First of all my first impression of Wonderlin was great, Grover came out to give us a free estimate and he was very professional, prompt and friendly. They did a 100% fantastic job on our roof! I was hoping to make it through this winter without replacing our roof, but discovered a leak during one of our recent rains and had to strap on the big blue tarp in hopes of minimizing damage. I called two contractors to obtain bids. Grover from Wonderlin met me at the house, performed an inspection and told me it was time for a new roof. He explained my options, left his card and told me he would have an estimate to me within two days. Two days later, I received the estimate. The other contractor apparently came by when I was not home, and provided an estimate. His estimate was not as detailed, and I never met the man. I sent an e-mail asking him to clarify his bid, and a few days later he replied. Wonderin's estimate was slightly higher, but Grover took the time to meet me, and that made all the difference. I called and told them I wanted them to do the work. I received the contract the next day, signed it, gave them a deposit, and got on the schedule, for late January. To me extreme pleasure, Grover called me on Monday night of this week and told me that he had a cancellation, asking if i would like them to start the next day. I was super happy and gave him a resounding "YES". The tear off crew arrived first thing Tuesday morning, and by late afternoon, had ripped off the old roof, cleaned up and left everything ready for the roofing crew. Wednesday morning the games began. Ryan and crew arrived, made some minor repairs, and the materials were delivered and ready to install by 9 am. Late in the day, the upstairs was complete, and the downstairs was about 60% done too. Today the crew arrived and finished the job. I am so happy to have a new roof on our home--3 weeks early! Wonderlin was fast, efficient, all the guys were polite, and they did a fabulous job. Grover came out, explained my options and sent me a quote fast. Then the crew came out and went to work. Very fast and professional. They had to return twice to take care of concerns I had with fit and finish and both times without hesitation they came out and took care of the issues. Wish I did not have to do this, but after taking off work and rushing home to meet the roofer I get a call while waiting he was not coming. Now they did call to say they were not coming (only after I had been waiting already 45 min). So in my book of life just showing up on time is most of the battle to getting life right, and if your hiring someone to do work ( because you work to pay them to work) your time is worth money also. I will say that the person on the phone is very nice, but since they can't make the first call on time for a 6000sf roof ($$) I will take the business to people who know to be onetime, as the first step of doing business. read more

I saw Wonderlin Roofing Systems Inc in Castro Valley always doing roofs in my area. My big home need a new roof before the rains came. I called Wonderlin Roofing Systems Inc and talked to Catherine and told her, I think I need a new roof. Catherine told me no problem and she set up an appointment. Grover called me that night around 5:00p and we met the next day at 12:00p. Grover and Ryan came by and both climbed on the roof and took about 30 minutes to inspect my roof. They both said...yepppppp you need a new one. I signed the contract and gave them a small deposit to start the job. I told Grover and Ryan to do what you want to do and make it right. Three day after signing the contract....Wonderlin Roofing Systems Inc started their work. It took them 6 days to install a new roof...I'm talking about pulling the whole roof off rebuilding to whole roof and deck roof too and adding extra like.....all new fascia board plus painting to match...adding a solar powered attic fan...removing and vacuuming all the insulation in the attic and installing new high energy-saving installation...all new rain gutters all around the house with downspout and installing a remote control skylight. I'm so overwhelmed by their work, I can't seem to remember everything Wonderlin Roofing Systems Inc installed but, I assure you it was done perfect! I highly recommend Wonderlin roofing systems for any roofing need. The roof on my house had worn out shingles, several leaks, the flashing was outdated, and the ventilation was inadequate to the point one area of the house would be 10 degrees cooler inside than another area of the house. It required a complete tear off. I knew it would also have some repair work required due to the leaks. I called six roofing companies for estimates. Two companies showed up but never returned an estimate, one company said they were too busy, and two other companies submitted estimates I thought to be too costly. The last roofing company I called recommended I call Wonderlin roofing. I'm glad they did. I called Wonderlin Roofing Systems and made an appointment for an estimate. The day came and I really needed to postpone the appointment until the next day. They changed the schedule with no problem. Grover showed up right on schedule and inspected my roof. He showed me many options for roofing systems, talked to me about the ventilation problem, and discussed many viable solutions. Since it was raining intermittently, and I'm sure this increased the number of potential jobs, a complete tear off of the roof naturally would have to be scheduled out a few weeks and during a dry period. Grover's estimate came in better than any other company's. We selected the materials and made a deal. They worked around the rainy days so as not cause any undue situations or added work, and fit me in during a warm dry week. The tear off took one day. The install, including new flashing, new vents, a solar fan, all new roofing materials and underlayment, and dry rot repair, was done in three days. The roof looks great. It rained a few days after the new roof was put on and all was well. All through the process everyone I was in contact with at Wonderlin Roofing was professional, courteous, understanding, and helpful. The schedule for payment installments of 10% down, then some after roof tear off, and the rest at final inspection was easy and manageable. They handled the entire permit process seamlessly. They cleaned the place up after the job was complete. They even made recommendations throughout the process for future reference. My roof looks great. The ventilation now keeps the entire house much more temperate. And, the best part, there was no stress or worry with any part of the experience. It's always good to remember that contractors clean up after the job as best they can. We, as property owners, all have to expect to have to do a little as well, after the job is complete. read more

I've never had a roof put on a home before so I wasn't sure what to expect, or even whom to call. The Solar Company recommended Wonderlin Roofing Systems, so I had them come for a complimentary estimate. The owner, Oscar, came out and did the inspection in about 20 minutes. He discussed all the different options with my husband and me, showed us samples, etc. Less than 24 hours later I had an estimate and it was far less than I expected. They finished the entire job in 3 days (that includes putting on gutters)! Wonderlin did an excellent job and left the yards looking cleaner than when they'd begun the project. I was very pleased with the work, the professionalism, and the timely manner in which they worked. I recommend them without hesitation! read more

I would not recommend this company. They replaced the roof on our prior home. They removed the old roof quickly and then left the roof bare for a few days (doing no work on it), allowing the bare roof (exposed wood with no cover) to get rained on (light rain) even though we called and asked them to install a new roof since the forecast called for rain that week. Only one guy from Wonderlin installed the roof and he worked alone; it took a few days to install. The roof installer threw heavy items on the roof and later (after the work was done), we noticed small cracks in the drywall inside our home. At the end of the day, the owner came by to check on his one worker. In the end, the roof seemed fine, but it was important to us that a new roof be installed immediately (or within a day) after the old roof was removed so that it would not be exposed to rain, etc. Also, it would have been better to have more than one person installing the roof; would have taken less time to complete. read more

Substandard job installing a new roof on a house where the roof structure is not complicated. Difficult to get the company to come out and repair their bad construction or the interior damage caused by the substandard roof. For each year still the roof was installed 5 years ago, they have had to come out to repair leaks and fix the interior wall and ceiling damage. I called them in January 2010, and the damage is still not fixed. It is unacceptable that I have to call them multiple times to come fix a roof that clearly they should have replaced once the leaks started happening. read more

I have never been more dissatisfied with a firm in my 40 years as a homeowner. We have called Mr. W back maybe 6 times for him to complete the job -- which in fact was never actually completed by him or his crew. It has been approximately a year and after it rains my ceilings look like they have been sprayed with a fire hose, condensation falls onto the hardwood floors. My house has a flat roof which is clearly a very poor design, but we were so frustrated with every interaction with Wonderlin that we are now paying another roofing company to install a brand new roof rather than attempting to deal with Wonderlin again. read more

One year after Wonderlin installed a new roof on our house we developed a leak in our first floor kitchen. It was puzzling since the top floor, closest to the new roof, was completely dry. I had a miserable experience with Home Depot - they installed a very expensive roofing system on my house in the Fall of 2015, and one month later, when we had our first rain, it leaked like a sieve. I had them out repeatedly, but they could never seem to find and repair the leaks (there were several, one very severe one in my living room - I had to put out buckets to catch the drips!). Eventually, they refused to do anything further, despite having sold me a 50-year warranty. I had to ask myself: If they aren't going to honor the warranty at month 2, then what will they do at year 49? Anyway, I had to report them to the licensing board to finally get a settlement - a discount, which I then used to pay WONDERLIN ROOFING to repair their mess. The leaks, by the way, weren't rocket science to find (they'd failed to make complete tie-ins in several places), but as every homeowner knows, leaks are tricky. Wonderlin did a great job - they stuck to it until they found and repaired all the leaks, and they honor their warranties. After an inspection for solar panels showed we needed a new roof, we went with Wonderlin Roofing on the recommendations of two friends. The people are fast, professional, and willing to work with you at every juncture. Case in point: I wound up not being able to pay them on-time due to do some incompetence on the part of my refinance broker. I recently bought a home (whoo-hoo!), and the inspector said that the front of the roof covering had come loose, creating a potentially leaky situation. He said that it might cost between $600-1,000 to repair, which is a lot, but it seemed important to have it fixed, and in home purchasing, money just flies through the air... So I got in touch immediately with the people who had put on the roof, namely Wonderlin Roofing. They agreed to send someone out promptly, which was much appreciated. Grover Wonderlin came and looked at the roof, saw the part that needed to be repaired (it was less serious than the inspector thought), fixed it in about no time flat, and then charged me nothing. You read that right: $0. He said that the roof was in good shape and that I probably wouldn't need to call for another seven years. Wow. Really impressive.
