restaurant itself is at royal hawaiian shopping center on the third floor, tucked away in the back so i wonder if they dont get much foot traffic in the building. They didnt seem very busy on the weekend as i noticed there was only one other diner there inside during lunch. Service was really friendly and they were really quick with the food too. Their breakfast items look promising so maybe i'll try that another day, but i've come here before in the past for dinner. This is a review on service as after waiting 30min we opted to leave. We had a 7:30pm reservation, we checked in at 7:25pm we confirmed we preferred inside seating. At this time, there was no mention of any delays or extra wait time we were just offered to wait outside or in the bar. We opted to wait at the bar and were surprised to find very weathered crack seats at the inside bar, as this is a well established name and the worn barstool was a surprising find. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender Kevin or Gavin. I might not completely remember his name, but he was super friendly, very knowledgeable and very attentive to us as we waited. He delivered our drinks with a great flare and an amazing laugh. After a bit he offered us a menu so that we know by the time we were seated what we would be ordering for the dinner. To be honest he kept us engage we hardly notice 30min had gone by. At 7:55pm after waiting to be seated I checked the host stand and asked how much longer, all they said so sorry we are really busy. I requested they removed my name and cancel my reservation and we went down the street to Ruth Chris Steakhouse where our experience was 100% better than what we had at Wolfgang's. read more

Based on happy hour experience only. Will update if and when we go back for lunch or dinner menu. Sat at bar and the bartender was either have a bad day or hated her job or both. Several patrons were waiting to be checked out. She was very short with everyone. Even some who saw how busy she was trying to be nice and make small talk and she just brushed them off. Overall, that was very much distasteful. The food itself was okay. We got drinks, margarita and martini which were made quickly and deliciously, but same bartender so appreciate her efficiency. We got the seafood combo and not worth the cost. Small pieces of crostini and a large salad in the middle. Ahi tuna was delicious but the lobster and other was just so so. No dress code. They had a Hawaiian fish special that day (cannot recall the name of that fish, sorry!) And the flavors were okay but the fish itself was dry. I already knew this fish tends to be on a drier side, but was curious if they could make it better. I don't recommend it anyways. Writing this review because I was very astonished on how the service was. (Context: from San Francisco eaten at Alexanders, Mortons, Niku, etc.) Before booking, I read a lot of conflicting reviews. Booked on Open Table the day of, wrote 'anniversary' in the notes and they were very accommodating. Food was amazing! Prime Rib, enough for two. Rare. Awesome portions with sides. Drinks are strong, but tolerable. The vibe was very nice. My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Geena and Danny. Super on top of everything. Water, drinks, updates. Also, holding a conversation. I think that's what a lot of restaurants lack, personalization and character. We got to know Geena and we got amazing recommendations from Danny. Come to find out, Geena is a bartender, just helping out on the floor. Thank you for the dessert(s) --- wife loved it! I'll start with the punchline - they couldn't cook a $200 tomahawk steak. We ordered it medium rare and it came out looking boiled with NO SEAR. It looked disgusting. They also cut it up and it wasn't pink it was boiled looking. They said they put the pieces on the grill. No idea why, it wasn't seared. Waited 15 minutes for my server to appear to let him know and he says "do you want us to remake it?" as if we would want to eat a $200 steak like that? By the time they brought us a new one, everyone else was cold. The mood was over. It wasn't worth reordering all the sides and waiting again. The new steak was undercooked and also not seared. How does a steakhouse not know how to make a steak? We didn't order it any different than one would expect. The server was also terrible and rude. He brought a slice of cheesecake "to-go" as if that should make up for it. We don't even like cheesecake, at least ask me what I like if you plan to offer something. We spent $400 and didn't even enjoy a meal. We enjoyed a few sides and then a decent steak later by itself. No manager came over at any point. We were visiting and have a 5 month old baby. This was our first night out in a date night in over 6 months. We got a sitter. We were excited to be out. We are visiting from CA. We should have picked somewhere else. Ate here for a weekday lunch with business colleagues. I don't usually dine in Waikiki due to the inflated prices, but someone else was paying so why not. Parking was in the Royal Hawaiian Center's garage, and after going up a few levels we found an opening. On the topic of parking, make sure you get your ticket validated. Wolfgang's seating area seemed very large and inviting. There were only a few other tables occupied, so despite having a reservation I don't think there would have been any issue with getting seated without one. The hostess that greeted us was not very friendly. I've had better receptions at the DMV. Definitely a one-star deduction. Despite having a reservation, and a nearly empty restaurant with servers standing around, we were asked to wait while they got our table ready. Several minutes later we were escorted to our table. I pulled out my chair and there were food crumbs on it. I just laughingly shook my head, brushed off the crumbs and sat down. Table service was excellent throughout so kudos to them for that. I was also pleasantly surprised that the lunch prices were just below $20 for a sit-down restaurant in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. I ordered the Fish N' Chips ($17.95), and as you can tell from my included photo the oil in the fryer definitely needed to be changed. The battered fish should be a light golden color. As for taste, the fish was fine, but the fries and onion rings were soft and warm like they had been sitting out for a while. Honestly, I could have gotten a better value at Long John Silver's. Another star deduction for food quality. In summary, Wolfgang's isn't on my return list. read more

The bar was not very busy so we had a nice visit as well as meeting Woody who raced with a lot of sailors we know at LYC in Texas. We always enjoy the great bread and homemade potato chips with a ranch type dipping sauce. As you can tell the bar area has a nice ambiance and the bar stools are comfortable. Waited a long time to try this place. So sad and disappointed. I think we ended up with one of the lesser waiters, kept having to ask other waiters for things that we asked ours multiple times for. The steak, potato and sides were like any other restaurant that charges $30 for a steak. There was a screaming toddler near us as well. If you get sat by a window you might have some decent views otherwise you are just looking at the other people in the restaurant. We tried many other much less expensive restaurants here on the island and the service was so much better than here. The food quality was so much better than here. My sis-in-law went all out and ordered Steak For 4 Dinner ($371) holy moly... I think we would've been good with Steak for 2 because we all ate like birds and there was plenty of leftovers. The sides were purchased separately and we had Sauteed Mushrooms, Asparagus, and Rice. Everything was okay and the steak was tender, juicy and very flavorful but it's just not notable enough to be worth the money. Thank you to my generous sis-in-law who paid for our dinner. I gave 2 stars for location and appearance of restaurant. I went first lunch and ordered the seafood pasta. It was hideous. Tasted as if an entire salt shaker was poured over the entire plate. It had plenty seafood that could not be enjoyed. My friend ordered the steak salad and looked great and no complaints. The waiter never asked if the food was okay or anything. The tuna tartare was almost like poke, salted and with a hint of sesame oil. Onion rings and steak fries were on point, not too greasy but with a lot of crunch! Steak was cooked and flavored to perfection, with table side wait staff to prep and serve the portions while identifying the cuts of meat. We were fortunate to have one of the tables next tot he window so we could people watch while dining. An entertaining addition to our dinner as Waikiki was booming (it was a Friday night). Highly recommend asking for a window seat. Our top to-go place for steak. We have been to other steakhouses on Oahu and elsewhere, but if we could only eat one steak for the rest of our lives it would be from Wolfgang's. Canadian bacon is a must have (pork belly thick) and this location just didn't share the same consistency and goodness as the locations across NY. The porterhouse steak on this day was also missing an action. Moo!!! The fries were also undercooked. How could that be? Reservations were made for 6 but our table wasn't ready until 6:30. They were behind and we were patient but to finally have dinner and have every dish not meet the typical expectation was awful on this night. read more
