I've come to Woodstack twice now, once with just my wife and I. And once with a large group for a friend's birthday. The food here has not disappointed me yet, to start their bread is delicious and you get a piece per person when you sit down to start, and I paid for extra bread the last time I came it was so good. For dinner I've had both gnocchi and the guanchali pizza. Both dishes were excellent and I really enjoyed them. I've also had cocktails here once and thought they're cocktails where unique and good. I like the dried fruit garnish I thought it was a nice up class touch. The only negatives I can think of were when I came with my wife we sat by the bar in the area we were sitting in was pretty high traffic and I got bumped into a handful of times which was mildly annoying. We could have probably waited for a table so that's also on us but just something to keep in mind if you choose to sit at the bar. The other thing is for large parties over 18 people you need to do a prefix menu. To be honest this is not uncommon in a lot of restaurants so it's not a huge drawback if you were having a large crowd however I think one of the perks of this place is there many choices that I feel like are not too many yet given enough options to satisfy a lot of people, and when you're doing prefix menus it's just a pain in the ass with everyone's preferences and picking stuff that everyone likes. All in all I really like this place I won't likely be back again If you live locally and haven't tried this you should definitely check it out. read more

What a gorgeous restaurant! Came here for dinner yesterday and was immediately impressed by the sophisticated yet welcoming vibe. The hostess took our temperatures upon arrival and immediately had us seated for our reservation. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of our wonderful server, but she was so sweet and very swift with bringing out everything we ordered. We started off with the Difara pizza and a glass of the apple cider sangria and white sangria. The drinks were very tasty but the the pizza was to DIE for! Absolutely delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the rigatoni, squid ink linguini along with the elderflower gin and tonic and a blue Hawaiian. I really liked that they offer half portions on the entrees because it leaves more room for dessert, lolll. There was a good wait for this place so either come with a reservation or be prepared to wait an hour or so. I can imagine it's longer on the weekend. Walking in the resturant has its redeeming qualities. Pre modern rustic kinda appeal. It's honestly a nice looking resturant. Now for the food. I've been eyeing this spot for a few years now and never walked in but have noticed their parking lot is always full. So you'd imagine the food would stand up to it. But that's not the case. I ordered a margarita, pepperoni pizza (cuz you can't mess that up) pasta and a salad. So I'm getting a verity. Pizza was surprisingly mediocre. The ingredients were fresh but were very off in taste. They used a sour dough bread as the base which is not really my cup of tea but if you like it "hey good for you...I guess" personally the bread should not be sour for a pizza. The sauce was also not very good too, very acidic, lacking flavor. So that sour / acidic combo wasn't very cash money. Pasta was also alright, had the tagliatelle. Sauce was okay. Nothing really to write home about. BUT !! The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and very much appreciate fresh pasta. Salad / Drinks were good so highly recommend that. And ya. One of my girlfriends and I got together for dinner and drinks. When we arrived I found parking on the street nearby. I walked into a super cute restaurant with indoor, outdoor and upper and lower seating. We found seating at the bar and Chelsea was our server along with a trainee. At first I thought Chelsea didn't like me because I sent back the sangria I didn't like but when I joked she was ok but serious. I went with the pinot nior for my drink and the squid ink shrimp pasta. The food was good. The bread was just ok. My friend enjoyed her margarita pizza. So sad to report that this place has really gone downhill. This was my 4th time coming because I used to like the food, but the experience has drastically changed. The service has always been terribly slow, and the servers often forget simple requests. For example, I asked for ketchup twice and was forgotten both times, along with a few other things. Some of the people I was with just settled for drinking water because their coffee or juice didn't arrive until 15 minutes later. I continued to come back because of the food, but this time, it was extremely disappointing. The food was far too salty, and even the pizza was terrible. This is some of the best pizza you will ever have! I came here for my friend's birthday on a Saturday evening. We were a group of 12 and the staff was super accommodating and friendly. They get really busy in the evenings though, so I would recommend calling ahead to make a reservation. I was very happy with the service! The waiter checked on us often and food/drinks came out quickly. I tried the Banana Daquiri, which was delicious and the perfect choice if you're looking for a refreshing smoothie-like drink that's not too strong. If you want something on the stronger side, I would opt for one of their margaritas! My boyfriend and I split the Prosciutto Pizza and it ended up being a good size for two people. I was satisfied with the amount of toppings the pizza had and overall, it was the perfect balance of the flavors. I absolutely cannot wait to come back here to try their other pizzas and menu items!! This place has grown on me! I usually stop here on the way back from NYC on the weekends since it's on my way home from the Metuchen Train Station. Really digging the rustic Italian country-side feel of this place - maybe I have it wrong but the interior decoration is fitting. The lunch crowd isn't too bad and the bar, only place I sat at, is practically empty. Dinner is another story; place is packed, tables are full, and the bar is crowded. There have been a couple of times where I had to wait for a seat and on some occasions left. I'm there solo and I would rather sit at the bar. I also noticed that besides having a second floor, they have outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Wonder if there is an outside bar too. Every staff member I've encountered was always pleasant and had a smile on their face! The bartenders, a few that I've appreciated, always provided great customer service; timing was perfect (never waited a long time to be acknowledged and drinks/food were brought out in a reasonable amount of time). The food was always brought out from the kitchen just as I had ordered it - never had to send anything back - and tasted great! First time I ate there, I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries during lunch and it was delicious! Someone next to me, God bless them for letting me get a snapshot in, ordered a salmon salad and even though I'm not huge on seafood, the whole presentation had me salivating (sorry for the TMI, LOL)! The second time there, I ordered a seasonal gnocchi and wish I could provide more detail but all I have to say is I wish I opted for the dinner portion rather than the lunch. The sauce was creamy like a rose Alfredo sauce. Dipping the two varieties of their fresh, warm bread in that sauce was exceptional! There wasn't any space inside the restaurant so we went outside, even though it was very chilly in the evening since we are still in winter at the moment the outdoor was covered in a mesh sheet and was very warm. I made reservations for this restaurant through yelp for my daughter's birthday. We were able to be seated right away except the table was wobbly and the staff spilled water on the table and did not clean it up. Pomegranate Margarita: It did not have enough alcohol taste and there were no pomegranate taste. The outside of the cup had salt & sugar all over that it made my fingers sticky. Seppe: The pizza tasted like any ordinary sausage pizza from anywhere. Pizza Barese: This was OK but could have been a lot better. The pizza was too flat like a cardboard. The staff: They were very friendly but could have been more attentative to us. The pomegranate margarita came out after all of our food came out and that was a bit disappointing. My other daughter ordered tagliatelle pasta with chicken and bacon. It took them nearly an hour to get the bacon on the side when she was almost finished. The supervisor/manager came over and my daughters told him the issue but nothing was resolved. On the happy hour menu, I tried the Tuscan Pork Ribs ($4 for two) and Di Fara Pizza ($8), and I thought both were good deals. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the pizza was a solid margherita-style pie. I also shared the Jersey Garden pizza, which features caramelized eggplant as the main topping. This pizza itself was tasty and had a nice chewy crust to it, but I was hoping to see just a little more eggplant on top. Ok, for starters the hostesses need work. I don't know if they were flustered or overwhelmed but the greeting or lack there of was rather dry, and borderline rude. Luckily I had reservations (to their surprise based on their body language and response of asking "is the other person here", referring to my wife who was right behind me). Drinks: Pomegranate martini - I thought it taste like medicine but my wife liked it..so much so that she had 2 of them. Stack Rum runner - pretty good and nice presentation. I could do without the pulp personally but still a good drink. As an appetizer, we had the Mezzaluna pizza, which is 1/2 calzone & 1/2 Margherita pizza, and it was pretty good. I was anticipating the calzone to be a bit bigger, as it was advertised as 1/2 calzone; but was more like 1/3 calzone and they put some marinara sauce to take up the remaining space on the pan. Nonetheless it was delicious, so maybe I'm just being greedy. My wife had the Pappardelle Bolognese pasta which was well executed and very rich, which I'm a fan of. I had the Squid ink linguini which is TO DIE FOR!!! Like BRUH, this dish was so darn good that I wanted to order another bowl. The shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked, as was the linguini. The tomatoes were packed with flavor and the juices would burst with each bite. I am not sure what the spice was in there but it had a really nice kick to it. I would suggest this dish to ANYONE who likes seafood and even if you don't, this is still worth giving a shot. YES, it was just that good. I heard a lot of people rave about the bread and I can see why, it's fresh and comes to your table nice and hot as if they baked it to order. They had a nice selection of breads that you could order or take home also. The ambiance was nice and pretty relaxed, very nice set up and they had tvs that you could pretty see from anywhere in the house yet they weren't overbearing or distracting. Ultimately I do want to and plan on returning; as well as suggest this place to others (actually already told 3 other people to check it out before I wrote this review).
