Really fantastic breakfast. Had toad in hole, friend had french toast. One of my toads was overcooked and egg didn't run like it was supposed to when I cut into it, but that's fine, as it still tastes good. We started with donuts (4 mini donut holes for $7 some dollars...) that came with a vanilla bean chantilly (fresh whipped cream) and some apple pie dip stuff. Prices are expensive but the food is wonderful. Presentation is fantastic. Sat at a community table--new concept for Columbus. Fresh squeezed orange juice was great as was the coffee. Lots of young thin, trendy kids (Im 34 and appeared to be oldest person there) were sipping breakfast cocktails and bloody marys, but I'm not much for drinking at 10am these days, but the place was packed. We only visited the taproom; however, we walked through the main restaurant to get to the taproom and the food looked really good. If you are visiting the restaurant, reservations are recommended. We visited on a Saturday and the taproom was rather busy (which is to be expected). Overall the service was good. We stood for a while and then was able to get a seat at the bar. The atmosphere was really good. There were several parties and everyone seemed to be having a great time. There were several televisions. They had some unique beers and everything we tried was good. My favorites were the Desert Isle PA which was an IPA that had an unexpectedly good coconut flavor. I also enjoyed the Clear Sky Lemon Meringue cream ale. I would definitely recommend a stop at Wolf's Ridge and hope to try the restaurant next time we are in town. read more

At first I was not terribly impressed with their beers. I feel the first few were good.. but just that. They have since released several more beers which I have enjoyed more and more. I still sadly have yet to eat here, it just has not been in the cards. I do hear from many close friends that the food is amazing.. so very glad to hear. Setting is nice, a tight fit during dinner time and not a lot of space around bar for those not able to get a seat or dinning but that is ok. I really like this farm-to-table concept restaurant. The food is always good, sometimes a little foofy with small portions and some construct I wasn't expecting, but still good. The only thing I don't like about this place is how loud it gets. It's an open room with open tables and it gets so loud in there I find myself having to yell to be heard and strain to hear. I ate here last night for a friend's birthday dinner. I loved the food, but I think there are some links with the service that still need to be worked out. We had a reservation for 13, but there were people finishing dessert at our table. We were told to wait in a certain area, and ended up getting in the way of the servers. We waited for about 20 minutes until they offered to sit us somewhere else. I ordered the duck breast... Yum! The food was fantastic, but it took forever to pay for 13 people, since they didn't split up the check, or ask who in our party was together. That was a little strange. I went to Wolf's Ridge just last night for my sister's birthday. Because we were in a large group, I had the chance to try bites of several different entrees, and hot damn--they did not disappoint. I ordered the venison and sampled the ribeye, duck, and lamb burger. Not a single one of those dishes disappointed. Definitely a bit pricey, but I can easily see myself going back for a special date night. The beer itself was good but not great. I had the Alpha (a Belgian Trippel) and the Chance Encounter (a West Coast IPA), and I always like to support local business--especially breweries!--but I wouldn't go back just to have a few rounds. If Wolf's Ridge is lacking anything, it's kitchen size. They may end up suffering from success when they have eaters packed in on the weekend and entrees taking 30-45 minutes. Our food took over an hour, which is understandable considering the size of our group, but I can see other customers not being nearly as sympathetic. I'll definitely be back though! read more

Elegant. The room smelled of newly crafted wood. The long family-style tables had foam padding underneath it that most likely was used to deaden noise for the small restaurant, but for me it was oddly satisfying to play with. I had venison for the first time at Wolf's Ridge and I enjoyed it quite thoroughly. All the dishes I saw did a good job of presentation. 4/5 stars because our initial table that was promised to us by the hostess was taken by another party - I think she forgot about us, so we got skipped over :( read more

Ok, I hate to rain on the love fest, especially after Bryant recently proclaimed this might be his current favorite restaurant, but I was both under and over whelmed by this place. My husband went here for lunch with co workers and wanted me to try it so after we went to a Sunday afternoon show we decided to do an early dinner. We got a charcuterie tray, I had the burger, my husband had he ahi tuna special, then we had the habanero cheesecake and peach pie. We both had a few drinks as well. The good: the garlic fries were awesome. The beer was good. The desserts were worth every penny, and had a good mix of traditional and exciting. Our server was good and the location is beautiful. Underwhelming: portion sizes. Seriously, I felt like my burger was a generous slider with a meh bun. Also, I got the alpha, a Belgian triple, and it wasn't a pint. I realize this beer is often served in smaller volume, but he menu should say this, otherwise I think diners will assume it's a pint. Selections--I get they have a small menu but I felt like it was so small I picked my meal by eliminating what I didn't want more than choosing what sounded good. Overwhelming: organs. Ok, I get it, people like pate and sweetbreads, I don't, that's cool too. But I expect charcuterie to be cured meats and our tray was pate, cut up heart and a few slices of cured meat. Item not as described, in my book. Maybe I should have asked more questions. Also the cutesy mason jar thing. I don't need my check in a jam jar, it was too twee. So I felt a bit overwhelmed with pretentiousness. I will add this kind of bs used to be my cup of tea but I think I prefer the lower key gastro pub movement--more food, good beer, less flowery. First time here today and very impressed! We went for brunch which was an excellent decision. This place has a terrific brunch menu. The food was really tasty and well prepared. The best part though is the beer. Their beer is just some of the best in the city. We got two different flights in order to sample. Wolf's Ridge is hands down my favorite brewery in Columbus. I usually frequent their tap room - it gives you the opportunity to sample their amazing beer and food while in a relaxed atmosphere, watching sports or playing board games from the selection they have available. First, the beer: Clear Sky Day Break is an award winner for a reason, it's absolutely delicious and one of my favorite beers of all time. But when I venture away from that, I'm constantly delighted by their unique beers and the creativity that goes into their brews. For the food: it's hands down delicious. Their fried chicken sandwich might be the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. The hummus is also a winner. All in all, you really can't go wrong with this place! read more

I'd like to give this a 3 1/2 star rating but can't so decided, based on price, to keep it at a three. Have eaten there twice now and both trips are about the same. The decor and ambiance are, for me, quite good. It would be cold if it were only half full,but has never been when we are there so I like it. Kind of a Norwegian wood meets the Amish country sort of vibe. Service has been very, very good. Two nights. Two waitstaff. Both different. Both charming and knowledgeable. No push, just efficient. Big plus. The drinks are very well made. The beers are generally good with a couple hit and miss (the nitro stout lacks oomph. The doppelbock is great). Food is, I am afraid inconsistent. Take our last visit. My pork cheeks were superb. Moist and meaty and favorable. The garnishes are more show than substance, save for the black bean puree which was great with the pork. The pickled radish and mango added a bit, but not much. Maybe a bit too much salt. Nice presentation. The pork shank, however, was disappointing. Looked great. Fell off the bone, but even for that was not tender. And very little cooked-in flavor. Just kinda bland. The orange gremollata proves why the dish calls for the lemon version. It was off-putting. The butternut squash risotto seemed made long ahead and re-heated, with the resulting mushiness. Just a mess. No sign of the demi-glace mentioned on the menu. All in all a good night and we will go back but, if you have read some of my posts you will recognize that I am big on value for money. This is $3-$5 dollars over-priced per dish for what you get in flavor. I do not know if it is lack of refining the recipes or that it has been some time since the chef tasted what comes out of his kitchen (a surprisingly frequent flaw). Anyway, I wish they would either lower the prices or make the fare more consistently excellent. Finally, they charge $14!!!!!!!!! dollars for a mere (maybe) ounce of Laphroig. Unforgivable. Had a late nightcap at Lindey's the same night and it was $8. Made me feel ill-used by the owners at WRB. Just sayin........ read more

Perhaps the best overall restaurant in the city, considering the quality/cost of the food, the drink, the space, the staff, and the overall environment. We'll be gathering at the Tap Room in a few months to welcome guests the night before our wedding, as my fiance and I are eager to encourage people to eat and drink here to see the best of what Columbus has to offer. It's my hope that Wolf Ridge's success will spawn additional development on both sides of Fourth Street, as right now Wolf Ridge is an oasis in a sea of cement. I have little doubt that will not last long. In the meantime, Wolf Ridge is a sufficient destination on its own, for lunch during the workweek, for dinner, and for a drink whenever needed. read more

The octopus is horrible. Don't order it. It's all rubber. It's notoriously hard to cook. And this kitchen can't cook it. Otherwise, this is a fun place with good beer, interesting cocktails, and well done entrees. We had the lamb and the pork chop. Both very good. Deserts are deconstructed. Nicely decorated and a cool little place to brunch. The menu is a bit on the smaller side but I think that's because everything is so fresh and very detailed dishes. Our server was very nice and honest about questions we asked about the menu. The all over impression I got was good. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is not a deal breaker for me to never go back it's just simply that every time a server would fill a glass or remove a plate I would smile and say thank you and most everyone except our server was very cold. We went on a Saturday early afternoon and was a little surprised it was still brunch serving. That was fine however, and we picked out a couple items, as well as one of their in-house beers. The biggest issue we had was my wife's burger (order medium), was just pretty raw. We called this to the wait staff's attention and it was replaced (and a bill adjustment made). Other than that the food was pretty good. The interior seems very up-scale for where it is (along a busy one-way street downtown). This includes the full-blown, chrome-plated beer-making equipment displayed in a glass-enclosed viewing area adjacent to the dining room. Seems to set high expectations for brewing here (my initial beer was good). The seating is along long tables and row of tables. I guess this is popular, but I imagine when it gets full in there you feel like you're very close to your neighbor. Much of the old brick building has been saved and incorporated into the new dining area, which is cool, but does leave it a bit loud in the space. Overall, I'd like to go and give them another chance on the food, but I'd stick to off hours, being concerned about how crowded and noisey it seems like it could get. read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere here! It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had lately. We went here for restaurant week, because we were dying to try something new. This place reminds me of a place that should be in Charleston, SC. I lived there for awhile, and it brought me back instantly to the downtown of Charleston. It's very relaxed, but has amazing food. And the atmosphere is something straight out of Charleston; Rustic and Natural. It's something I have been looking for ever since I left Charleston. I ended up not ordering the pre-fix menu, but my husband did and I picked at everything of his. We loved all the food we ordered! The mussels, Beef & Lamb Burgers, the fries rocked and of course, the drinks were great as well! They have their own beer they brew, as well as other on tap, so you have a decent amount of options to choose from. Everyone we encountered was great, knew the menu, and could even help with substitutions and recommendations. We will definitely be returning, my husband said to me... two days after our visit "Gosh, their food was so good", so that's when I know we will be returning! I visited this restaurant while out of town on vacation last week. I ordered a tequila sunrise with blanco tequilla, a coffee, and a burger. Everything was SO good. Now, I'm not typically a person who goes out of town and says "Let's get a burger and fries", but it SOUNDED so good on the menu and I was starving because this was my first meal of the day. I was particularly impressed with this burger. It was well-seasoned, perfectly medium per my request and the beef bacon was delicious (which I appreciated because I don't like pork). The first thing I noticed was just how good the beef tasted- we're definitely closer to the cows up here and I loved it. The garlic fries were delicious and had real diced garlic which was wonderful. The coffee had a good bodied taste and wasn't bitter or weak at all. Service was immaculate and the decor and ambiance was great. I say at the bar and enjoyed everything and at no point did I feel service diminished because of it. My only regret was not trying one of their beers! I'll be back. read more

The tap room is sparsely but comfortably decorated, with large open air capable windows, a variety of seating, ample parking (!), and board games available for lingerers. In the past, I thought the food at Wolf's Ridge surpassed the beers, but that's not the case anymore. The tap room has some truly interesting and tasty beers on tap. My favorite from my last visit? The Alchemy series that incorporates one of One Line's signature coffee beans into each of four different variations on the beer. It was fantastic. This is officially one of my new favorite places. It's a bit pricy, so it's not a place that I'll probably ever become a regular. But the food is really good! I ordered the pork porterhouse, which was excellent. Everyone else at my table was quite happy with their meals as well, even though some of the portion sizes were a little skimpy for the price. The restaurant itself was very busy, but it didn't feel hectic. I felt like the staff was working hard but wasn't frazzled. The thing that really sets Wolf's Ridge apart from most fancy restaurants is the quality and variety of the beer brewed on the premises. Getting a flight is the way to go, and I liked my first one so much that I got a second. I wish I could remember all the different beers that I tried, but all of them were interesting and enjoyable. For the table, we ordered a lamb burger and fries, the strip steak, the salmon, and the duck. Apps were good, but not outstanding. We needed more bread. Hummus was bland. Strip steak was outstanding. Salmon excellent. Duck was good. Lamb burger okay - bun was dry. Everything was seasoned pretty well, although the kitchen used a bit more salt than we wanted. Beer was excellent - two of us got samplers with different choices. IPAs are outstanding, and the Belgian ales. The Pumpkin Ale was the worst of the bunch, but I'm not a pumpkin ale lover. This was a great place for dinner on a Friday night! The menu was pretty small, but still had some very good selections! I had the pork tenderloin which came with about 5 pounds of vegetables underneath. It was delicious and a ton of food! To drink, no one got beer (probably a mistake, considering this is a brewery). I got the Citrus 75 which consisted of all my favorite alcohol and flavors, and it was delicioussss. Only downfall to this place (besides the sort of limited menu) was that it was kind of out of the way. Not close to the main downtown area and no other bars in the vicinity. The duck tacos, garlic fries, Reuben, fried chicken sandwich are all amazing. I have eaten here many times, but this past Sunday had to be the best brunch I've ever had in Columbus (maybe anywhere). The eggs benedict is one of my favorites and the new carnitas benedict was so perfect. Delicious pork, poached eggs and mustardy hollandaise with a few dill pickles; perfect! Also, the piece of pork belly that came with my wife's eggs was HUge and cooked perfectly. Oh yeah, the beer is great too. I have been hearing about this place for a while and finally had the opportunity to try it out last Saturday for brunch. I'll get right to it; I'm a fan. The decor has a rustic lodge feel. The menu isn't extensive, but it has all it needs. I went for the Cuban Benedict and my taste buds approved! A welcome twist on a classic breakfast. A couple of people in my party got the toad in the hole, which was the other thing I was eyeing on the menu and they raved about it. Everyone in my party of 6 complemented their selection, so it's fair to assume it's hard to go wrong here. The craft cocktails are spot on. I ordered the "chef's breakfast" a mix of bourbon (a local, watershed), cold brew coffee, maple syrup and half & half. Do yourself a favor and order this bad boy. It will not let you down.
