Yet, all of a sudden, someone made changes to this page by removing Kaka'ako from the title and then screwed around by renaming it to "Pomai Kulolo Farmers market." Not only did the change occur to the vendor's name, but they changed the address to this vendor's production site in Kailua, HI where I've never been. All photos and the review reflect this vendor at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market, located at 210 Ward Avenue. Oddly, this morning when I was standing in line to buy some haupia from Pomai Kūlolo, I checked in even though the address is INCORRECT (in Kailua). Still, the map marker is correctly positioned in Kaka'ako. However, the corrections that I'm asking for are: - RESTORE the business page to read "Pomai Kūlolo - Kaka'ako Farmers Market" - CORRECT the address to reflect this vendor's TRUE location at 210 Ward Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96814 I've been trying to make the corrections myself via Yelp's desktop version but nothing changes and the same incorrect information remains. 5/24/2020 REPOST due to Yelp accidental merge with another business…read more After feeling a bit of "quarantine fatigue" and having hankerings for some dessert other than confectioneries, we ventured out to the Kaka'ako Farmers Market in search of this food stand. Pre-COVID 19, we have bought their Hawaiian desserts from the two loving ladies behind the table. Yesterday, we stopped for takeout laulau, poi and poke from one of our favorite local Hawaiian food shops but didn't see either house-made kūlolo or haupia. But, having bought both coconut-milk based Hawaiian desserts from this vendor at this Kaka'ako location and their Fort Street Mall Farmers Market location, I knew Pomai Kulolo would provide us the perfect finish to our Hawaiian meal so this Saturday morning at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market was perfect timing for us to get dessert. What is kūlolo? Basically, it's a Hawaiian dessert staple made from mashed kalo (taro) corms, coconut milk or grated coconut meat, and maybe sugar. Traditionally, kūlolo is steamed or baked in an underground oven or imu (the stone-fired oven pits, that you've seen at luaus, where luscious kālua puaa or kālua pig is pulled from). It is considered a pudding and has the consistency of soft fudge or even Japanese mochi so it is usually served in squares. We like it because it's not overly sweet and is a great complement to our savory Hawaiian food. Pomai Kulolo was founded by 3 siblings (Kekaula Family) and has been selling their kūlolo, haupia, and haulolo (a modern combination of haupia and kūlolo) from roadside stands and then expanded to various Farmers Markets on O'ahu. They make all of their coconut-milk based products using family recipes. Speaking of family recipes, Pomai Kulolo's haupia (coconut pudding) also include guava or lilikoi (passion fruit) topping. Pomai Kūlolo makes "Mīkini 'ai" which, I'm told is similar to "paiai" or undiluted poi or mashed taro. Look for this vendor at Kaka'ako Farmers Market and let your taste buds be treated to ono Aloha.
