I used to work there. The cooks were disgusting. NO ONE washed their hands. Meat would sit out all day. When I would point one health violations, most of the time, they would just laugh. Mr. Woo's Teriyaki is great. It's a store front restaurant located in Richland's most popular strip mall called "The Uptown." The atmoshpere is commensurate to the location, and gives me the feeling I'm in a truly authentic teriyaki joint. The portions are grand, and the prices are very reasonable. This place boasts the spiciest plates in town and I don't think they're kidding. The medium hot chicken teriyaki is comparable to a very hot spicy chicken in any other establishment. I would recommend this place for taking a lunch date, lunch with friends, or to take an out of town guest. A party of more than 4 would have a hard time finding comfortable seating. I've been a long time fan of Woos -- since the early 2000's actually. Although it has changed ownership and direction since the beginning, the food is still delightful and comforting. Their portion sizes are really good and the food is consistent and flavorful. Some of my favorites are the beef teriyaki, the tofu stir-fry, and the bibimbap. Their Korean dishes come with banchan, which is a plus. Also, their ginger tea is so sweet and spicy... I crave it when I feel under the weather. read more

I'd heard a lot of good things about this place from Hanford-employed friends. Not travelling into Richland much, I hadn't given it a thought, but found myself there for an event last week and decided to give this place a try for dinner. I got the chicken teriyaki with gyoza meal. It came with a small side of salad, an ample amount of rice, a nice portion of chicken and 4 or 5 (I can't remember exactly) of gyoza. They deep fry their gyoza instead of pan-frying it. I'm not crazy about that but the contents made up for the crunchy outer layer. The meal itself was good. Nothing special, and not rave-inducing, but I enjoyed it. If I'm in the area again, and someone suggests Woo's, I'll happily return, but I won't go out of my way to drive here. read more

Worst place I've ever been too, started off with the owner to ask how many after I said 5 walked off, and ordered three plates made a comment if that's it? Unwelcoming and I thought maybe that was just her culture difference and it was unintentional, but it just got worst. Didn't offer us anything to drink or if we'd like water. The worker seemed very scared of her when I told her my son spilled juice if I could get a towel to clean it up so that they wouldn't step all over the floor. My kids at the end were chasing each other out she acted like she was having a panic attack and couldn't focus on anything else but how much they bothered her to the point she felt the need to yell at them, and she proceeded to make a comment to an older couple as she sat them stating thank goodness. . Ok. This pains me to write. But be careful. Went there a few days ago for lunch. Had the spicy chicken with vegetables, rice, meso soup. My friend had everything I did except he had teriyaki chicken. Food poisoning hit me by the time I got to my car. I almost didn't make it home. Long story short, a bad case of staph type of food poisoning which came from the chicken/vegetables dish. The health department was notified and extremely concerned because of the strain. Been going here for years, but watch out. It's not the same place. read more

Is it merely a coincidence that "Woo's" and "wonderful" both start with the letter "w"? Call me a conspiracy theorist if you must, but I, for one, am more than just a little suspicious. I've tried all the teriyaki spots around here: Bento, Teriyaki Grill, Dae Song, Samurai Sam's....continues ad infinitum, and honestly, I like all of em.Even mediocre teriyaki chicken is still teriyaki chicken, and teriyaki chicken, by definition, is heavenly. Woo's, however, is in a class of its own. Typically, teriyaki sauce has the same consistency as maple syrup, but Woo's sauce has more of a soy sauce- like consistency, which sets it apart from every other teriyaki spot I've ever been to. Another thing I like about the sauce at Woo's is how it's a little less sugary than the stuff "the other guys" use. And the spicy sauce they use, wow. There's a sign on the wall behind the cash register that says something like, "Warning: We serve the spiciest food in the Tri-Cities." Honestly, I'm surprised they dont have their customers a disclaimer when they order this stuff; it's that hot. One piece of advice, though. Go in the afternoon or late evening or you'll probably end up waiting a while for a table. read more

A lot of people in the Tri-Cities seem to be hardcore Woo's fans. One of my Dad's friends, without fail, goes on a long Woo's rant anytime some one says the word teriyaki. I'm a big Bento fan, but I hate wondering if there is some other restaurant that I haven't tried, that might be better and I just don't know it, so my girlfriend and I went in to check it out. I got the Beef Teriyaki, and we ordered some of the tempura calimari. The calimari comes in big strips and was the only real positive note, though there tempura sauce left much to be desired. The Miso soup was the blandest I've ever tasted. (My girlfriend has gone twice with people from work, and confirmed this was no fluke) The beef teriykai was super thinly sliced, and basically tasted like they bought a package of roast beef from some grocery store deli and through it in a pan with some teriyaki. Best thing about the experience is that next time I sit down and Bento, there'll be no lingering doubt in my mind, that I have made the right call. read more

Have heard some good things about this place, so thought I'd check it out (always up for finding something new and good to eat at in the Tri-Cities--as it is, we're overun by chains and meagerness). It's an odd combo: Japanese and Korean. I asked the server what the deal was, but she didn't really give me a reason. whatever the case, I ordered a Korean dish...can't remember the name, but it was definitely tasty: beef, rice, noodles, some other stuff, and all topped with an overeasy egg. It also came with a hodge podge of side dishes. The flavors were new and tingly on the tongue. I manned up and put some hot sauce on my dish, and it added to the dish. Recently, I have been running across books and blogs where people talk about how awesome bibimbap is... but it was never something I had seen at a restaurant before. I just moved to the Tri-Cities, and the very first place my boyfriend took me was Woo's - which is high praise for them right out the gate. I was a little sad that the promised bubble tea was no longer on the menu, but lo and behold... they had bibimbap! So I absolutely had to order it - and it was lovely! Came to Woo's on the basis of reviews made by Yelp contributor's. The Tri City area is located in southeastern Washington and anything outstanding outside of a franchise restaurant didn't look promising. But at the hotel, I logged onto the good old Yelp site and several promising candidates showed up, Woo's Teriyaki was one of them. My first impression was not promising, Woo's is located in a big old strip mall south of the downtown area with several sleazy watering holes as companions. In addition, when we first walked in, we saw a sparsely populated little hole in the wall with about 20 tables and booths. And no Alcohol! No hootch to dull the senses and make this classless hole in the wall seem charming. Determined to see this thing through, my companion and I decided to forge ahead and order dinner. I ordered Teriyaki Beef and my friend ordered Kung Pao Chicken. I also ordered some pot stickers as an appetizer. While waiting, the place began to fill a bit, in addition, there were several Korean ladies hanging around the counter chatting and laughing. I had to wonder, "what makes Korean ladies seem so hot?" A mystery I'll contemplate later as our orders arrived. The pot stickers were a bit weird, they were deep fried rather than pan fried, they were not something I would recommend, a but tasteless actually. My Teriyaki Beef was excellent, served with white rice and a salad, made for a fine meal. Beef was nice and tender, sauce was good and portions were ample. My companion liked his Kung Pao Chicken but complained it was too hot. "It's Kung Pao Chicken Pal!, It's supposed to be hot. Woo's is the perfect local hole in the wall with great food. Woo's certainly exceeded by expectations. It was super cute on the inside with bamboo wall paper and practical, no-frills seating. I ordered the salmon teriyaki since they didn't have an all-white meat option for the chicken teriyaki. The salmon teriyaki was pretty good- simple and delicious. The meals came with Miso soup which was nice addition. Hubby got the super spicy chicken teriyaki despite the waitress's warning as to prove his spice tolerance level. It was so hot that it wasn't really editable, but no one to blame there but the spicy ego :) Good place, good prices. Nice if you want to keep it simple. read more

You have to love teriyaki with a soy tone to it or you may not like theirs. I love it! I also appreciate having more teriyaki places in the big TC. My coworkers are fiends for Woo's Teriyaki. I love teriyaki, and I love supporting local businesses, so naturally - I was going to have to give Woo's a shot. I think my expectations were too high, because I was a little let down. I'm going to have to give it another shot though, because clearly the place has loyal fans, as there was no place to sit when I got there. I tried the chicken teriyaki, and really didn't care for the teriyaki sauce. It was a little too salty for me. My friend had the kung pao chicken and said it was really tasty. I'm not a fan of too-spicy food, so he made sure to warn me never to have anything hotter than a medium as it would fry my tastebuds off. (I'll go ahead and take his word for it.) I hear that the yakisoba is the best in town, and that it's a great deal for the money. While I refuse to review chain restaurants, I'll at least say this - I think Samurai Sam's in Kennewick offers better food for a much better price. Woo's is home to the best spicy food in town. They are the brother restaurant to Toeshi Teriyaki in Kennewick. Woo's offers a mix of teriyaki and Korean dishes that won't disappoint. I eat there not less than twice a month and it is always near the top of my list. I have to thank my friend Rob Y. who suggested Woo's with the simple endorsement that no mortal could finish a plate of their Kung Pao chicken on 'hot'. I plowed through a medium plate later that day and was nearly incapacitated. Woo's spicyness is rare in that you actually get flavor and burn - rather than the taste-numbing disaster that most spicy foods deliver. Their tempura is impressive. Calamari is really amazing - thick slices o'squid in a light batter. Lots of flavor and texture. Shrimp are great too. The miso soup is tasty. The dishes are always presented nicely with ample portions and everything is fresh. This is all cook to order, so if you want 'express' lunch, hit McD's or a chain teriyaki place. Prices are very reasonable. No matter what day or time you go, there are always people in there. If that isn't a strong endorsement, I don't know what is. Also, they are closed on Sat/Sun, so if you need a weekend fix, you are out of luck. read more

I'm updating my review as we haven't been very impressed with our recent few visits. The Kung Pao is not what it used to be, the flavor hasn't changed much, but the quality of the ingredients seem to have gone down hill. (Maybe new chefs? New suppliers?) The quality of the waitstaff has also diminished. It's quite sad because we've been avid fans for years. I'm not saying we'll never go again, but I wanted to update my review to accurately reflect recent experiences. Miso soup is still tasty, as is the dressing that comes with the salad. Whoa buddy! This place is makes astronomically spicy food. The word of the day should be balance. Coming from Seattle I've had no shortage of teriyaki. The particular style of teriyaki that you find at most Korean owned restaurants are by no means authentic to it's Japanese heritage but unique and still satisfyingly delicious in it's own regards. This strain of Korean owned Seattle Teriyaki joints is where I'm basing my comparison from. The heart of teriyaki, Japanese and Korean, is the sauce which is sweet, salty, sticky, and practically pure umami. I've been known to dump teriyaki sauce on rice and call it a meal. However, this restaurant doesn't quiet seem to meet any portion of this profile aside from the salt. It's very salty, has an overwhelming taste of powdered garlic, and pours with the consistency of au jus. There isn't quiet any balance in their teriyaki sauce and I think that sentiment reflects my view of this restaurant as a whole. The food, like the sauce, is gets a resounding "meh" rating. The chicken is often dry and often swimming in some variety of soupy something. Why? I'm not sure, I've never had teriyaki swimming in juices before. The rice is often over-cooked and the salad dressing is nothing to write home about. Their spice rating is bewildering to say at the least with a medium often being intolerably spicy and their mild containing no spice at all the only reason I can think of having this scale is to have some sort of "claim to fame". I believe in utility over novelty in many cases and this is one of the reasons why. If you have to warn people about your medium rating, I'm willing to bet very few (if any) dare to get medium hot or hot. What's even the point of having a full scale at this point? Back to my first statement. There are a lot of variables in the game of food. The excellent maker knows how to find the ideal balance of these variables to make an enjoyable dish. While many others here enjoy this food, I simply can't agree. And for this I say " to each his own" Despite my critical opinion of this restaurant, I will say that in a city that is sprawling with chain restaurants I applaud Woo's Teriyaki for offering diversity to Richland. While the food may not be the best I am hopeful that with Woo's presence and apparent success they can usher in more variety to the Tri-cities food life. p.s. If you're waiting for your food I highly suggest looking at the cats and dog's edition of National Geographic sitting on the take-out waiting bench. I was thoroughly amused. read more

I still remember when I moved back to Richland from NYC in 2006, and my boss took me to Woo's, claiming they had Korean food...when I saw the mini Korean menu inserted into the larger Japanese one, I literally cried tears of joy. Yes, Soyon and S.T., it's not the best ever but by virtue of it merely existing among the wasteland of Quiznos and Subways, it's automatically Avalon to me. And, corey G, I believe the owners (presumably the Woo's) are Korean and they are bordering nations so it's kind of like TexMex. It's just that Japanese food is more approachable for the normal Tri-Citian palate. The service is slow but it's worth the wait when you're a long way from either 32nd Street or Seoul.
