If you're in the mood for great service from a friendly staff, and really, really crappy (but expensive) food, I recommend checking out Woodshed Smokehouse. My wife and I just had lunch there today. I decided to try the chicken fried steak, smoked jalapeño gravy, pickled chiles, au gratin potatoes and my wife had the brisket stuffed piquillo peppers, bone broth, cotija. First, the $21 chicken fried steak: It was SEVERELY OVERCOOKED or had been under a heat lamp since Bush was President. (No, not THAT Bush, his dad.) The meat was a rock and the breaded crust was hard, shattering when I cut into it, revealing even more disappointment within. The au gratin potatoes had a vague, disconcerting coffee aftertaste I wasn't expecting (and HATED). A golf course restaurant (Raven's Grille) in Euless has a FAR superior chicken fried steak at a MUCH lower price. I can't believe Woodshed Smokehouse is owned by a chef. Seriously. My wife's lunch was three tiny pieces of brisket (again, severely overcooked) wrapped in piquillo peppers. Although relatively inexpensive at $12, it wasn't even worth that. We came up to Woodshed to meet up with a group to hang out. Honestly we would have not heard of this place if it hadn't been for the meetup group. Everyone in our group enjoyed their group. The tacos are good; I got a duck option that if you are a fan of chicken tacos you would enjoy these. Staff stayed on top of everything; and the only real delay we had was getting tabs. Though as we were a group visiting that was understandable. None of us got some of the more BBQ which seems to be the thing that takes the longest to come out. The patio is really nice but for myself it can easily get to hot for me. They are dog friendly and on the trail; so we got to say hi to some friendly pups when there. There is one section with industrial fans which is my preferred area to sit. Parking is one of the biggest negatives and would be the thing that keeps us from coming back. They offer valet; and most available spots seemed to be for the apartments right there. So its tough to know where we can and cant park without risking our car not being there when we come out. We found Woodshed because a Meetup group I'm in decided to come here for a get together. Parking is a bit of a pain, but we ended up parking down the street closer to a parking lot for the trail and another restaurant. Some of the meals seemed reasonable portions for the price, others seemed a bit small for what was offered. Staff did a good job and we lucked out with timing because everything came out in a very reasonable time frame ... but most folks got apps, sandwiches, tacos or ramen vs genuine BBQ options. Most who got the tacos enjoyed them, a few folks said the burgers was on the super greasy side. I think personally I would stick with the apps and drinks. While we had a decent enough experience, and if a group picked it we wouldn't 100% be no on going back. The Woodshed Smokehouse was a nice place to have lunch while taking a break from the nearby shopping. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday and were seated right away. The menu is so unique that it was hard for us to make a decision. Our group enjoyed the warm pretzel a lot for an appetizer. The pork empanadas were delicious as well as the Brussels sprouts. My husband enjoyed the brisket sandwich. Two people in our group ordered the butchers sandwich and were not a huge fan, stating that the meat did not have much flavor. We also wish that more chips were provided. The portion sizes were just enough to be filled. The location is great as it's right next to the river and many other shops. Attended a 5k that started and ended here. Ended up staying for breakfast after. We sat outside and enjoyed the live music for a while after the race was over. I decided to try something different and got the Woodshed Poutine! Absolutely loved it. Hummmm. It's been a number of months since we last visited the Woodshed and five years since my last review here. As on this Friday in late August it was a very pleasant 73 degrees and overcast day we decided to visit for lunch to sit outside and dine al fresco. We arrived around 11:15. We passed numerous open street parking spaces on Riverfront Drive and found the main parking lot at the entrance to the restaurant completely empty! Have never seen anything like that here in all our precious visits over the years. And there was no valet service at the door as in the past. As we entered here was only one table occupied inside and zero tables occupied outside. No one was in the bar area. Have never seen the store this empty for lunch. Our server could not answer several of my questions including what the price of the animal of the day tacos would be. My wife decided to try the beet and barley salad which she enjoyed. It is a generous portion. We shared the brisket stuffed piquillo peppers. They were not as flavorful as we remember from previous visits and they were not garnished with the cotija cheese as is usual. But nonetheless they were enjoyable. I ordered the animal of the day tacos (cabrito) and my wife the bahn mi tacos. Both were as they have always been, enjoyable. The tacos are presented with three small corn tortillas. I requested an order of another six to go with our take home leftover meats. Six dollars! Yikes! For six little 4" corn tortillas?? So anywho, the food was pretty much the same as we have enjoyed from the restaurant's beginning. But what is going on here? When we left at 12:15 (On a Friday! And when it was so pleasant outside.). There were only three tables ( six people) occupied outside and two tables (six people) inside and five guys at two tables in the bar area. And only our car in the main parking lot. I am on a trip to Texas this week and Woodshed Smokehouse is a new restaurant I decided to try. The food here is very good! The brisket they serve is absolutely delicious! They also have a smoked chocolate pie dessert that is so very good too. The service is A+ from over the phone to in person! The greeter when we arrived was so nice and the manager was amazing too. Stopped by Woodshed Smokehouse and had mixed feelings about the experience. We ordered the barbecue pork sandwich, the brisket sandwich, and a full rack of ribs. For an appetizer, we tried the potatoes. The good: everything was tasty overall and the flavors were solid. The pork sandwich had great texture and seasoning, and the potatoes were a standout appetizer, crispy and well-seasoned. The not so great: the brisket in the sandwich tasted a little old or reheated, and the ribs were pretty dry. They definitely weren't fall off the bone like I expected, which was a letdown since I've heard the ribs here are usually a fan favorite. I'm honestly wondering if we just hit an off day or got a bad batch. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was chill, so I'd still be willing to give them another shot. It was a great outdoor venue for a spring evening. Visiting from out of town and found this little spot next to the river. A very small river. We got half a rack of ribs, 2 oz of lamb brisket, 1/4 lb brisket, ramen and thick bacon belly pinch bun. The ribs were cooked perfectly. The lamb was kind of dry and the brisket - the fatty piece was cooked perfectly but the leaner piece was slightly overcooked/dry. Overall the seasoning was good. The most annoying thing was the flies which came swarming as soon as the food was delivered. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. I finally received my oyster appetizer 10 minutes after I finished my meal, it was better than the sandwich although I couldn't swallow 2 of the 3 oysters as the were to chewy but they had a decent flavor. Me and my friend were going to have dessert but we decided we've already wasted $45 of our hard earned money on a meal we did not enjoy one bit so we decided to go to Pappadeaux's for dessert, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! And to add insult to injury, they charge $10 to valet park in THEIR parking lot. Showed up around noon last Saturday, and the weather was perfect. I knew there was a TCU game, but it didn't start for another six hours, so surely the crowd here would be minimal, right? No. That did not matter because it seemed that at least half of the students attending TCU as well as their parents, siblings, cousins, papaws, meemas, and all of their neighbors were here to pre-game early - this place was PACKED inside and out. It was a sea of purple, too. Well, we had nothing better to do than wait and drink, so that's what we did. We waited an hour and a half before we got a table, and it was another hour before the food was finally laid out before us. There were a lot of drinks drank... lots of dranked drinks. By the time the food came it was nearly 3:00, and I was freggin' DRUNK! I ate a little bit of everything - the brisket, the ribs, the sausage, the little stuffed peppers... It was all good. Was it the best I have ever eaten? Well, no. The brisket was a tad bit on the dry side, the ribs could have been a little more tender. The sausage was a bit... different, special maybe, and I think it might have been my favorite thing here. Those red peppers stuffed with brisket were pretty good, too, as was the beans and potato salad. The hostess told us it would be a while before we got a table, and our waitress also warned us when we ordered it would be at least 45 minutes before it came out. Ok, not gonna lie. This is one of my favorite spots on Ft Worth. We ended up coming here a variety of nights with different clients when in town for the Bassmaster Classic. Ordered the Texas Trinity a couple of times, the sandwich with multiple meats and lastly the Rib Meat Tamales. The food is consistently excellent. Tender and flavorful meats and the servers are friendly and always willing to chat. The waterfront location and live music give it a great, fun atmosphere. Had dinner at Woodshed Smokehouse in Fort Worth and let's start with the setting, it's right on the Trinity River. Now, longtime locals know that's basically our scenic, slightly upgraded city drainage system... but hey, they've done a great job making it feel rustic-chic and intentional. If you squint just right at sunset, it's downright charming. The food? Absolute 10/10. No notes. The smoke, the bark, the flavor -- everything hit. You can tell the kitchen takes great pride in what comes off those pits. It's the kind of place where you plan to "share a few things" and then suddenly you're guarding your plate. Service, however, was a different story. Friendly? Yes. Attentive? Not so much. Drink service in particular was surprisingly slow. Which is puzzling... because in the restaurant world, liquor is usually the highest-margin item in the building. When refills lag, it's not just thirsty guests , it's missed opportunity. A little retraining or tighter coordination between floor and bar could make a big difference. Overall: phenomenal food, unbeatable smoke, great vibe -- just needs sharper execution on the service side to match the quality of the kitchen. Came here with a bachelorette party for brunch. We initially we're very impressed, seated quickly and enjoyed the atmosphere. However, TWO HOURS LATER, we still had not received our food. Our waitress, who was clearly busy and stressed was not very communicable about what the problem was. She told us the kitchen was "backed up". We ended up having to walk out due to an appointment we had scheduled later that day. Very disappointing experience, especially since the food looked very good. If you're considering going here on a Saturday morning, just don't unless you have all day to wait around on your food. The patio was busy when we arrived and fully packed by the time that we left. Our server Matt was fantastic! The oysters had a great flavor and an unexpected nice little kick. The grilled camp bread is a nice touch. Ohh the brisket stuffed peppers!! I don't even know where to begin here, so much flavor and surprisingly a good amount of brisket. The lamb brisket was beautifully seared and seasoned & not too fatty. I loved the potato salad, the texture is quite unique. It almost has the consistency of chunky mashed potatoes and a good amount of flavor..Love!! We finished off with the Apple & Jalapeño fried pies and Smoked Chocolate pie. Both delicious. Dip the fried pie into the accompanying ice cream once it melts down a bit. If you're looking for a restaurant that has barbecue, pescatarian and vegetarian options, this might be the place for you. I found this place on Yelp, and I was super excited. It checked all the boxes.. I'm on a pescatarian diet, so I was excited when I looked at the menu because they had multiple options that I could choose from. While looking at the menu, they had things that my husband and kid would eat too!! They eat all the meats. We came here for our anniversary, we were looking for something good and low-key, because we we're taking our kid with us. When we got there, we asked one of the staff members what he would recommend and he gave us some options. And when we went in, we were greeted and seated immediately. Iur waiter, John,.who was awesome! Came over and took our drink orders, , my husband and kid got sodas, and I got the jalapeno cucumber Margarita, which was very tasty,I must say. They even had a little extra butter sauce that you could dip your little bread in. So because only half of the food was good, I raided them a 3. If I had just gone by myself I probably would have rated them higher. If you go during the day when it's warm, they have a big patio area to sit outside. Last time I visited Woodshed during covid (2020) I came for the "Tomahawk Prime Rib" only to be disappointed it wasn't available. Seems the dish is now permanently off the menu. I has sad as I wanted to see if it compared to my local Salt Lick BBQ 32oz bone in Prime Rib in Driftwood, Texas. This time GF and I left early for DFW because concert Friday night; got to Woodshed early Saturday as we had six diners driving north from Austin. A brunch drank consumed along with a tide over appetizer Pinched Buns. Typical of Asian restaurants the steamed buns were a perfect bite to tide us over. First time here HUGE wait. This visit not so much. Pay the extra $10 plus tip for some shade ala valet. The Pit Smoked Hummus was as good as the last visit. I apparently had the same dish as the previous visit. The Bulgogi Tacos are a wonderful "New BBQ" choice. Flavorful meat with a "quick kimchee" meaning it doesn't have to sit in a bucket for 6-12 months per the standard recipe. Corn tortillas were amazingly thin. All of our friends were impressed with entree selections. GF's ramen broth was dark and flavorful. We decided to give them another chance, and this time for lunch, and boy are we glad we did! We parked off the street and it was very dark on our walk back. Live music on weekends (typically starts at 7). If you have back issues or anything that affects sitting on a wood bench or metal seat, bring something to sit on-- picnic tables and metal chairs are all they offer. When we were there, they had no happy hour specials. Food is a wide variety from nachos ($16, add meat for $6), burgers (the one my husband was $17 had 4 types of BBQ meat with the hamburger patty) salads, cool side such as cream corn and BBQ meat by the pound (example, 1/4lb brisket $7) . Cocktails basically $15/drink with beer on tap or can/bottle. We were shocked we were seated right away on a Friday night. It's not unusual they are packed and have to wait for a seat. Born & raised Ft Worther and can say this was a major let down. Tim Love has been all the rage for years now but this place wasn't what we thought it would be. There are definitely better BBQ places in town. The fried chicken skins were honestly missing flavor...the sprinkling of paprika and ranch didn't help me at all. The banh mo tacos were embarrassing. Sure the mexican elote looked good but after our experience with the chicken skins we gave up. Hubs wasn't super hungry so his snack of 1/4lb of brisket was the perfect size (and yes, that's the size you see in the 2nd pic. As others have mentioned, $10 for valet to park your car in a tiny lot that you can see is just another embarrassing factor. But hey, it's by TCU and capitalism reigns supreme 'round these parts. What we enjoyed the most was the patio and ambiance. That alone brought this place could have brought this place up to 3 stars. read more

We were recently in the Ft. Worth area for my aunt's 90th birthday; we'd traveled most of the day from San Antonio and were trying to feed our one year old. Honestly, this wasn't our first choice, but this joint was just down the street. First let me say - there is no need for valet parking here. Seriously? Paid $10 to watch a guy park our car less than 20 feet away. Just....no. As a matter of fact, when we left, we just went and got in our car ourselves. We were, however, seated right away, which was a plus on a Friday night with a fussy one year old. It's definitely a fun little joint - mainly outside - obviously great for live music - and the weather was perfect. It's right on the trails system, which was really fun. My daughter and I spent some time walking just outside the restaurant, listening to the live music, watching the sunset, and waiting for our orders. A+++ for ambiance!!! The food came out pretty quickly - another plus. Overall, however, it was just okay. My wife had the tamales - and I agree with her they were a tad bland. The fish dip, although having decent flavor - was very watery, which made it messy. My double cheeseburger was very good, but my complaint here is that it should have been LARGER given the price point. A good burger is my absolute favorite thing to eat, so I'm tough on 'em, but I can honestly say - pretty darn good effort on the burger. Half in half for my review. One of my places is not far from Woodshed, so tried it like for the 3rd time about 40 mins before they closed. First visit was awesome overall. Second was just okay. Last visit was not good. One of our dishes was great but the other (baked potato) was just awful. Really awful. It seemed like it was old and they gave it to us as a last resort before closing. Haven't been back since. Not saying I won't try it again but maybe I will reluctantly and just not order another baked potato lol. read more

This place is awesome! They have live music almost all the time and bonfires! my friend works here and the atmosphere is amazing! They even have a menu for your dog. The food is top notch, smoked meats and wonderful sides to go with them. They have good beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks. It's right on the Trinity River which is nice. I love meeting friends here and having some good food and some good times read more

WOODSHED! How is it that I live literally across the street and have not been inside to sit down and enjoy a meal?? My bad. That's on me. Forgive me. Anywho, I consider myself a Chicken Fried Steak connoisseur and I'd say my meal is definitely in my top two favorites. I was told by Johnathan that everything is a la carte however the Chicken Fried Steak came with au gratin potatoes. This meal woke my taste buds up with jalapeño cream gravy and pickled chiles.. never had anything like it! Johnathan was an excellent server and was very thoughtful to place my chiles on the side as opposed to the top of the steak. I'll be back to try more dishes! read more
